Time Keeper:
Your easy evasion of the spray of bullets galvanizes the rest of the security team with fear. As you return to normal-speed time, you see the other four security guards slooooowly bringing the muzzles of their SMGs toward you!

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Coming back into reality facing the guards he sees the guns being pulled up towards him and quickly he pulls the time stream back round himself.

The result was to speed himself up to such an extent that everyone around him suddenly slowed. As he sped towards them he attempted to grab the guns out of thief hands as he passed by ready to drop them into the sea once they were in his possession.

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
[OOC: That's a Fast Attack Stunt of Super-Speed, which you did earlier when you first attacked TechKnight so you've got the Stunt for the whole battle. It lets you get two extra attacks, so your Prowess for grabs is 5/5/2. Applying your die roll to each gets you 7/7/4 against their Prowesses of 3.]
It's as if they're standing still, and the bullets hang in the air trailing shockwaves that are visible as light refracts through the changing density of the air. Stripping the guns from their hands is like child's play; the only difficulty is fighting the slow-time inertia that makes the air feel like jelly around you. You get three of them, tossing each in an arc over the ships rail, and are headed for the last security guard when you catch motion out of the corner of your eye.

What could be moving when even bullets are stopped?!? A brilliant streak of green light--TechKnight has fired one of his lasers, trying to disarm the security guard you're heading for! His precision targeting will hit the gun, alright--but the intensity of that beam will probably cause the ammo in the clip to explode!

You can outrun bullets--but can you outrun light?
[OOC: Even at your speed, you'll only get one chance at whatever you try, so Determined Effort can apply.]

[OOC: Technically, Angelfish should go next, but since this will all happen before she can react, Time Keeper is up again.]

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
OOC: 08:23, Today: Time Keeper rolled 1 using 2d6-7. super speed

Time Keeper turned just in time to see the armoured knight loose off a bolt of energy towards the last guard. The amount of ammo these guys were packing meant the resulting explosion would more than likely make his premonition come true.

Without thinking the master of time raised his hand and suddenly everything slowed to a crawl, every thing that is except Time Keeper himself. Though as he moved it felt like he was wading through jelly realising he'd pushed his power to the max and that back in real time he was moving at the speed of light if not a little faster.

Every second he moved brought him closer to the bolt. Soon he was level with it and then slightly ahead but was it enough? with one final thrust he launched himself through the thickening time stream. at the same time he swung his arm out catching the last guard at chest height and ever so slowly the guard toppled over out of harms way.

Just after that the world came back into real time focus and the bolt struck Time Keeper with an almighty burst of light and energy.

OOC: I will use me force field to take some of the damage if possible do I need to roll?

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
[OOC: As we discussed via PM, I'm going to Compel Time's Up, so you gain 1 Determination. You're using Determined Effort to get at least a Major Success to grab the guard and get him out of the way. With a total of 8, that only costs you 1 Determination. There's no roll necessary to use Force Field--and it absorbs all the damage from TechKnight's laser.]

You push into the time stream harder than ever before. Moving through the air is tougher than wading through jelly--it's like bending steel. The colors shift, everything shades toward red as light itself struggles to keep up with you... Everything but the green bolt!

Moving the security guard is like shifting a marble statue, but you make it just in time as the world disolves in a green flare! The warped time around you slows the deadly laser, sapping it's power--but the coherent light scintillates across your vision. You see the flow of time in a way you have never seen it before. You've always been able to see the threads of the future spreading out before you, but here at the speed of light, you see a shadow cast by something in your past. There's a knot in your timeline, a disruption. Back when you were just a boy, there's a broken spot in your timeline, imperfectly healed. All your futures come from that fixed point in time.

As soon as you sense it, the blast of the laser kicks you back into the normal flow of time!

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
(OOC: Sorry - I missed Time Keeper's entry, been waiting on him to move before I posted. Insert embarrassed face here)

Angelfish climbs to her feet, leaving the stunned security guard sprawled on the deck.
Looking around, she spots TechKnight as he jets upwards and fires!

quote:
"Want me? Come and catch me!"

Time Keeper seems to flicker in her vision, changing places without seeming to cross the space between, the only sign she can see that he is using his abilities.  A guard topples to the ground as Time Keeper reappears in "real" time - just in time to be struck by TechKnight's blast!

Catch you?  If you insist!

Angelfish takes several running steps toward TechKnight, leaping into the air toward him!  Nothing, nothing about her armored costume is designed for this sort of activity, but she is grimly determined that the smug bastard will not escape!  As she kicks off the deck, she triggers the suits impellers, knowing they're not designed to draw air, knowing that the whine and shriek coming from them carries a message of severe damage, but she just needs that little extra boost...

