What is now known as the Indari Hegemony begin as Human sleeper ship colonists who traveled at FTL speeds to land on a habitable planet and set up a colony in the Outer Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, over 30,000 light years from Old Terra. Once they arrived, they no longer had communication with the rest of the Fourth Terran Empire from which they came. Unable to return and without guidance or support, the Colonists spent hundreds of years reliving the same mistakes of Old Terra, relearning lost lessons of science and culture.

Now, under the unifying Banner of House Indaris, the Indari Hegemony has risen as the sole political, economic and military power on Haven and they are ready to venture back out in the stars with your guidance.

As both the seat of the Hegemony AND the House Indaris, Haven is a shining beacon of prosperity, industrial might and culture for those who live in the sector of the Outer Arm known as The Logos Reach.

In the past hundred years, advances in agriculture and medical science have seen both an increase in lifespans and birth rates and it is from this catalyst of human growth that the New Dawn will draw upon the manpower that will sustain it.

Haven, however wealthy and populous is a cold world with an average temperature at the the equator of 6.2 C to -50.5 C at the poles. The planet has only a minor axial tilt and therefore has no seasons, but for obvious reasons the polar caps are nearly inhospitable and are generally unused except for research and communications relays.

The population is concentrated in two bands around the center of the planet on landmasses and a series of floating cities with the absolute equator of the planet being used primarily for agriculture in vast city sized hydroponics centers. The planet suffers from frequent tectonic shifts and benefits from the near-limitless geothermal energy provided by thermal vents in the oceans.

The planet was already host to native species of flora and fauna well adapted to the cold environment. These have been domesticated or hybridized with Terran stock to produce human-consumable foodstuff that grows readily on Haven.

The planet is a mix of different Houses and travelers from all over the Hegemony wind up there on it's 5 different starports and many Spire-cities. It is the seat of the House Indaris and on the micro-continent of Respite, the Palace-Metropolis of the Indari Hegemony sprawls like a glacier threatening to engulf the sea.
