Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - I, Ty, T
Angelfish expected Skate to attack her once she made herself known - what she didn't expect was his attack on Nereid!

No, no, no!!!

(OOC:
10:54, Today: Angelfish rolled 3,6 using d6,d6. Dodge Skate's tail!
-3 on the dice, my Prowess is 5 giving me a score of 2)

Expecting him to attack head-on, Angelfish is caught out by his feint!

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Ian:
Your danger sense had you kicking backward away from Skate before he reflexively triggered his electroplaques! Your body continues to drift backward, even as your consciousness shifts into the tiger shark.

Angelfish:
The barb  on Skate's tail rakes across the kevlar-neoprene of the Angelfish suit! [OOC: His Strength is 6, your armor absorbs 4 points of the damage, so you take 2 Stamina from the attack.]

The last time you encountered Skate he didn't have a tail, barbed or otherwise. His mutation is progressing...

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
The shark opens its mouth and with powerful strokes of its tail, it ruches in to slam into Skate...

OOC: You rolled 5,4 using d6,d6 ((5,4)).
Roll = +1
I don't know what I would add to this roll, the Sharks attack?

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
As his fins get near me, I let out a telepathic shout

Hands off Mr. Grabby! You could at least take me to dinner first!

She tries to fight him off but Skate wraps her up in his powerful arms.

OOC: Prowess 6

22:18, Today: Nereid rolled 2,3 using d6,d6 with rolls of 2,3. Not get grabbed .

2-3= -1

5  Dang it I am grabbed. Is this damage or am I just grabbed?

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Ian:
[OOC: As a tiger shark, you have  PRO 5 COORD 3 STR 5 INT 1 AWE 4 WILL 4 Stamina 9, Aquatic 2, Bite (slashing) 5. Have fun squeezing your INT 9 into it's INT 1. :) To answer your question, you'd add it's Prowess of 5, so your total is 6. Unfortunately, Skate's Prowess is 8.]

Nereid:
Skate's arm-fins are broad and powerful, and he envelops you--just as a ten-foot tiger shark slams into the two of you, teeth first!
[OOC: Skate's got you in a partial hold--you're at -2 to all actions, and you can't move away from him until you break free of his grip. You do that by testing either Prowess or Strength vs his Strength of 6. On a Massive Success you can actually reverse the hold, and be restraining him!]

Skate rolls, taking the impact of the shark's nose against his tough torso but avoiding it's snapping jaws. Reflexively, his electric field sends a powerful jolt into the water!

Ian & Nereid:
[OOC: Since you're both in direct physical contact with Skate when he fires the jolt, Nereid & the tiger shark each suffer 4 Stamina damage.]

[OOC: Skate's attacks started this page. Ian has acted. Everyone else can go in whatever order you all like!]

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Shaking his head clear, Todd reorientation on the fight. He wasn't expecting that jolt, and as powerful ad his lungs are he needs to finish this soon.

Plus his friends are in danger. He doesn't have many friends, and he's not losing any today. Time for a plan...

Skate is holding Neireid. The bad news for Skate is that means he isn't moving much either.

Todd grabs a unsuspecting passing octopus, and hurls the terrified feature at Skate's head, trying to immobilise him. Or at least restrict his ability to fight.

[First the Strength test to stay under: Strength 8 + Roll -3 = 5 vs difficulty 5. Just made it.

Now for a binding attack: Binding 6 (-1 for being underwater); Coordination 6-1 + Roll 1 = 6. I'll spend a Determination on Peak Physical Perfection if it helps.]

Uggh... damn that hurt!  Nothing seems to be bleeding or broken though...

The barb from Skate's tail may not have been able to penetrate Angelfish's armor, but the blow still leaves her bruised and a little shaken.  Reorienting herself on Skate, she sees Nereid struggling in his grasp.

Can't fire, I'd kill Nereid!  Gotta get him to let her go... come after me instead

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Ian:
[OOC: Yes. Physical effects go to the host body, mental and emotional effects go to you via T.U.N.A.]
The electric jolt angers the tiger shark--and it's limited mental capacity is finely-tuned for aggression! That limited capacity means the T.U.N.A. struggles with projecting your mentality into the shark; the creature's emotions feed back through the link in a disturbing fashion.

Todd:
The octopus is startled by being snatched up off the coral bed and flung through the water! It wraps all eight legs around Skate's head in sheer panic, and Skate roars with anger, grabbing at the offending creature with one hand--making his grip on Nereid all the more precarious!
[OOC: I'm assuming you're going for a Major Success, here; the total cost is 2 Determination. By the way, I love this action!]

Angelfish:
Peeling one clinging tentacle from across his mouth, Skate bares razor-sharp teeth in your direction. "Yes, my fight is with you" he rumbles, venom in his voice. "All the more reason for me to take away someone you care about!"
[OOC: Test Willpower vs Skate's Willpower of 4 to persuade/provoke him.]

