E3S6 - Mr. Chen's Pai-Gow Palace - Todd, Nereid
Todd, Nereid:
The red neon sign over the doors reads "Mr. Chen's Pai-Gow Palace" in English and Cantonese. Two Asian men in dark suits and sunglasses flank the glass doors on the inside, standing next to a pair of gold-lacquered Foo Dog statues. Neither the men nor the statues seem lifelike in the garish light.

Beyond the carpeted foyer are three steps leading down into the opean area of the betting parlor / casino. The gold-leafed ceiling arches over three circular arrays of tables, each one three-deep in shouting, anxious gamblers. You'd think the lush carpet would muffle the noise, but it really doesn't.

Short rows of slot machines decorate the main room's walls; cocktail waitresses come and go from swinging doors to the left, and muscular Asian gentlemen come and go from swinging doors on the right. Across the room, at the back, is an ornate red-lacquered door behind a gold velvet rope.

Todd:
You're reasonably certain that you're the only Caucasian in the room. You're also a little under-dressed for this crowd, which is causing you to think that hard eyes behind sunglass lenses are staring at you...

Kai smiles sheepishly and then whispers to Todd...

so…why are we here? I feel underdressed with too strong a sense of law and order.

"I could say because my intuition tells me there is a deep mystery here, and that I think we're on the edge of uncovering a criminal enterprise with powerful mystical and superpowered implications that could threaten the very existence of Akamai City.

In reply to Todd (msg # 5):

OOC: though that makes sense to me to sorta scan surface thought of a group this seems like a stunt.  If I switchboard the team it is limited to my Willpower 5. When I pry on people they resist with Will.

So I am asking  Dainty how to play this.

I figure Todd can give me that name or an idea to a picture of what he is looking for and I can move around  and scan until I find it.
Or if not we can pick what looks like the most likely suspect  and I will do it "as written"

Apart from Zhang Jue the only people I've seen that I can associate with the club are the thugs I tussled with. Mr Chen would be a good target, but I have no idea what he looks like (although he might be easy to spot).

Nereid:
[OOC: That's stunting the Burst Extra with your Telepathy: Tag a Quality and spend 1 Determination, then roll Telepathy. The Difficulties will vary according to the individual Willpower stats of the people in the room.

The rules in Team-Up allow you to to tag Challenges as well as Qualities, treating them all as Aspects Fate-style. Given the night you're having, tagging Weirdness Magnet would not be inappropriate. :)]

Todd:
Nereid mentally encountered Zhang Jue during your earlier fight, so she can look for information about her already--but you can present her with mental images of the thugs you met out front a couple hours ago. That's actually pretty easy, since two of them are in the room right now, eyeballing you.

Todd scrunches up his face and thinks hard. It's kind of wired to onlookers, but helps him evoke the images.

OOC: Okay I have 2 Determination left, I forgot to spend one to heal my psychic injuries during he last encounter...so I want to hold one back to heal but I don't want to drag down the momentum of the game (which means I'll do it later) .

So 1 Determination spent to Burst telepath. (1 left) tagging weirdness magnet.

Willpower 5
14:18, Today: Nereid rolled 6,3 using d6,d6. Telepathy.

8 total.

Here goes nothing...  Nereid smiles as her mind reaches out across the room.

Nereid:
You cast outward with your telepathy, and the amulet at your throat glows faintly with an inner light. Flitting lightly across the surface thoughts of the people in the Pai-Gow lounge...

::My feet are killing me; and it's still ten minutes 'till my next break...::Monkey! Monkey!::$200 a gram, who is he kidding?!?::Ace-Queen beats her for sure, this time...::Those #%&*@ Fei Ziang bastards.::That guy with the mustache is hot, I wonder if he's single...::Gee Joon!:He'll never climb out of the hole he's digging. Loser!::

It's a kind of gibberish, even the parts that aren't untranslatable Chinese. You focus on images and memories, and things become more manageable.

::image of Zhang Jue, playing Pai-Gow with other high-rollers at a roped off private table::tea in tiny cups and a pile of casino chips being served to Zhang Jue::someone's fleeting memory of a slender, narrow-eyed Asian man speaking privately with one of the club's thuggish security men::Zhang Jue again, distressed, throwing her last chips onto the green felt::Images from several points-of-view as thugs converge on Zhang Jue's table.::

Whoa Zhang Jue was here …at a private table, it didn't go well and I think she was thrown out or something...that was surreal.
