You actually only make 7, because most of Munch's creatures are tokens, since Volo's copies become tokens even if he didn't denote it.

Good point.  Also, I mucked up the timing - I should have done it in the declare blocker's phase - then I'd have got Torbran!!!  Too eager to think things through properly!  Still, sort of returns the favour of you letting me off my ill-advised attack earlier I guess :-)

No, it specifically says so on Volo. Anytime a copy is made, it's always a token, unless its another creature turning into it, like a Clone effect.

Same decks?   I'm not sure mine has a cat-in-hell's chance of countering Volo or Torbran - at least not without the two of you kicking each other's butt first so I can step in.   I was one bad decision away from a win there I think!  :-)

The Spellshock was what really messed me up.

Well that and the Deflecting Swat, but there's nothing I could have really done about that.
