E2S8 - The Kiyomi Maru - Strategy Session - A, N, I, T, Ty
Coffee, hot food, heat--all in the overly-cramped confines of the living space aboard the Kiyomi Maru. If there was room, Dr. Ishida would be pacing. If the hatch was open, he'd be smoking.

"Time Keeper's impressions from the valley are... interesting, to say the least." He says, mostly looking at Ian. "What are structures built by your people doing here?"

Another question weighs on all of your minds: How long can Time Keeper stay unnoticed?

Re: E2S8 - The Kiyomi Maru - Strategy Session - A, N, I, T, Ty
Ian turns awkwardly in the bulky suit towards Dr. Ishida, knocking over various things as he does so.
"My city vanished from the sea floor. Now it is here. As to why, though I am the Seas Greatest Detective, I have no theories or answers yet."

Ian then turns towards Todd, bumping into more items around him...
"I would highly prefer that no-one knock over my city."

Ishida-san says "Those structure could have immense scientific value..."

Everyone:
Any further elaboration of that thought is cut short by a jumble of impressions from Time Keeper, through his wavering link with Nereid. None of you can make much sense of the overlaid images and thoughts--it's like trying to listen to a hundred radio stations all at once. You do get an overall impression of impending doom, however.

Folks…this isn't good..I think we need to make our way to the city…eith TK is in trouble…or going to be in trouble..or there is just trouble coming...

She is obviously overwhelmed by the overload of the mental link...

Ian runs one last diagnostic on the Mobile Suit, and checks to see that the T.U.N.A. system is wired in correctly.

Dr. Ishida replies. "This is as close as I can get the Kiyomi Maru. The sensors Ian redesigned show that Time Keeper is about thirty miles inland, just past the first range of hills." He frowns. "We didn't exactly plan for hunting mecha-squid--or mecha-anything-else--on land..."

Angela is finding it hard to keep her eyes off Amm-Fibian wearing the Mk.VI armor.  Even though he bears absolutely no resemblance to Kenshiro, she finds the sight... disconcerting...

"I, for one, am not up for a thirty mile hike - the Angelfish just isn't designed for it, and I'm not going in there with out armor and weapons.  But heading for home obviously isn't an option either.  Not unless we're really ready for the end of life as we know it..."

She pauses, sipping hot coffee and considering...

"Ian, your people built this city, I can't imagine they would have built it with nothing but land access...  Is there a possibility there's an underwater tunnel, or a hidden channel or something?

"Actually Angela, we built this city on rocket rolls. Ha ha haaaa."
Ian sees nobody is laughing.
"Sorry, an attempt at human levity. Apparently I need to research more. However, to answer your question, this city was built in the middle of the sea originally. It was transported here somehow intact by Emperor Penguin's nefarious means."

Ishida-san also seems troubled by seeing the Mk. VI suit in use again. He looks away, gazing out the viewport instead. "That mecha-train is wrecked--but it's not junk... Ian and I might be able to cobble something together--it might even give you an advantage: whatever Emperor Penguin uses to detect intruders might not react to one of his own machines..." He says, thoughtfully.

Ian nods, "By the Great White Whale! We will use the mecha-train like a Trojan Wooden Equine, except long and metallic."

Ian collects tools and heads out with Ishida.

OOC: I'm going to assume this is Int...
 Amm-Fibian rolled 6,6 using d6,d6 ((6,6))
Int +9, Total 9 to repair the mecha-train.

In reply to Todd (msg # 13):

As Ishida and Ian leave the room, already discussing the mechanical problem facing them, Angela rises as well, threading her way through the cramped room to the coffee pot.  As she passes behind Todd, she takes the opportunity to slap him lightly on the back of his head.

"Be nice!" she hisses.

Fresh coffee in hand, she turns to the others, "We should see what kind of weapons we can scrounge together.  The Angelfish has it's missile pods, but I suspect Kai would feel a little beter if she had something to defend herself with."

Re: E2S8 - The Kiyomi Maru - Strategy Session - A, N, I, T, Ty
Ian:
You and Dr. Ishida get the mecha-train functioning again and under your control in about an hour. As you work, Dr. Ishida points out, "We don't dare re-engage it's computer system, it might take off on it's own--someone will have to drive it manually." Somehow, you don't think he's volunteering for the job.
[OOC: The team now has a Patched-up Mecha-train situational Aspect that you can invoke at will.]
During the repair process, you learn a few things: The mecha-train is constructed like the mecha-squid; mostly off-the-shelf parts put together in advanced ways. There are little hints of the level of engineering and scientific understanding of your people, but overall the thing isn't much beyond what humans could do.

Angelfish:
Going over the contents of the lockers in your head: There's a flare-pistol and flares, and a gas-operated spear gun and it's javelin-like ammo (which Nereid has already made good use of). The research ship's spare anchor and some chain might make a handy melee weapon for Todd, if he's interested...
[OOC: Beyond that, it's whatever Ishida-san and Ian can cobble together out of mecha-junk. :)]

Re: E2S8 - The Kiyomi Maru - Strategy Session - A, N, I, T, Ty
There's not much empty space inside the jury-rigged mecha-train. The easiest way to conceal yourselves aboard it is inside the cargo car where the fish were, or inside the three rather cramped drone launch bays. Either way, it'll be cold--but at least you'll be out of sight and out of the wind.

[OOC: If everyone has made their final preparations, take the Patched-up Mecha-train into E2S9 - Secret Penguin Colony. I'm sure Time Keeper will appreciate the company!]

Over Nereid's telepathic link, you hear Dr. Ishida's dry mental "voice". "Todd is correct. I was in Hawai'i during the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Very fortunately."

[OOC: Continued in the E2S9 - Secret Penguin Colony thread.]