(OOC:  20:18, Today: Angelfish rolled 3,4 using d6,d6. Flying leap.
-1 +6 (coordination) (acrobatics) = 5)

Angelfish:
You can feel hot spots against the backs of your calves as the suit impellers start to overheat--but you're airborne, and close enough to grab TechKnight!

[OOC: Assuming that a grab is what you're after, you'll need to test Strength (limited by Prowess; so 4) against his Strength, which is 7 thanks to his armor.]

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Going from slow motion to real time was one hell of a ride and Time Keeper landed heavily on the deck sliding in a heap to crash up against one of the domes before coming to a holt.

He lay there for a moment to get his brain to fully slip out of the time stream and to allow himself to catch his breath. He hurt all over although his solid time force field took the full brunt of the blast and damage his body felt like he had gone five rounds with  Mike Tyson.

Slowly Time Keeper pulled himself up to his feet and assessed the situation, sirens could be heard on the dockside, the guards seemed to have all run or been taken care of and Angel was attempting to take the asshole that started the whole mess out in mid air.

With his mind now fully under control he once again stilled into the time stream to see if anything they had already done had lessened the chance of a devastating explosion or not.

(OOC: Yep, that's what I had in mind)

The suits impellers are screaming, but she's managed to get off the deck and closer to TechKnight, now all she has to do is grab him!

(OOC: 20:56, Today: Angelfish rolled 2,5 using d6,d6. Flying tackle!
-3 + 4 (Strength limited by Prowess) = +1)

The Mk. VII is simply not built for this kind of punishment - pushing the impellers so hard, not once but twice, the added weight of Ishida-san's extra armor... it's simply too much for Angelfish and her suit.  Her gloved hand slides across the slick, polished surface of TechKnight's armor, unable to get a solid purchase...

Angelfish, Time Keeper:
TechKnight soars away, leaving the two of you sprawled on the deck among the disarmed security guards. Various members of the Amphora Peapod's crew are poking their heads out of hatchways, seeing if the coast is clear.

Emergency vehicles are pulling up next to the pier, ready to cover everything in firefighting foam if necessary. There are still more sirens coming, so the police can't be far behind.

Time Keeper:
Your precognitive ability gives you only the sense, now that the shooting is over, the chance of explosion is lessened.

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Time Keeper looks up as the armoured figure disappears into the sky above. Not one to give up so easily and realising his next action would be painful in the extreme, Time Keeper reached out both hands towards the fleeing figure and at the same time his hands grasped the time stream for that exact moment.

Pulling hard he whipped the stream sending waves out from his location. These waved sailed out like the ripples on a pond and everything they touched took on a slightly warped fuzzy look to them.

Seconds later time had had enough of the interference and decided to right things. With a time blast everything contracted centred round Time Keeper himself at the last second the master of time spun still gripping the time stream and manipulated it back in time no more than a few seconds before the pain brought him back to the present and to his knees

OOC: 08:23, Today: Time Keeper rolled 3 using 2d6-7. precog (6). total 9 [spend last determination point to activate stunt]

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Time Keeper:
Your power creates a small "hiccup" in reality, and time resets! As it does so, you are briefly outside the flow of time; no past, no future, just the eternal now of your self--and from that vantage point, you can see that unlike everyone else, you truly have no past. Your personal timeline begins, not on the day of your birth, but on the day your grandfather died!

Then the timewave snaps back upon you, leaving a searing pain behind your eyes!

You're sprawled on the deck, you've just saved the last security guard from TechKnight's laser blast; TechKnight is about to fly away, Angelfish is about to make an impeller-boosted leap to try and catch him...

You're too wiped out by the effort to retcon time itself to do anything, but you can at least say something to change what's about to re-happen.

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Suddenly TimeKeeper couldn't breath as he crashed back into the real world then realised he'd been holding his breath. he let the air out of his lungs and took two great gasps before the pain creased him double and he held his head in both hands.

The pain was nothing he'd ever felt before, was it the time pull he'd just done or was it the mysterious vision of his own time line. He opened his eyes to find something to focus on and anchor himself in the present.

Thats when he remembered where he was and what he was doing. Knowing that Angel had failed her attempt to tackle the armoured flyer he felt it would fail again but they had another chance to take him down before he managed to get out of range.

Gaining his feet timekeeper points a shaky hand upwards and shouts " angel dont try to grab him trust me.....it...it wont work...." He takes a deep breath as the pain hits him again in wave nearly bringing hum to his knees, again

" ..... Shoot the cables.... Holding the cargo nets above him....." With that he dropped back to the deck with only enough energy to brearh hoping his idea to cut the cables and drop the overhead nets got through to her

She takes a single step...

quote:
angel dont try to grab him trust me.....it...it wont work....

