E2S3 - Blue Sea R&D - Angelfish, Ty'daal, Ian, Time Keeper
The laboratory space at Blue Sea Research & Development extends out over the water What appears to be an indoor pool adjacent to the lab space is actually a 'moon pool', open at the bottom, allowing free access to the sea. Ian and Ty'daal are floating comfortably in the pool.

Angelfish and Time Keeper are seated nearby.

Dr. Ishida is standing in front of the big wall-screen display. It shows a map of the entire Pacific Ocean. "These are the locations of the ships that have disappeared." He says. Red triangles appear on the display. "The Missus K. was in the Sea of Japan, the Strong Currant was twelve hundred kilometers south. The Francis E. was west of Midway Island." He indicates Hawai'i's location. "The Hitomi Maru was attacked just west of here. If Ian is right, and there were three mecha-squid built, the other two must be searching for additional prey right now."

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R
Angela rises to study the map.  "We need a way to track those things.  Even if they're going out from Southern Shore in a straight line, that's a lot of territory to cover.  Ty'daal was able to hear the attack on the Hitomi Maru but he was only, what, a couple of miles away?"  She turns to Ben, "Can you control your visions?  I mean, can you... reach out into the time-stream looking for something specific, or do you just have to wait for things to come to you?"

Ian:
[OOC: Massive Success! Massive data dump! :)]
Given a starting point at Southern Shore Corporation, and an eventual destination just off the Ross Ice Shelf (as the mecha-squid programming indicated), and given that there is a high likelihood that the Hitomi Maru was targeted by the same mecha-squid that took the Francis E., the mecha-squid appear to be working a counter-clockwise sweep around the western Pacific. Tuna fishing ships work the continental shelves, therefore it seems likely to you that the next targets will be encountered off the coast of Papua New Guinea, or in the Solomon Sea.

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R
Time Keeper thought for a moment " I can give it a go I've never used it to track anything before just to see how my choices will turn out and then pick the best thing to do."

He closed his eyes and he was instantly surrounded by the time stream. Ok what action to take? he thought to himself before settling on one. He went swimming through time following the time line that saw him heading to the center point between all the attacks. If I were here what would happen to me. he thought.

OOC: 10:40, Today: Time Keeper rolled -4 using 2d6-7. precog (6).total = 2

Time Keeper:
Your precognitive visions are a jumble; broken fragments that seem to be from different, diverging timelines.

Steel tentacles lash across a ship's deck, cracking it in half and spilling sailors into the shark-filled water! Six tiny figures, stranded alone on a vast white plain of ice. A tropical shoreline with towering mountains inland, and a huge metal squid-thing floating inert in the bay. Another vision of ice, with swarming silver things firing bright laser beams down at figures in the snow! Angelfish and the mighty Ty'daal struggling within a cluster of lashing metal coils! Yourself, running flat out across the ocean's surface toward them!

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R
"I believe we should engage the enemy directly at their domicile," Ty'daal speaks, swimming to the side of the moon pool and laying his arms on the edge. "My war chieftain taught me that without leadership, the enemy will falter more quickly. If we strike at the individuals who control the mecha-squid we can perhaps disable them from that location, or if not disable most likely track them more easily."

Ishida-san's ever-present cigarette bobs in the corner of his mouth as he mumbles, doing the math in his head. "The coordinates you gave off Antarctica are 6500 nautical miles from here. That's about 12,000 kilometers. The Kiyomi Maru can hit 40 knots in a sprint--75 kilometers per hour--but for long-range we'd be averaging more like 25..." He shakes his head. "It's a week away at top speed, not counting stops to refuel. We'd need four... Although at 6 knots we could do the whole trip on half a tank of biodiesel because she's so efficient..."

[OOC: At 6 knots, it would also take over forty days to get there, so that mission profile is a non-starter. :)]

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R&D
Dr. Ishida puts an external security camera feed into a pop-up box on the main monitor. "Does anyone know this young man?" Then he shrugs. "He's dressed for the party; I might as well let him in." He addresses his last comment soto voce to Angela as he heads for the main entrance. "You're going to need all the help you can get."

When he returns, Todd is with him, and also Nereid, both in their superhero costumes.

Todd:
A short man of Japanese extraction, with salt-and-pepper hair and wearing a white lab-coat appears in the reception area inside the tinted glass door. He pushes a button behind a desk and buzzes you in. You follow him (and his trail of cigarette smoke) down a hall and into a brightly-lit oceanic laboratory. An attractive redhead who looks vaguely familiar is standing next to Time Keeper. Ty'daal is lounging at the edge of the indoor pool in the lab, and a humanoid creature with green frills, gills, and enormous fish-eyes is floating just beneath the surface of the pool! You're just a little awe-struck to be in Amm-Fib'ian's actual presence--not many people ever get to meet him in person.

