Susan looked at her impromptu army, and smiled wryly.
"I should be pleased that my magic is coming so easily,  but as the saying goes : 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'.  There's got to be a cost for this, we just don't know it yet."

Zoey blinked. "I didnt think of that.  Oh, hey.  Maybe your grandmother has some input on what is going on?  Think you could ask her?"

Once the pair of girls got to the river and parked the car, Zoey got out leaving her things locked up in the back seat.

Susan made sure to lock up the SUV securely, and followed Zoey towards the shore.
"I'd rather see what I could come up with on my own first.  Bubbee Kappy tends to get all snippy with me if I call on her as a first resort."
She rolled her eyes.
"I mean, it's not like she has anything else going on, what with being dead and all, right?"

The water is incredibly choppy like a storm whipped up though it isn't particularly windy out.

Susan looks around, slipping on a down jacket.
Then she paused, looking around
"Wait....I thought it would be windy out.....what's going on?"

"I'll try to see if I can find out. Hold on."

Zoey reached out with her mind to speak with a fish or other water creature near by.  "What is going on?"

A large fish pops up and looks at Zoey.

~Fishmen, Fishmen are doing something.~

Zoey looked surprised and concerned at the same time. "Fishmen?  Deep Ones.  What are they doing?"

She looked to Susan, "There may be a problem bigger than we thought."  She waited for the fish to respond.

The fish just swam there looking at Zoey.

Turning to Susan, "Once we are under the water, you may want to create yourself a weapon.  Anything involving the Deep Ones isn't going to be good.  Or you can stay here where it'll be safer for you.  Your choice but I have to go, its my duty."

Zoey took a few steps into the river and waited for Susan to make up her mind, and created an air bubble for her friend if she followed into the water.

Zoey's cellphone rings.

It's the ring she set up for Sam.

A smile appeared as she looked at the phone and answered it.  "Hello handsome.  What's up?"
She wiggled her toes in the water.

It seemed to be just a text.

Help Zoey ! Zombies here !

"Oh my god!"

Zoey turned and started back for the car, dialing Sam's number.

Susan was trying to decide if she wanted to go into the water or not, and was just screwing up her courage when Zoey started running towards the SUV after getting a text.
She started running after her.
"Hey!  What's going on??"

"I swear this day can't get any weirder. Sam texted and said there are zombies. Zombies!  What next?"

Susan, not believing in coincidences, started the car and drove to where Zoey directed her.   She also tried to think of any good spells against zombies, if she knew any.

Zoey got in and waited impatiently for Sam to answer his phone, even though it had only rang twice since she dialed it.  "You ever think about leaving Arkham?  I mean all this crazy weird stuff that keeps happening, its a bit straining on the nerves.  Mummies, ghosts, monsters and now zombies. This better not be him joking around."

Susan drove, and chuckled wryly.
"Yes, I'll admit that part of me is seriously looking forward to leaving town for college.  I wonder if Boston gets this weird?"
Then she looked at Zoey, looking a little sheepish.
"Though, to be honest, another part of me doesn't want to leave all of you.  I can't imagine being in a new town where no one knows my weird little secrets......Well, most of them, any way."

Zoey nodded, "It's a tough decision for sure.  But well, I've been thinking about taking off for a while and trying to get touch with my heritage.  Maybe go to Greece."

Susan stopped at a red light as they drove, sighing heavily.
"It's weird.  I think about going away to college.  Certainly getting away from my parents.  But the thought of all of you heading off to all corners of the world is....well, kind of depressing.
I know it sounds selfish, but I'll admit that part of my wants all of you to be here in town when I come back for holidays.   Almost like I need you all to be here to make sure I have an anchor in the world.
Weird, right?"

Shaking her head, Zoey smiled lightly "I dont think that's selfish at all Susan.  We're all one another's anchors."

The phone kept ringing with no response.

"Damn, he's not answering.  Um, go to the school, we'll start there."

Zoey and Susan show up at the school and sees it ablaze.
