E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish
Back in Hawai'i, and back to work! Ishida-san and Ian spent a little time developing a design for a new "landsuit", but very shortly it was back to work on the Angelfish armor.

"If you insist on going into danger, at least you can do it well-protected." Dr. Ishida isn't taking "no" for an answer. Thicker kevlar-neoprene panels means less flexibility, which doesn't make wearing the thing any easier. He's also talking about increasing the warhead-size of the missiles in the hip-pods. More weight, even more bulk... You wonder if he isn't losing sight of the original reason for building the Angelfish in the first place...

This afternoon finds you swimming near the surface of Nimitz Bay, struggling with the latest iteration of Dr. Ishida's "improved" torso protection. Too heavy, too inflexible, too slow! It's obviously not an "improvement".

You're considering calling it a day and returning to Blue Sea R&D with the data Kenji won't want to listen to, when suddenly, there's a powerful shockwave through the water! The epicenter was toward the container ship docks, where the most massive ships in the bay are anchored.

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish
This is just not going to work!  There has to be something in the data to convince Ishida-san to back off on the heavier armor!

Sick and tired of fighting against the so-call improvments to her suit, Angela is heading for the dock when the shockwave hits.

Crap!  That's the cargo dock!  Plenty of stuff over there to go "BOOM" - and that's assuming there's no foul play involved!

She treads water for a moment, typing on the keypad attached to the sleeve of her suit;

(GONNA CHEK THAT OUT  WIL STA N TOUCH   LUV U)

Message sent, she slips beneath the surface, firing the impellers, before Ishida-san can voice the protest she knows is coming...

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish
Angelfish:
Heading at full speed toward the container port, ahead of you and looking up toward the surface you can see a row of huge ship hulls drawn up stem-to-stern along the side of the deepwater channel in Nimitz Bay. You know from experience that they're adjacent to huge shore-based cargo cranes or pipeline connections used to load and unload cargo.

Nothing looks immediately out of place--until you spot a bright flash of light reflecting off the surface of the water, next to a large orange-painted hull. It's not the longest ship in the row, but it's one of the heaviest-built.

Ohkaaay.  Not an explosion.  That's good.  Now, what the heck was it?!

Angelfish moves cautiously closer to the orange ship and the flashing light, scanning carefully for any suggestion of what caused the shockwave and what is creating the light.

Angelfish:
Not an explosion--but something definitely impacted either the water or the hull of that ship. There's another bright flash and a corresponding hull-ringing shockwave. The ship is under attack from something on the surface!

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Time Keeper:
Your target is flying fast, and he gained a big lead as you locked the shop door--but you gain it back once you're moving. You breeze past the security gates of the port, just as the flying figure flips into hover-mode above a long narow orange-painted ship.

The orange ship has a line of four huge hemispherical structures covering the majority of it's deck-- based on the network of pipes around them, they must be the upper halves of spherical tanks holding high-pressure gas. Across the flat stern, just behind the tiny bridge tower, is lettered Amphora Peapod. The name matches the shape, and if they'd painted the ship green the resemblance would be perfect--the orange color must indicate something...

You lose sight of the flyer behind a dockyard crane for an instant, as you're forced to ziz-zag around several vans with US Government plates and HMSA (Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) logos. You get a visual on him again, just as he opens fire with some sort of forearm-mounted energy beam, blasting away at the complex piping surrounding the pressure tanks!

Time keeper saw the attack and speeded up as he shot forward towards the crane. Using the time stream the master of time slipped up the side of the metal structure and among the arm befor shooting off into thin air towards the armoured flying figure fists ready to lay multiple attacks on his helmeted head.

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
[OOC: You spend 2 Determination on Determined Effort.]
You race up the crane at top speed, and out along the horizontal beam, launching yourself into the air at your target! The armored figure, his faceplate a nonreflective black oval, spots you at the last instant and raises a forearm to ward off your jackhammer blows. He cuts his jets at the same time, trying to duck underneath your trajectory. [But you connect enough to deliver 3 Stamina damage, even through his armor!]

