You do have Mabrooks folding boat to go up river.
And I'm sure you can borrow, rent or procure another boat somewhere past the Deacon-Town port and taverns.

There are farmlands and farmers who use the river to transport their goods.

Can Relwyk cast Guards and Wards over the ship and be able to find it as the spell's originator?

For purpose of finding it to teleport back to?

You will be around 25ish miles away, so most detect abilities are useless. And you wont get a "ping" feeling where the ship is.

Hmmm. Maybe just a Fog bank to obscure it, then.

Oh, wait. Mirage Arcana would do the trick without making me lose that 'ping' feeling, right?

I'm able to access all Arcane spells. Does that include Bard spells?

That spell is also a sorcerer/wizard spell. So yes.
I think you're putting too much thought and effort into something in character you would just "try" thinking it would do the trick. Not deliberating all morning in game about what to cast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the mists less powerful lower down, near the ground?

That hadn't been looked at. The mists are about 10-15 feet above the water at the top. Same away from the waterfall. and again the same above the pool at the bottom.

The only things discovered about the most is that 5 feet in. A warding effect confuses the mind to where you are. There is no save and no resistance to it.

The rock slopes to either side are dangerous to climb, however the left side has a path you spotted that you can climb up without skill checks or issue.

If flying or hovering uo, just indicate where you do it, ie if you fly up along the waterfall or fly up along the rocks.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 9):

So, to confirm, we've got mists that hug the ground and confound the mind as to direction. They also hug the ground around the visible paths? So that there is no apparent way to avoid the mists?

If the only effect is loss of orientation, we could simply accept the effect while following something not affected. Maybe the compass won't be affected and thus we have nothing to worry about as long as we follow the compass and stick together until we're through the mists. This could simply be like a giant door to which the compass is the intended key.

sticking close to the ground and paths are ok; walking and climbing. but anything that flies will potentially have issues.
