E2S9 - Secret Penguin Colony - TK
Time Keeper:
As you're peering over the ridge at the edge of the valley, you hear Ian's mental exclamation of "By the Great White Whale... that is my home!"

Penguins gather, squawking, in what appears to be a pool of liquid water surrounding the central whale-man statue. It's obvious to you that these buildings have suffered damage; the classical lines of the architecture are off true-level in several places, and some of the gently-fluted metal columns have toppled, or protrude only partially from the ice.

You catch a flash of motion near a shark-goyle on the cornice of a building that reminds you in some ways of the Parthenon. Something gray-white against the gray antarctic sky--another drone! One with camouflage...

Re: E2S9 - Secret Penguin Colony - TK
Time keeper dropped back behind the ridge and knowing the others were able to see what he saw through the telepathic link he slipped into the time stream found himself and followed the many possible futures radiating out from himself trying to find one with a good outcome.

Time Keeper:
The overlaying futures branch in many directions... In some your body lies alone, cooling on the ice until it's covered in a light frost. In others, there are explosions--you die in some of those as well, but at least you don't die alone.

Some of the timelines include a silvery disc flying through the air, raining laser fire. Others include roiling storm clouds and sheets of lightning. A few include both, but those don't seem to end well for anybody.

The threads that lead to your death pass beyond it to a future of rising oceans,  ferocious storms, and the end of human civilization!

[OOC: No pressure. :)]

Re: E2S9 - Secret Penguin Colony - TK
Timekeeper pulled his mind back to the present, cold sweat ran down his back as he tried to gather he thoughts and make sense of what he had seen.

He suddenly realised he’d not broken mental contact with the others when he’d slipped into the time stream and quickly made contact with the others.

~apologies for that I shouldn’t have taken you into the time stream so suddenly it can be confusing for me and could have been over whelming for those not ready for such an experience. The upshot of the situation is not good every time line ends in some type of disaster for some or all of us. That not withstanding we need to stop this if we can what I, and possibly some of you saw was a disaster on a global scale if we do nothing. Any suggestions appreciated.~

Time Keeper:
As you watch from behind the ridge, you see a trio of small spider-like robots removing fish from the hopper car of the mecha-train, slicing it into strips, and delivering the resulting sashimi to the water in the central pool. It's feeding time for the penguin colony...

Above, you spot a lone bird--large, hook-billed, with wings more like a hawk than a gull. The instant it crosses above the ridgeline, a camouflaged drone you hadn't previously spotted obliterates it with a laser beam!

You're getting the impression that whoever is in charge here likes their privacy.

Timekeeper hunkered down as small as he could make himself.

Time Keeper:
It's cold, and the pair--or trio?--of circling drones force you to keep well below the ridge line. The drones over the penguin colony are much harder to spot than the ones you encountered earlier. A little over two hours pass as you man your lonely observation post. Then, on the horizon to the east, you see a dark spot. As it approaches, you can make out the battered form of the mecha-train picking its way over the rugged snowpack.

Ian:
You're up front, in the "driver's seat" you and Ishida-san hollowed out of the lead element of the mecha-train. It's no more cramped than your mini-sub--but the field of view is much narrower. There's an obvious gap in the ridge ahead of you, and you can spot a dark speck near the crest of the ridge not far from the gap--Time Keeper, on lookout.

Everyone Else:
The monotonous rocking motion of the vehicle's walking pace is not improved by the fact that the mecha-train has no need of windows. The best you can do is peer out through the holes punched in the car's sides.

OOC: Does Ian think he could possibly jump the gap and land in the midst of the penguin colony??

Todd has a weakness, "Weakness: Must commune daily with μ-90 to maintain peak physical perfection". GM call if I've had time to commune with my far-distant descedent, or if I'm fading and about to get whacked with a tonne of compels.

I'm happy with either, probably leaning a bit towards the latter.

From his hiding place timekeeper watches as the train gets bigger. He was sure they had disabled it in the last encounter but here it was heading towards the base.

As he hadn't had any telepathic contact from the others for some time he started to get worried that they'd had trouble. Not knowing where or what his team were up to the master of time slipped into the time stream to work out what this new turn of events meant for him.