That throws off the aim of his forearm-mounted lasers--the beam carves through a set of pipes near the third hemisphere and scores the Amphora Peapod's hull! At close range, you can see the articulated black plates of his armor are edged with silver traces of circuitry. The shape of the plates across his chest and abdomen form a stylized "T".

[OOC: You're airborne at this point. Do you have a plan for landing? :)]

"Are you crazy? Can you even fly?!?" His shout is over-amplified and metallic--but you can hear alarm in his voice.

Meanwhile, dockside:
High-pressure jets of gas are escaping from the cut lines! Alarms are going off, HMSA officials and emergency response teams are scrambling... On the deck of the Amphora Peapod, a half-dozen security personnel unsling SMGs and begin firing at the black-and-silver figure!

Time keeper rebounded of the armoured figure and started to drop just as he heard the voice shout at him

"No but I can fall with style" he shouted back as he rapped the time stream round him to form a protective barrier to deaden the impact

More bright flashes and shockwaves - Gotta put a stop to this... whatever this is!

Angelfish puts on a burst of speed that takes her around the bright orange hull, yet another flash drawing her gaze up - Time Keeper!  And who the heck is...

The thought trails away as Time Keeper launches himself toward the armored stranger!

quote:
"Are you crazy? Can you even fly?!?"

Oh crap, oh crap, ohhh...

quote:
"No but I can fall with style"

And drown dammit!

She knifes through the water, trying to position herself to catch him...

Angelfish:
Your impellers go to full power, and you porpoise out of the water trailing spray! Time Keeper's not going to drown--because he's going to hit one of those big orange domes on the freighter's deck instead; unless you get there first! You tuck, roll, and come out on a new trajectory, impellers howling as their intakes suck in only air instead of water. Still, they're producing some thrust...

Time Keeper:
Out of nowhere, Angelfish rockets up out of the ocean, snagging you in mid-fall! You note with amusement that when she grabs you, she isn't actually touching you; she's wrapped her arms around the temporal discontinuity zone you created. Through her fluid-filled helmet, you see her eyes go wide at the realization that you might not have been in quite the mortal danger she thought.

Angelfish, Time Keeper:
Your arcing acrobatic leap lands you on the rear deck of the Amphora Peapod, aft of all four of the pressure tanks. Tiny pieces of red-hot lead are pinging off the nearest tank--after bouncing off the black-and-silver armored figure!

"Sure you want to be shooting guns around that cloud of gas?" He says, mocking the security team, and drawing attention to the expanding cloud of white vapor spewing out of the damage he caused.

Angelfish releases her hold on Time Keeper, and lets out a mental sigh of relief, it could have gone oh so wrong.  Turning, she studies the armored stranger hovering above them.

quote:
Sure you want to be shooting guns around that cloud of gas?

{U WERE SHOOTING 2} She gives him a pointed look, although she suspects that the distortion caused by her helmet and the fluid within rather negate the effect.  {WHO R U  WHAT DO U WANT WITH THIS SHIP}

Time Keeper spun away from Angelfish as they hit the deck and came up in a defensive stance "Thanks Angel appreiciate the hand" he said with a genuine smile on his face.

As he looked up at the armoured man his mind once again slipped into the time stream to see what he could find out about the situation.

Angelfish:
"I was aiming carefully--until the one-man suicide squad there interfered!" The armored figure cuts his jets, dropping to the deck between you and the aft-most pressure tank. He looks back over his shoulder at you. "Nice gear you've got there--but you're a little out of your depth here." You can hear the smirk in his voice, despite the distortion. "I'll keep the security bozos occupied while you and the crazy man get clear. TechKnight to the rescue." There's that smirking tone again.

Time Keeper:
There are two possible futures--one in which the Amphora Peapod is covered in government people wearing hazmat suits and carrying detection equipment, and one in which the Amphora Peapod explodes, destroying four square blocks of the docklands and killing hundreds of people. The tipping point was when the ship's crew opened fire on TechKnight; after that, the immediate future became a coin standing on edge; only two ways it can fall.

