Loud, chaotic, cliques, students, bright.

Everyone is talking about the strange flood and about what happened while they were in it. Many of them are still patching things up with friends or family. Others are depressed from the fights and chaos that came with those storms. A few even talk about seeing a shooting star when the rain ended.

Suzan was quieter than usual,  seeming to be a bit depressed and distant.  Since most of the students mostly knew her from her reputation as 'that girl who went crazy a couple of years ago", most students didn't bother her.

She was lost in thought

Zoey sat alone beneath a tree in the school yard, resting her head in her hands. She was still feeling bad about the storm and the constant reminders all around her didn’t help.

Rory was somewhat distracted himself, though for different reasons to the others. He was mumbling to himself. "So I could add an AI to the core program." He looked around towards and spotted Zoey and Susan, who both seemed in their own world. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, as if he was trying to decide who to talk to.

After a few moments, he approached Susan. "It's decided then. You're going to help me convince Zoey that we should go to the beach." Rory seemed to be acting as if they were in the middle of a conversation.

Susan blinked in surprise at Rory's request.    She almost looked around her, convinced that he had been talking to someone else near by her
Then she raised an eyebrow
"Um.....okay?  What are we doing at the beach?  And wouldn't that just remind her of the flood?"

Rory seemed to think for a moment. "Hum... You could have point but we clearly need to do something. Maybe we should go bowling. Beating me in a fair game should cheer everyone up a bit."

Susan snorted out a dainty guffaw and smirked
"That's crazy enough to be brilliant.  But, you're right .   We should do something productive,  rather than having us all keep.torturing ourselves "

Rory gave a nod. "Yeah. Now to convince Zoey..."

He approached Zoey and began talking. "We're going bowling. Are you up for the challenge?"

Susan joined Rory, smiling in what she hoped was a reassuring way

Zoey wiped her eyes as she looked up at her friends and forced a smile. “Sure. Beats sitting around here.”

Susan smiled and patted zoey on the shoulder, feeling a little awkward

As the leads talk in the background a limo pulls up flanked by some SUVs.

Susan looked at the entourage suspiciously,  suddenly curious
"Now what?  Is the mayor stopping by?"

Zoey looked at the vehicles too and shrugged. “Let’s go bowling.  I really don’t want to be here today.” She grabbed her school bag and threw it over her shoulder and started walking towards the convoy of black vehicles.

Looking over her shoulder at her friends as they walked towards the black vehicles,  “So who’s car we taking? Or do you guys feel like walking?”

A hand fell on Zoeys shoulder.

"Miss Krass, I hope your not thinking of skipping out of school."

Its one of the students from honor society.

"No worries.  I'll drive."
Susan liked to be in control.  And she hated walking.

Susan smiled at the honor student.
"No, we're not skipping school.   We're just going out to get, um, school supplies."

She stopped and looked at the student, an eyebrow raised. "You really think they'd miss me? Seriously though, get your hand off me. Please."

Zoey looked at Susan and smiled. "Right, supplies."
