Site of a ritual

Leads: All except Allura

Resources: Spooky, Candles, Cross, Holy Water, Angel Iconography, Magic rich.

Susan pulls up on a site that is dimly lit by flickering candle light. The candles seem to be burning low the flames a blue/white light. She feels magic here and senses some kind of ritual was done.

“Well, this doesn’t look ominous at all.” Zoey said quietly as she looked around.  “Think anybody is still around?”

There are shadows in the flickering light but no sound is heard.

Susan got out of her car,  nervous but determined

Susan saw symbology around the site

Frowning, Susan tried to read them

A lot of Christian symbology.
In one area she sees a depiction of an angel with fiery wings that looks very much like her friend Allura.

Susan rolled her eyes
"Ugh....Christian's.  This can't be good"

Zoey frowned, “Like those over zealous Guardians again? They tried something like this before with you and Allura, at that warehouse.  We need to find her before something really bad happens to her.”

Susan nodded and tried to track the magic

Zoey finds a picture of a fiery angel in a thunder and rainstorm crashing to the earth. This was carved into the cross.


Susan is able to sense Alluras magic was used to light all the candles here.

“Hey, look at this you guys.” She shows them the picture and glances around again.  “Do you think this was zealots or a cult thing? I hope she’s okay. I’m never gonna forgive myself if anything happens to her.”

Susan frowned in confusion
"I wonder if these people worshiped her or tried to catch her?"

“Where should we go from here?”

"Good question.   I'd like to try to track them from here, but i'm not sure if its possible. "

"We could try waiting in the shadows until someone goes by. It's what they do in the cop movies."

Zoey nodded. "Lets do that. Maybe we'll be lucky and someone will come back for this stuff. I could also see if any of my "friends" saw anything here too, or where they went."

While the group waited...

In the city the situation at the school actually prompted some of the locals to talk about their own unusual encounters and sightings of strange things in the city. The kids at the school are lauded as heroes by at least some of the locals and not as just people involved in a publicity stunt.


It was around 2 AM that the group saw someone approaching they were moving in a slow unusual gait towards the area.

Bump

Zoey looked at Rory, “Can you find out what’s on his mind?” She asked quietly then turned back to watch whoever came back.

The figure moved in an odd way shambling closer and closer

Susan tried to cast a spell to detect magic,  her paranoia flaring up

Susan senses no magic as the homeless man moves into view.

The man gasps and staggers back in shock as he sees the three teens.

Susan smiled brightly
"Nice night for a walk, eh?"

The man starts breathing normal after the gasp.

"What are you kids doing out here ? You part of this group ?"

He looks around.

Susan tried to smile innocently
"Part of which group,  sir?"

He motions to all the acoutraments.

Susan cocked her head questioningly
"Are YOU part of this group,  sir?"

"That depends you going to tie me up or nail me to a cross ?" he says looking off towards the cross.

Getting tired of the mans games, Susan shrugged
"Well, we're not here to be part of this group.  In fact,  we think they might have kidnapped a friend of ours"

The man relaxes.

"The girl ? She was a friend of yours.  I would have helped her but there were too many of them."

Susan frowned, suddenly serious
"Who are these people?"

The man shakes his head.

"They seem crazy think your friends an angel. I have never seen these folks out here before."

'Any idea if they're coming back?"

The man says,"Im not sure. Hope so, then maybe I could do something with your help."

Susan tried not to sound as suspicious as she felt
'And what that?"

"There were too many for me to do something. The police dont listen to homeless people maybe they will listen to you."

“What did they do to her?” Zoey asked choking back some tears.

He points to the cross

"Tied her up to that or nailed her to it. They think your friend is an angel for some reason. I dont know exactly what all the praying and stuff they were doing meant. I was chased off by them when they saw me."

“Was she, still alive?”

"I think she was alive, seemed to be before they chased me off."

She nodded. “Did you happen to see which way they went? Or hear where they were going?”

"I think they were in white vehicles."

"what kind of vehicles? Vans, SUVs, limos?"

"Bigger vehicles yeah vans or SUVs."

Susan looked at her friends
"Do we wait for them,  or try something else?"

Zoey looked thoughtful for a minute then nodded. “Let’s wait a little longer and see if anyone comes back. If not, we’ll go looking for them .”

Susan nodded, not having a better idea.
She looked at the homeless man
"No offence,  sir, but what is your connection with this?"

"I live here or at least I used to before these folks run me off. Its a nice place even stayed dry when we got all that rain."

Susan, a teenager who lived in a luxurious house and owned her own SUV, felt a pang of guilt at hearing the homeless man's plight.
Still, she didn't think it was time for activism.
"Um, okay...well, let's all try to stay out of sight until they get here."

“Should we let her dad know we found something?”

Susan frowned in indecision
"We don't know if we found anything yet.  But we call him if you know what you want to say."

Zoey shook her head then took out her phone. “I’ll take a couple pictures of the ritual site and send those to him, and tell him what we found and were told.  I don’t like talking to him.”

Susan frowned
"Why is that?"

“He uh, makes me nervous. He knows too much about my life and I don’t like that.”

Susan gave a wry smile
"I understand that completely "

Zoey sent the pictures to Malcolm Danvers ~we found this tonight, she was here and taken away again by people in white SUVs~

A reply comes back to Zoey ~Where are you ?~

Zoey replies back with the location of the ritual. She turns to her friends, “Let’s go. He’ll probably send someone or come himself, but I don’t want to be here by then.”

Zoey dug into her pockets and handed the man what bit of money she had on her. “I think there’s an all night cafe a few blocks from here, if you want to get something to eat.  It’s better than sticking around here for a bunch of weird people to show up.  Thank you, sir.”

The man looks at Zoey and nods, "Thank you, thank you so much. Nice to see some young folks can be generous."

He looked at them all, "You be careful, you don't want to end up like your friend."

I thought we were going to follow Susan’s magic trail towards Allura?
