Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
"no problem I'll keep it to a normal pace for you." he said with a smile as they set off. " Can I ask you something, How long have you known the rest of the group? and have you been doing this thing long."

They turned a corner and headed out away from the docks " I'm a clock maker by trade it runs in the family, I never saw myself as a hero but my ...well my powers have helped safe people so I feel responsible to use them for good. These last few days have been the first time I've put on a costume and used them in public. I usually just call the incident in and let the authorities deal with it"

Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
Angela laughs.  "I certainly don't think of myself as a superhero!  I'm a student at the University of Hawa'ii; marine biology mostly, although my doctoral thesis is on dolphin language; that's how I got into the whole "superhero" thing - my suit wasn't designed for fighting crime, it was designed for ultra-deep sea diving!  I just met the others myself; I mean, if you live in Hawa'ii for any length of time, you'll see Ian on TV, but we'd never met before.  I think I've seen Kai around the campus, but I'm hardly there anymore; not since I started working with Ishada-san..."

She trails off briefly, concentrating on a rough patch of ground. "It was just a coincidence that Ty'daal and I both showed up to deal with the mecha-squid."

She falls silent again, concentrating on the path and the scenery.

Todd wanders along the beach. "There's a lot of doing-nothing in the superhero business."

He looks out at the Bay of Wrecks, and figures he might kill some time swimming out in the bay, looking for sunken ships. Grabbing his mask and snorkel he paddles out into the water.

In reply to Todd (msg # 6):

Kai looks around she didn't have a board and this place doesn't have the breaks for surfing but a swim would do nicely.

She wanders into water and begins to swim.

Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
Angelfish, Time Keeper:
As you jog up the coast road, the Aeon Airfield is to your left--a small commercial airstrip with a single runway. The beautiful Bay of Wrecks curves around to the right. There isn't much traffic, just a few locals on bicycles who are happy to make room for you on the road.

About a mile up the coast road from the Aeon dock, you catch up to a couple of bicyclists who're stopped, and pointing out into the bay. They're speaking the local Polynesian dialect, but as you approach they switch to English. "Look! Lightning underwater!"

Todd, Nereid:
The water is warm, the waves are mild, the fish are bright-colored and numerous, schooling around any clump of coral in the bay. Several of those clumps look like they might be the reason the place is called the Bay of Wrecks...

Suddenly, out in the deepest part of the bay, you spot a bright flash of blue light!

Todd frowns at the light. He's no oceanographer, but it doesn't look right. It wouldn't hurt to check it out.

He swims towards the light.

"That can't be good!  We better move!" Angela turns back toward the dock, stepping up her pace from a jog to an all out sprint - whatever's going on out there, she'll need the suit to investigate and minutes are ticking by far too quickly!

Todd:
You start swimming toward the flash. It looked to be pretty deep.
[OOC: Next page, when you get close, you'll need to Test Strength to hold your breath when you dive. Each page you stay submerged the Test gets harder. :)]

Angelfish:
[OOC: You and Time Keeper are about a mile away from the dock--the current Olympic women's record for a 1 mile sprint is 4 minutes 12.56 seconds. Plus five minutes to suit up, purge air, and switch to liquid breathing. Gain 1 Determination and take the temporary Challenge 'Too Damn Far And Not Enough Time!' You can spend 1 Determination to buy out of this and sprint for it anyway, or accept it and come up with a different idea.]

Time Keeper easily catches the young lady up, with a quick look over his shoulder to make sure the cyclists aren't looking " Stop a moment and grab onto me" He said offering her his hands. "I can get us there in no time if you don't mind being carried"

As he spoke the part of his mind that was forever in the swirl of the time streams quickly traced the time line for this moment to see the possible outcome of everyones actions.

OOC: 07:14, Today: Time Keeper rolled 2 using 2d6-7. precog roll (6) use determination point total = 8 + determination (master of time)

Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
Angela picks up her pace, even as she realizes that the distance is too great.  She's in good shape, but it will still take way too long to reach the boat and suit up.  Still...

quote:
"Stop a moment and grab onto me.  I can get us there in no time if you don't mind being carried"

She skids to a halt and turns to see Ben... Time Keeper holding his hands out to her.  She nods quickly.

"Yeah, sure, I'm not proud!"  She steps toward Time Keeper and lets him lift her in his arms...

OOC: I'm willing to take the Determination and the temporary challenge, but I think Time Keeper's offer has rendered that a moot point.  Your call Gamemaster.