[OOC: After Angelfish's roll, Ty'daal, Nereid, and Time Keeper are up!]

Time keeper moves out across the surface of the water. Not sure what he could do when he got there he kept his speed to max and moved on at the same time his mind was stroking the time lines to see if he could at least direct the team to success

OOC: 08:07, Today: Time Keeper rolled 2 using 2d6-7. Precog (6). Total 8

[OOC Yes re: a major success, determination down to 3, and I'm glad you like the improvised binding attacks. They're my favourite combat action in this game.

My favourite non-combat action is being a dork, of course. ;) ]

Got to buy Nereid some time, get her away from Skate, get him to come after me with out hurting her!

Angelfish can feel her heart pounding, Skate is dangerously insane, provoking him is the worst possible thing she could do, but she can't fight, can't fire until Nereid is away from him!

DID NOT TAKE HIM

U LEFT

U HURT HER   U BREAK HIS HEART

AGAIN

Come on dammit!  Let her go!  Come after me!

(OOC:15:36, Today: Angelfish rolled 5,6 using d6,d6. Provoke Skate.
-1 on the dice gives me a Willpower of 3)

Time Keeper:
[OOC: Don't forget, you can use your Precognition power to 'retcon' an event that just happened into a precognitive warning, and then intervent to change it. @_@]

Angelfish:
Skate is angry, dark blue blotches appear on his cheeks and neck. "彼の心について私に話さないでください、あなたは娼婦!" he shouts, shaking Nereid like a rag-doll! He may have lost his grasp on English, but not his grasp on Nereid.

[Ty'daal and Nereid are up! Time Keeper is 'holding' and testing the time-streams, ready to intervene as necessary.]

Ty'daal, now thoroughly angry after being evaded and then shocked by the creature's bio-electricity, bellowed "Unhand her. Now." He sailed through the water, his shoulder lowered aiming for Skate's blindside.

(17:06, Today: Ty'daal rolled 5,2 using d6,d6 with rolls of 5,2. Slam (Prowess +3). Total: +6. Strength for damage is 8.)

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Ty'daal:
[OOC: Given that Skate's at -2 from being grabbed and hampered by Todd's thrown octopus, you have a Moderate Success!]
Your shoulder-ram slams Skate down into the coral and sand of the bay floor! Startled, he releases his hold on Nereid--but his other startle reaction is to flare with stuttering electrical energy!

Ty'daal, Nereid:
[OOC: You both take 3 Stamina from Skate's rapidly-depleting electroplaques. So does the octopus!]

Battered, bruised, and with his electrical powers visibly weakened, in a thickened voice Skate still berates Angelfish; "You're leading him into danger again, aren't you? Even with your allies around you, if your foolishness gets him hurt you will answer to me!"

With that, he burrows rapidly into the sand!

[OOC: Nereid and Time Keeper can still act on this page, otherwise Skate has been driven off--at least for now. :)]

Just before Skate flees Nereid eyes glow purple and she reaches into his mind.

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Nereid:
Emotionally, he seethes with rage; not just at the pain in his ribs and head, but focused strongly on Angelfish. His mind is a red haze, but some of his memories are quite close to the surface:

::Memory of diving, inside something like the Angelfish suit, and feeling like he's drowning!::Memory of shame, as a younger-looking Dr. Ishida berates him in Japanese for his shortcomings::Memory of a darkened laboratory, a glowing syringe, injecting his own arm with something::Memory of seeing the younger Dr. Ishida kissing a very young-looking Angela Fiske::Memory of stalking through the ocean, cool water against his arm-fins, hunting and battling Angelfish::

The last thoughts you catch aren't a memory, they're more like a fantasy:

::Somewhere in the deep ocean, Skate and Angelfish struggling with one another. One of his fists hammers against her helmet again and again... The glass cracks, then shatters! Blue rebreather fluid spreads into the icy water, and Angelfish begins to drown...::

Then Skate disappears beneath the seabed...

NO 1 HURT

The emotionless computer-generated voice provides a stark contrast to Angelfish's worried - almost panicked - expression.

GOOD

Need to get back to the boat... I really don't want him to hear about this from Ben and Todd...  not that I'm likely to have a choice...

"I am upright. I don't suspect anyone can be always right."
Ian goes back to tinkering with the sub for a moment and then looks up again.
"Does that sufficiently answer your question?"

Re: E2S5 - Ian's mini-sub - Everyone
Ian:
The power surge damaged some of the mini-sub's battery cores, but with a few minutes work you can re-route around the damage and get it operational again. With Ty'daal's help, you can 'push start' the mini-sub by getting it close enough to the research ship to begin inductive recharging.