...and pauses as Time Keeper calls out to her.

quote:
..... Shoot the cables.... Holding the cargo nets above him.....

She had been avoiding firing her weapons, fearful of igniting the gas around them...  But if the man who can see the future says it will work...

Angelfish moves her focus from TechKnight to the cables high above, calculating her shot carefully...

Angelfish:
Your missile shreds the cables supporting the cargo net--and fortunately, detonates high enough that it's above the cloud of flammable gas! The ultra-tough net of nylon fibers drapes over TechKnight, weighing him down and knocking him briefly off balance!

[OOC: That's a Maneuver to place an Aspect on TechKnight. His Coordination is 5, so you got a Moderate Success, meaning he now has a "Snared in Cargo Netting" Aspect with one free tag.]

Time Keeper, Angelfish:
Various members of the Amphora Peapod's crew are poking their heads out of hatchways, seeing if the coast is clear. They duck back immediately, seeing that it is obviously not!

Emergency vehicles are pulling up next to the pier, ready to cover everything in firefighting foam if necessary. There are still more sirens coming, so the police can't be far behind. Considering the damage to the cargo crane, now TechKnight and Angelfish are responsible for some vandalism...

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Angelfish grins as the cargo net tumbles down around TechKnight, causing him to stumble uncertainly for a moment...

...But only for a moment!  The nylon netting is strong, but not strong enough to hold him completely!

Angelfish starts toward him, then stops as his movements seem to slow...  A glance at Time Keeper reveals that he is gesturing at TechKnight, obviously using his powers to slow time in the immediate area.

He doesn't look good.  Gotta make this quick, get both of us out of here before the cops get here...

Angelfish jogs over to TechKnight, moving cautiously around him to avoid being caught in the slow-time area of effect.  Working quickly, she grabs cables had netting, pulling it taut around the armored figure... it's not exactly like tying up fish on one of Daddy's boats - but it ain't that far different!

(OOC: Angela grew up on and around fishing boats, she has quite a bit of experience with ropes and nets.  What, if anything, should I be rolling for this?)

Time Keeper:
[OOC: Force Field is normally a defensive ability for you, using it to create a Binding effect is a Stunt, so it costs you 1 Determination to do it. It's your Coordination vs his, so your total is actually 6, with all bonuses, giving you a Moderate Success. TechKnight is now at -2 to any attempt to take action as long as you hold the slow-time field around him.]

[OOC: If you're low on Determination, I'll be happy to offer a Compel on "Time's Up!"; as in, you're time's up, and you're about to faint from over-exertion of your powers...]

Angelfish:

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
...... It was black then slowly a grey light filtered through timekeepers mental vision. He looked round and he noticed dark grey forms round him as the mist cleared for a moment he saw what they. Grave stones, many grave stones but he didn't recognise the grave yard.

There was a rumble of thunder followed by a flash of light and then the rain. It came down in sheets and within moments timekeeper was drenched through.

Just then another flash lit up the sky and there standing under a tree he spotted a figure. It looked to be bent over a grave stone then its head suddenly lifted up and the next flash lit up its face. There standing some distance away was his grandfather. Time keeper moved forward but the figure in front of him lifted an umberella and turning walked away into the mist and rain.

Time keeper moved as fast as he could but it was like moving through treacle and became harder and harder as he got closer and closer to the grave stone.

By the time he got there he was leaning forward nearly at a fourth five degree angle, the force pulling him back was so strong his feet started to slide back leaving ruts in the earth.with one last effort he lifted his head to look at the stone.... Just then time won out and time keeper was violently expelled back not darkness but as his sight faded once again he shuddered with the shock of what he thought he saw....no it couldn't have been.... It was impossible.... Wasn't it......then darkness took him once again

TechKnight struggles - slowly - reminding Angelfish strongly of the marlins the tourists caught sometimes on her family's boats.  None-the-less, the time field generated by Time Keeper and the weight of the nets held him long enough for her to truss him up for the authorities to deal with.

Good!  I gotta get T.K. outta here...  The thought trails off as she catches sight of Time Keeper, slumped on the deck, unmoving!

Not good!  Not good at all!

Angelfish has no intention of being here when the police board the ship - since donning the Angelfish armor, she's had a few run-ins with the law, and they never seem to see things her way!  She's reluctant to leave Time Keeper to the authorities, they'll assume he's TechKnight's accomplice - and she very much doubts the TechKnight would go out of his way to change that opinion!

There really does seem to be only one answer...

Jogging across the deck, Angelfish hoists Time Keeper's still form up on her shoulder and heads for the rail...
