Seaside Lanes Bowling Alley

Leads: Zoey, Rory, and Susan

Susan walked in with the others, hoping to forget their problems for a while with some mindless bowling

Zoey went to the counter to get shoes and a lane for her and her friends. She checked her phone for messages while she waited.

Zoey got a message from her adopted father

~Hi Kiddo, listen I know you are skipping out on school. I understand your upset about your friend Allura but you really shouldn't ignore your classes. Your grades have been hurting. I do understand you need time though, so just keep safe.~

~Hey Pops. Sorry for skipping. We'll behave, and safe. I'll work on my homework later and catch up. Love ya~

Zoey replies to her dad and joins Susan and Rory.

"I'm glad that we managed to esccape from those cameras. I really don't want to be all over TV."

Susan smiled wryly
"As much as I might like to be on TV someday,  if we were famous it would make our lives way too difficult "

Zoey chuckled. “You mean more difficult? I agree though.”

Susan chuckled
"Well, true enough.  I just mean it would be more difficult to skulk around looking for monsters if we're famous "

“True.  Okay, so who’s winning tonight?”

Susan grinned ruefully
"Well, I always vote for me,  but the pins don't always agree"

“Just remember, losers pay for pizza after. I’ll go last. I have to work on catching up on my school work in between.  Pops knows I’m skipping today.”

Susan nodded.
"Sounds good.  I'll go first."
She almost said that she was all caught up on her work for the next few days,  but it sounded like bragging

Susan goes first

Zoey sat down and pulled out her school books. She started working on homework while Susan and Rory took their turns at bowling.

Rory turned to Zoey. He seemed to decide not to interrupt her while she worked.

"Let's do this!" Rory just threw the ball without any afterthought getting an unexpected strike. "Oh... That wasn't meant to happen..."

Susan blinked at the strike and then looked at Rory, eyeing the handsome man with a mix of amusement and suspicion
"Do we need a rule about using 'luck'?"

"I can't help it. It just happened."

"Nice shot Rory. Guess its my turn then, huh?"  Zoey set her homework aside and picked up a bowling ball.

Zoey sat back down and continued working on her homework. "Your go again Suze."

Susan tried to relax and have fun,  but felt competitive with Rory nonetheless

The ball skips a lane and bounces into a very competitive game knocking aside a ball from one of the players.

An angry man looks over, "Shouldn't you be in school ?"

Hands Susan a plot point.

Susan came up with several retorts in her head, but bit her tongue and said nothing,  slinking back to her seat

Zoey looked up from her books, “Shouldn’t you be at work?  Besides, haven’t you ever heard of homeschooling?”

"Were having a tournament darlin we aint playing for fun. Keep things in your own lane."

Susan laughed.
"You're bowling because you have to,  not to have fun?  I'm not sure I've ever heard of anything so sad"

She rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”

“You guys want to get out of here? The place is starting to smell like middle aged testosterone and bad life decisions,” Zoey asked Susan and Rory.

Susan smirked.
"Sounds good to me "

“Back to school then?” She shrugged.

For a moment on the TV Susan thought she saw their school.

Susan paused and looked at.the tv

It seemed to be a local news story but the volume wasn't on. Whatever it was the story changed to something else.

Annoyed with inconvenient television timing, Susan checked her phone

Zoey began packing up her school books and looked up at Susan. "What's up?"

Still scrolling through her phone,  Susan answered without looking up.
"Our school was just on TV for something,  but I missed it.  It might be some sort news story about 'a celebrity coming to class' or something,  but I wanted to make sure "

"Oh that's right. I forgot for minute 'she' was there. I dont thin I've ever actually watched her show before. Let me know what you find."

Susan looked for any weird news from the school

Susan finds that Kacee McCormick is picking out a few superfans to join her in being superstars !

Susan made a face like she'd just stepped in doggiedoor, but quickly hid it,

"Whats wrong? Did something happen at the school?" Zoey looked worried as she watched Susan's reaction.

Trying to be super casual and non chalant, Susan shrugged
"Oh, nothing much.   Kacee McCormick is picking out 'super fans' at the school for her show"

Zoey let out a sigh of relief and smiled. "We should get back there then. Maybe you can get on her super fan show."

Susan winced,  but tried to hide it
"No, no.....we need to keep a low profile for our shenanigans.   Me being on a reality show would only be a bad thing.  Having local fame would be awkward,  and I might let something slip to a camera during filming. "

It wasn't clear if she were trying to convince herself or Zoey

Zoey smiled, "It could be fun. You never know unless you give it a shot. But seriously though, we should get back to school. Dont want you two getting in trouble because I decided to skip again."

Susan nodded with forced casualness
"Yees, we should definitely get back"
