Not only would rain purge zombie invasions, but it would become fact on this world that you could kill demons just by pushing 'em in the nearest lake.

In reply to Baron Sider (msg # 268):

You do need a focus to channel energy, and for many cleric spells we'll eventually learn. But it's not like we're going to notice much if we wait a little to have one.

As a matter of fact, I already have a feat to use my harrow deck as a focus for divination spells, I suppose it would be logical (if a bit hilarious) to use my harrow deck as a divine focus too...

By the power of my Holy Deck of Card, Begone, Vile Undead !

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

It sounds kinda cool, actually: your Harrow Deck would represent the inevitability of Fate (since you are lawful). By the power of Fate you would heal, harm, and channel divine spells that require a focus.

I would still advise against it, however, on the grounds that harrow decks are not really suited to be brought into combat. The concept is interesting though, you may want to adapt it somehow.

Zhorr's pitch will still be that you should, if at all possible, to come up with a common symbol representing your diffrences and commonalities.

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

Still thinking like a Wizard :) and need to remember that I need a holy symbol for a focus for Divine spells. (I give Pale an A+ for his holy symbol) What is to say that the holy symbol for Mirelinda is not a deck of cards that a glowing hand is picking one. I had thought of one that looks like an open spell book with a cats eye looking at it over the book and a quill under it. (Nib pointing to dexter)

Fate is True Neutral. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to the good.

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

Well, a Holy Symbol is not a unique object, or even unique to the individual, it is just a symbol of the faith. A priest could carry a dozen around, weight permitting, and they would all work; and they can be objects in their own right or simply painted on something. So in theory I could have one Holy Symbol that's actually an object that's handy to use in combat, and still paint it on the back of all the cards of my Harrow Deck and they'd count as holy symbols...

And that leaves the exact design still wide open. For Mirelinda's part, if we try to come up with a team design, incorporating a star would work quite well...

Dekar might appreciate wings on the symbol, if it's to be a team thing :)

I guess that is why we are going to do the stories or the symbol might look like a platypus. So far a star, wings, spellbook...

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

Long version: Mirelinda, lawful, can choose a harrow deck to represent the inevitability of Fate. A True Neutral character could choose the same symbol, representing the impartiality of Fate, and a chaotic character could choose the same symbol, representing the randomness of Fate.

I think stars would represent both our spontaneous casters - Tilly please correct me if I'm wrong - and the meteor shower ("falling stars") as well.

Now, if the stars were sets of five-pointers or six-pointers, they would represent an arcane symbol as well. Put them around a winged figure - like for instance a dragon wrapped around an egg - and I think we have covered everybody.

Do please correct me if I'm wrong...

Addendum: your combined chosen domains, their parent domains and subdomains (as applicable), and the Law domain and its subdomains, all become available domains for your faith, should it matter for some reason.

ETA: Divine Foci are objects, not material components, therefore they benefit from the 1/3 reduction when you craft one. A Divine Focus made of mithral or adamantine, with a base cost of 34 gp, would be worth 102 gp, which meets and exceeds the maximum value for a False Focus symbol. Six of them, including a long mithral/adamantine chain tying them together by one another's locket, would have a base price << 250 gp, and would be easily made with a single casting of Fabricate. In fact, you could make a few spares, if you felt so inclined, without needing to spend more Strength.

The base DC is 20 (for the expensive adamantium one, cheaper one would have a proportionally lower DC), Crafting skill is Jewelry.

Unfortunately the dragon's arms were off-center, so the egg is off-center, so the stars are off-center... But you get the idea,

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

That works as a drawing, but the detached stars won't help much with making it an object. Well, unless it's engraved on a medallion or something.

You could perhaps add a star on the egg. If it were distorted as if painted on the rounded surface, it might be interesting... and the little starts could then be omitted on some versions of the holy symbol, depending on the material.

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

Right then... Let's try this instead.

So we have an egg-shaped symbol, with a six-pointed star and a dragon on it.

And yes it's meant to go on a medallion or be otherwise engraved.

Addendum: we can add a small image in the center of the star if you find one that think should go in there. Perhaps a five points star, to have a more "starry" star in it?

ETA: removed the blank center from the star, elongated the points instead, as per Sider's suggestion. This necessitated a resize of the star, so there was no room left inside, not that the hexagon was that big to begin with...

He, I new Lareth was our natural leader ! And now she's been promoted to Goddess, too :) Why, just look at our Holy Symbol !

I don't think an image in the center of the star would add much, it would just be too small to matter...

Sometimes I have to wonder... Why don't more actual religions worship dragons?

Anyway...!  It looks nice.

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

I think that a dragon might eat a few followers along the way

(Nice work, btw Pun-Pun)

As to the star, maybe elongate the top point and every other one. (Or make it 8 point like a compass rose) Another thought is that the dragon is holding the star or trying to eat it

Well, Dekar certainly needs to forge his armor after the sword is made. Since, ya know, he's designed for heavy plate in the event of bad stuff.

Re: OOC: Who is doing what now?!

The only thing is, you are a little short on resources.

Also, forging an adamantine armor (or weapon) from scratch takes literal years; crafting it through Arcane Forge is a better option (as materials, dirt and diamond dust may well work: dirt for the mass, diamond dust for the magic essence - i.e., gp value).

I can't cast any spells without rewriting reality... so... I will ask someone to make me something I can use to start my garden.  Meanwhile, I'll try to fight off being sick and come up with a good story to tell!

Perhaps rewriting reality to include the existence of adamantine resources might not be such a bad idea... Just saying ;)

Get well soon!