Time keeper stepped forward as he pulls his mind out of the time stream " I have no idea who you are but your actions have resulted in two outcomes. One the ship does not blow up the other this ship and four square blocks in all directions will be vaporised."

The time lord grabbed the mans armoured arm " I am the master of time and I will not allow the later to happen back off, sto your attack or you will be responsible for the death of hundreds if not thousands of innocent people......if you are one of the good guys do the right thing"

Time Keeper:
"I am doing the right thing--exposing these bastards! But if anybody is likely to cause an explosion, it's those guys." TechKnight gestures toward the security squad in the bow, giving you a good look at the high-powered laser built into the forearm of his armor. "My gear is built for precision and power. They're shooting at anything that moves."

Re: E3S5 - Nimitz Bay - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Angelfish circles slowly, trying to get between the armored man who called himself TechKnight and his target - or failing that between him and the ships security forces - anything to keep the shooting to a minimum!

{THEY C U AS THREAT   LET US HELP  TELL US WHAT U R X POSING}

Thought to text interface, really gotta work on that idea!  Angelfish is frustrated by the slow method of getting her thoughts across to the stranger, but if they can get him talking, keep him talking, Time Keeper would hopefully follow her line of thought and be more eloquent.

Angelfish, Time Keeper:
"Damn right I'm a threat! Once the detectors over in those HMSA vans start going off, the truth will come out! No more cover-up!"

You can hear the clatter of running feet, heading your way down the port side of the vessel. The security squad is maneuvering to avoid the spewing cloud of gas on the starboard side--which, true to TechKnight's word is drifting over toward the docking cranes and dock.

"I'll draw their fire; you two get out of here!" TechKnight yanks his arm free of Timekeeper's grasp and sprints toward the port rail, just outside the nest of pipes that surround the aft pressure tank!

"Damn it" Time Keeper swears. " Angel we need to keep those men from firing their guns. That @%&% might be accurate with his weapons but they aren't and I think that's how this whole thing goes up" With that the master of time rapped the time stream round his body to protect him against the bullets and rides the waves of the future possibilities towards the men carrying guns.

As he picks up speed he gets ready to punch as many of them over board as possible.

Time Keeper:
Zig-zagging around TechKnight and the high-pressure pipework, you meet the security team coming your way! They're working in three pairs, one member of each pair covering the other as they advance leapfrog-style toward the ship's aft.

You send one sprawling, but as he slides toward the scuppers, he reflexively pulls the trigger on his SMG! The good news is, he's pointing it away from the cloud of gas--the bad news is, he's pointing it at you!

Crap, crap, crap!  Everybody has just gone nuts!!!

Angelfish is torn between targets - one the one hand, she's certain that they need to detain the guy calling himself TechKnight, on the other, Time Keeper seems certain that taking out the security force is imperative - and it's hard to argue with a guy who can see the future!

Stealth would be wonderful - but not in this getup!  Maybe I should have gone out for the high school bowling team instead of the gymnastics squad!

With a self-deprecating grin, Angelfish takes a few steps toward the approaching security team before tucking into a forward somersault - an armored bowling ball aimed at the security "pins"!

You take the legs out from under one of the security guards, dropping him to the deck! He struggles to rise, but seems dazed by the impact.

TechKnight gapes at Angelfish's action, thinking; That girl has played way too much Metroid... Then he activates his jets and bounds upward, leveling both forearm-lasers at the security team. "Want me? Come and catch me!"

[OOC: Since Jill has, as far as I know, never played Metroid, she won't realize why I think that is so funny. :)]

Time keeper slides to a stop on the deck turning just in time to see a hail of bullets heading towards him. dropping into a crouch he extended one hand towards the projectiles.

His mind feels the flow of the time stream and grasping it with his mind he raps it round reality. The bullets start to slow to a near stop. With a spring he lept into the air, spinning and turning he moved gracefully ubove, around and behind them until he landed on the deck behind the bullets.

Then he let the time stream snap back into reality and the bullets spread up through the space time keeper moments before been crouched in and on over the side of the boat.
