The Indari Hegemony was formed 313 local years ago on the Crownworld known now as Indaris Prime in the Renevatio system. Located in the Outer Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy it is over 30,000 light years from Old Terra.
Currently the Indari Hegemony spans over 20 star systems and Trillions of citizens. They have no current relationship with any known civilization human or otherwise as of 313HC, having remained isolated during the Blood Wars of the last centuries. Much of their technology and scientific knowledge has been built up from crude pioneering equipment and out of date ships.
The ruling body is House Indaris, currently governed by Prince Vaynre Indaris maintaining the Hegemony over the other four Great Houses: Aesgar, Liandra, Revack, and Solune. Each House commands it's own forces, holds it's own systems and by tradition owes fealty to House Indaris who maintains the largest military force and controls the most systems that it might keep the other Houses in check. Each House also has the fealty of several smaller hereditary houses and all their associated forces and properties.
This is the doctrine of Hegemony, the strongest rules and the rest follow in their own way. A delicate balance is held between forcing cooperation between rival Houses and maintaining enough tension between them that they do not usurp Indaris as the ruling power. For over 300 years this has served the Hegemony well and despite minor skirmishes and honor duels between Houses, the empire and the people have prospered and grown strong under the Indaris Princes.