Nereid:
You recognize Ty'daal and Timekeeper from yesterday, and Amm-Fib'ian's true form from the rare appearances he has made on the news. The young redhead is obviously the woman wearing the high-tech diving suit who was with Ty'daal yesterday, but you look at her twice anyway. Now that you can see her face clearly, she looks oddly familiar...

Time Keeper opens his eyes and refocuses on the room. " Couldn't get a very good reading there are too many possibilities to shift through to make an accurate decision. It might be better if we set a course of action then it will narrow down the time possibilities and I could try again."

He rubbed his eyes " the only problem with that is we might make the right plan of action void by the choice we make now  but that is the way with time"

" One thing is certain whichever path we take it will be dangerous the only differences will be the attackers and the location of the attack... Which is the lesser of the evils cannot be seen clearly at the moment..... Sorry"

Ian sees Todd enter raises a hand in greeting.

"Ah, Todd. Have you settled on a suitably heroic name yet? ... and perhaps an action phrase?"

Dr. Ishida looks at Todd's chest, skeptically. "I thought the idea of a costume and mask was to keep your identities a secret." He mumbles to Nereid as he walks back to the display screen.

"The Kiyomi Maru has six bunks. When we're at sea, ahem... Angela and I generally, ah, share accommodations."
He looks toward the moon pool. "I assume you gentlemen won't be sleeping aboard? If not, we should have sufficient room."

OOC: Okay, I'm using Determination, trying to get a Major Success.
You rolled 2,3 using d6,d6 ((2,3))
-1, +9 Int, -8, missed by 4, that's 2 points determination for a Major Success (I think!)
Tagging "Last Merman of a Vanished Race" to use the determination and going down to 3 Determination left.

Ian gets to work on a Merman sub.

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R
Angela smiles and gives a little wave in greeting to Kai and Todd (rolling her eyes just a little at Todd's "disguise").

"How do you feel about a little sea voyage?" She turns back to the display screen.  "Do we have a better option than head for the Solomons and hope we get a hit?  Hope Ben has a vision?  'Cause right now, that's looking like our plan.  At 25 knots, we're looking at..." she breaks off, doing a quick mental calculation. "about a week and a half in each other company on board the Kiyomi.  We'll either get to be really good friends, or we'll kill each other!" She laughs a little...  "It's a crazy plan, but I'm willing to give it a go... unless anyone has a better idea..."

OOC: If the math is off, let me know and I'll fix it... my math sucks but I'm assuming that Angela knows what she's talking about!

"I'm up for it. Danger waits for no man. Or woman."

Todd frowns.

"That reminds me. I have some stuff to talk about with Super Secondhand... Doc Tick-Tock... I keep forgetting your name.

Anyhoo, some terminator-type from the future, λ-719, has stolen (or will steal, I guess), a time machine, and wants to change the past (which is the present - or future, but near future, not far future). Uhhhhh."

His rambling explanation fizzles out.

"Seemed like your kinda thing," he finished lamely.

"It sounds like a fine solution to me. And if we have some horrible accident and your vessel sinks into the depths, I know at least I will survive," Ty'daal says with a straight face, though the slight inclination of his head might be the first indication of some sense of humor in the normally stoic warrior.

Re: E2S3 - Blue Sea R
Ian:
You borrow a few things from Dr. Ishida, and swim out into the underbelly of the commercial port to grab a few discarded items off the bay floor. Ishida-san even has an underwater welding rig you can use. Not as fancy as the AquaWeld lasers that built the mecha-squid, but it will do.
[OOC: You have a vehicle! It has Handling 4, Aquatic Speed 4, and Structure 4 making it roughly the equivalent of a dolphin in terms of performance, though a bit more fragile. It can sustain 25 knots as a cruising speed, and with Handling 4 it should be able to turn like one as well. It's basically a hot-rod mini-sub, stripped of everything you don't need--like life support. :) Tell us what it looks like, and how you ride it. (Astride? Lying prone? Curled into a ball and hanging on for dear life?)]

Angelfish:
[OOC: Your math is accurate.]
Ishida-san begins working out a course to the Antarctica coordinates by way of the Solomon Island chain. "We can refuel at Kiribati, then Samoa..." He mumbles.

Nereid:
You put in a quick cell-phone call to Brent back at your office. He can arrange for a couple of Teaching Assistants to cover your lectures, and he thinks that Dr. Hall will be able to take your office hours if any students have questions. He might be just a little bit gleeful about subjecting your students to Dr. Hall. Before he hangs up, he says; "Is everything OK, Dr. Maheloni? If there's anything I can do..." The concern in his voice is clear.

Ty'daal:
[OOC: I really have to stop sneaking peeks at this on my breaks at work. I almost choked to death trying not to laugh out loud!]
