E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
Dr. Ishida settles up with the deck hands from the tender, and doesn't even try to explain the phenomenal sight of Time Keeper running on water.

He checks the Kiyomi Maru's sonar, but the signal is unclear. Too many things moving too close together. Whatever they're doing down there, on sonar they look like a school of fish! He thinks, shutting off the screen in disgust as he gazes out across the Bay of Wrecks.

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
Angelfish swims swiftly back to the Kiyomi Maru, her thoughts a jumble...

Shouldn't have left Nereid, should have made sure she could get back O.K.

Just want to talk to Ishida before any one else does...

As she climbs onto the fantail, Angela is mildly surprised to note that she is the first one back.  Ishida is obsessively checking gear, working through nervous tension rather than completing necessary work.  He seems relieved to see her, and quickly heads over to help with the suit.

It seems to take a lifetime to drain the suit, and yet it's still too fast for Angela...  She brushes aside Ishida-san's questions and concerns...

"It was him, kyoushi

He's getting worse..."

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
Time Keeper came out of his trance still running his mind had lost itself in the possible outcomes of time and space. He would have to control his power better than that especially as others lifes depended on it.

This time he was lucky that they had managed to fend off the attack without him turning back time which he was greatful for as the effort taken to do that was enormous.

Seeing the vessel surface the Time Master slowed his speed to a reletive crawl but still fast enough to allow him to stay on the surface of the water. With little effort he glided into a stop on the hull of the sub.

Ty'daal floats on his back beside the Kiyomi Maru in the bay waters, relaxing after the battle with Skate. The creature seemed to know Angelfish well, and the warrior pondered on what that meant for the future.

Todd sits deep in thought.

"Y'know, if I'm going to be doing a lotta fighting underwater I should get some scuba gear, or something."

[ICON doesn't reall have gear rules. Is there a workaround for this? Or is this a feature, not a bug? Given the genre it's a valid answer.]

In reply to Todd (msg # 6):

OOC: Dain will have to give his opinion, obviously, but Angela loaned scuba gear to Kai from the Kiyomi Maru's lockers.  I don't see any reason why Todd couldn't just buy a set of scuba gear for himself, or ask Angela and Ishida to loan him some.

In reply to Angelfish (msg # 7):

Kai swims back to the boat. She wondered when "Skate" would attack again, from what she saw in his mind...he will be back with a vengeance.

Arriving she gets out of the scuba gear, see how long it will be before the "shove off"

Dr. Ishida looks at Angela carefully, noting the ragged mark across the suit's torso left by Skate's tail. Everyone can see both sorrow and concern mixed in his eyes, but his voice is hard. "Worse? How so?"

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
Angela follows his gaze, noticing - really noticing - the damage for the first time.  She takes a deep breath, and tries to think like the biologist she is, tries to put aside her personal feelings.

"He's continuing to mutate... He's developed a tail, with barbs more like a rays... I don't know if they're venomous... fortunately none of us were in a position to find out."  She sighs a little raggedly, finding it difficult to maintain her professional detachment.  "I think he's been following us since we left the lab.  Kyoushi, he thinks he's protecting you!  From me...  Another deep, ragged breath.  He threatened Nereid...  threatened to kill her to teach me how it feels to lose...

Angela trails off, professional facade completely shattered, tears welling in her eyes.

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
"He's becoming more agressive, more irrational." Dr. Ishida looks down at the deck, unable to meet Angela's eyes--or Nereid's. "I... I am sorry." After a moment of strained silence, he turns and heads into the Kiyomi Maru's cockpit.

Almost immediately, he shouts from inside. "The GMDSS is reporting another fishing vessel missing! Last known position 2000 kilometers east of Auckland." Without giving anyone a chance to strap in or hang on, the research vessel's engines thrumm as Ishida-san pulls away from the floating dock. Within seconds, her prow is lifting out of the water as the ship comes up on her hydrofoils at full speed!

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - A, N, T, TK
Time keeper looked over the map and located the last position of the missing ship. Looking out over the sea he focused his mind. The time lines were so fresh he could taste them. His mind zoomed out looking for the past history of the missing ship one that he could ride to the present and perhaps the near future.

OOC:08:55, Today: Time Keeper rolled -4 using 2d6-7. Percog.(6) total 2

Time Keeper:
The timelines are strongly entangled; somewhere ahead of you in both time and space are men in lifeboats...

In many futures, their timelines end before they are found. In some--only a few--they're rescued before that happens. But some of those latter timelines lead to a bleak plain of ice, and six bodies in the snow...

You come out of your vision with only one certainty: Time is of the essence!

[A Marginal Success means 'cryptic clues and visions open to interpretation'. Cryptic enough for you? :)]

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - Everyone
Everyone aboard spends a restless night, getting a few hours sleep. Dawn finds you at the last known coordinates of the fishing trawler Tamatea-Ariki-Nui, out of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Dr. Ishida is still at the helm, red-eyed. He hasn't slept, either because of pushing the Kiyomi Maru hard through the night, or perhaps for more personal reasons. His ashtray is overflowing, his coffee mug empty. "Nothing on radar or sonar. I've been in contact with New Zealand Air/Sea Rescue off and on during the night. There's been no further signal from the trawler."

He looks into his empty mug, then sets it back down on the cramped side-console. "A couple other ships have volunteered to aid in the search, but the New Zealand Coast Guard ships are still hours away even at flank speed. Meanwhile, the mecha-squid--if it was a mecha-squid--won't be staying put..."

Re: E2S6 - The Kiyomi Maru, refueled - Everyone
Angela paces the deck, restless and unhappy.  Her eyes are puffy and red with tears and lack of sleep.  The tension between her and Ishida is palpable, confirming to those aboard the Kiyomi that the half-heard conversations in the night were, in fact, the two of them arguing.

She stops at the sound of Ishida's voice from the bridge.
quote:
"Nothing on radar or sonar. I've been in contact with New Zealand Air/Sea Rescue off and on during the night. There's been no further signal from the trawler. A couple other ships have volunteered to aid in the search, but the New Zealand Coast Guard ships are still hours away even at flank speed. Meanwhile, the mecha-squid--if it was a mecha-squid--won't be staying put..."

"That's it, I'm going in.  Nothing I can do up here... maybe there's some clue about what happened that's not showing up on the equipment."

She strides quickly to the special equipment locker and withdraws the Angelfish suit.

"Anyone want to join me?"

She studiously does not look to the bridge -- or at the ragged scar on her armor.

In the cockpit, Dr. Ishida throttles back, and flips the switch to activate the hydrophones. Underwater, his voice carries like a tympani. "Ian, Ty'daal, my sonar's clear down to four thousand meters. Do you see anything?"

Ian, being weakened by Sonar, is hanging back out of Dr. Ishida's search pattern.

"Doctor, if you redirect your sonar, we will descend and have a look."

Ben pulled on his mask " I'll take topside" He said to Angelfish As he hit the water running.

He circled the boat for a moment but knowing there was limited time and concerned about his visions he took the decision to shoot off in the direction they were going trying to find a main time stream the closer he got to the site of the disappearance.