Angelfish:
[OOC: Not moot at all. You get the Determination for accepting the Compel. 'Coming up with a different idea' includes hitching a ride with/on Ben. :)]

Time Keeper:
Time around you slows as you sprint toward the ship, and the air feels thick as you push through it. The waves lapping the shore move slowly, like molasses. To the outside world, you're just a blur.

As you run, your mind expands, seeing the futures unfold before you.

All the futures hold peril for those in the water; fighting, flashes of electricity, drifting eddies of blood. You can see clearly a humanoid sea-creature with broad fins, a triangular head, and a barbed tail fighting with Ty'daal and Todd. It is savage and blindingly fast! One future shows Nereid being pulled beneath the ocean's surface! In another you see Angelfish sitting on the Kiyomi Maru's stern in tears.

In reply to Todd (msg # 16):

Nereid sees the flash and tries to figure out how to get over there.

She quickly swims back to shore, and races to he boat.

Hey Cap'n how quickly could we get into the seaůsomething bad is going on and T.O.D.D. is swimming over, I can't keep up.

Todd:
[OOC: Test Strength against a Difficulty of 3. Each panel, that Difficulty increases by +1. A Major Success means you have no trouble. A Moderate Success means you're getting winded and lose 2 Stamina. Failing the Test means you pass out and start to drown.]
[OOC: Take a deep breath, and take your next action in E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub. Remember, operating underwater means you take -1 to all physical actions because of the additional water resistance. You will still get your Martial Arts bonus.]

Nereid:
Running across the gangplank, you see Dr. Ishida and two locals wearing cut-offs and nothing else wrangling a heavy hose connecting the research ship to a bulky and slightly rusty WWII-era tender.

"Put out to sea? The tanks are barely half-full! It will be another forty minutes at least before we can depart." Ishida-san replies.

One of the hose-men looks up, grinning, (and pretty clearly checking you out). "Where'd you need to go? I've got a zodiac, can get you anywhere on the island. Twenty dollars."

Just then Ben arrives, skidding to a stop and dropping Angela on the Kiyomi Maru's fantail.

Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
Angela had been hoping to recruit Ishida-san to assist her in suiting up, and looks with dismay at the locals on board.  Spotting Kai gives her a different plan...

(Very casually )"Kai!  Have any experience diving?  I thought I'd go in while we're in port, can you give me a hand?"  Leading Kai out of earshot, she continues, "We're going out to see what's up.  Do you need dive equipment, or will your... abilities be sufficient?"

Without waiting for an answer, Angela begins suiting up as quickly as possible...

Angelfish opens a different locker, "This is just your basic scuba gear, no armor or weapons, but it'll do the job.  You can dive, can't you?"

Angelfish returns to her own equipment, double checking the missile pods and stealing herself to breath water...

Ben turned to Angelfish " Can you cope by yourself I need to get out there to get people out fast if they are hurt."

With that he zipped out across the beach. He focused on the time streams that he rode at speed and skipped onto the ones that lead out to sea.

Ben:
Hurtling down the beach to build up speed, when you make a sharp turn into the ocean, the water beneath your feet is time-slowed and thickened. It's like running on jello--but only as long as you keep running!
[OOC: Running on water is a Super-speed Stunt. Spend 1 Determination and tag an appropriate Quality, then Test Super-speed vs a Difficulty of 7.]

Angelfish, Nereid:
It takes you several minutes to suit up. The fueler's deck hands goggle and stare at how odd the エンゼルフィッシュ Mk. VII looks when you get back to the deck--but they've already come to terms with how odd the Kiyomi Maru looks, compared to most ships.
[OOC: Because of the time required here, I'm giving the underwater thread another page before you enter. Feel free to converse. :)]

Re: E2S4 - The Kiyomi Maru, South Pacific - A, T, N, TK
Time Keeper's abilities have bought them precious minutes, but it feels as if they're all needed to get suited up, especially with the added distraction of helping Nereid into her gear...

Never-the-less, Angelfish welcomes the distraction... it keeps her from dwelling on what must be down there.

"Everything feels right?  You're getting air?" (OOC: Insert dialog here about the scuba gear that is actually correct!  I have no idea... I can't even swim!:) )  Angelfish checks the hoses on Nereid's rig and prepares to flood her own suit.  "Ready?"

If Nereid has no comments or questions, Angelfish will close her helmet and flood the suit, taking deep "breaths" of the special fluid.  As prepared as she'll ever be, she dives off the Kiyomi into the bay...

(OOC:  I'll see everyone in the underwater thread, unless Nereid and Angelfish have something else to talk about)

Kai gave Angelfish a thumbs up, the equipment was functioning well, and Kai had dived before. She preferred surfing but she was not a stranger being under the sea.

Now she just wondered what good her abilities would do out there...
