Diary of Life...

Mortals know it as a mecca of country music and a relatively safe city.  Indeed as a minor seat of power for the Camarilla and the home to several elders it was relatively free of the conflict with the Anarchs and Sabbat.  Even the shapeshifters had been pushed back into the Rocky Mountains.  There was no threat to the power of the court or their Prince, Calen White.....or so we thought...

It was cold that winter, I still remember the cold feel of the wind against my skin.  Though it was a waste of vitae I still cherished the feeling.  It reminded me of simpler days...heh...for that matter days period.  Through scheming and manipulating I had risen in the ranks and was given province of the area around the LP Field.  Though my jurisdiction ended just before the downtown area I still enjoyed many a night there.  The music, the mortals, the life...ahh, such good days those were.

That night late in October I was listening to music and watching the mortals walk by.  The night was young and it was alive.  I drank to blend in and though the liquid tasted bland it caused my lips to tingle.  I took no notice as I had nothing to fear in this city.

A young woman approached.  Her smile and form were enticing but something seemed out of place with here.  Still the devilish grin stole my attention...how could I have missed it?  She closed the ground slowly and as she did I started to feel a strange sensation that reminded me of my younger years.  It took me too long to place the uneasy feeling in my gut.  By the time my mind woke up from the lecherous thoughts of enjoying the mortal flesh it was too late.  She was too close.  True Faith...the nauseating feel overtook me.  Though I wanted to run it was too late she was too close and her faith was so strong it sapped my strength quickly.  She sat down next to me and whispered into my ear..."I know what you are, fiend.  Tell me...how did you fall so easily?"

I sneered but couldn't reply.  My throat felt like it was closing up.  She tapped the glass in front of me and ran her fingerr around the rim of the glass.  "Diluted...but still potent.  Did you know that biological agents affect everywhere the blood flows?  Your attempts to look mortal have aided your demise."

How did they know what I was?  This was a question I would not know the answer to for some time...
