Re: E3S7 - Blue Sea R&D Lab - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Angelfish, Time Keeper:
Dr. Ishida brings Time Keeper a glass of water. "This man is delirious; he thinks he's aboard a submarine. His overexertion presents as dehydration. Interesting--and not unreasonable, if his abilities manipulate his personal passage through time, he must shed moisture and heat at rates far exceeding those of a top-performance athlete..." As a biologist (among other things), Ishida-san is a competent diagnostician--with zero bedside manner.

He continues speaking to Angelfish as if she's the only other coherent person in the room. "Angela, he'll need electrolytes as well. There's coconut water in the lab cooler. Also miso soup. But he is right; a submarine would be incredibly useful..."

He stands, and flips one of the large wall-monitors over to DTN news. Karen Kwan is reporting live from the Nimitz Bay commercial docks, pressed as close as she can get to the HMSA cordon. "...ships' captain has characterized as an eco-terrorist attack. Two armored vigilantes fired heavy weapons at a ship carrying liquified propane gas and a cargo crane. A third person, moving too fast to identify, may have attempted to stop the attack. That individual appears to have been taken captive by one of the armored attackers. Akamai City Police can't approach the ship yet, due to the toxic leak."

Ben took the glass but sipped it slowly when he'd finished half of it he put it down and pulled himself up onto a seat "you say the police haven't got on board yet. I just hope we didn't go through al that just for tech knight to get loose ...."

He turned to angel" thanks for getting me out of there and sorry the reports suggest you were one of the attackers."

Re: E3S7 - Blue Sea R&D Lab - Angelfish, Time Keeper
"A submarine?!  Why on Earth would we need a submarine?!"

Angela continues to talk as she walks out of Ben's line of sight, "It's O.K.  Not like it's the first time I've had issues with the cops. The guns on the Mk. VII pack a punch and that just seems to be a problem for the authorities!"  She chuckles a little. "It is the first time I been called an eco-terrorist.  Or a kidnapper.  Besides, what was I going to do?  Leave you there?"

She returns to hand Ben a towel and a can of coconut water.  Another towel is already draped over her head.

"I trussed TechKnight up pretty good, but who knows what kind of gadgets that suit has... Not to mention simple brute strength."

"What I really want to know is what's in those tanks.  I just don't see liquid propane causing that kind of passionate response!"

She towels her hair dry as she heads for the labs computers.  "Let's see what we can find out about the Amphora Peapod and her parent company..."

Angelfish:
The computer search comes up with a few links; the Amphora Corporation website, some hits on news articles about the company, and one reference to problems plaguing one of the company's work sites.

"The Amphora Corporation, mining and farming the sea floor for the benefit of all mankind!" Amphora's main offices are in Honolulu; they're a conglomerate with several divisions; oil and natural gas drilling, fish-farming, and underwater mineral extraction among others. If there's money to be made underwater, they're trying to make it.

"Angel you're the water specialist this drilling for gas in the sea is this an environmental hazard waiting to happen? Also is the gas in the ship that was attacked carrying gas extracted from those wells? I think we need to look into this "

Re: E3S7 - Blue Sea R&D Lab - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Dr. Ishida snorts. "Offshore drilling isn't the problem, but drilling this way... In California, they've just discovered that oil companies have been fracking to re-start dried-up wells since the '90s. Now, the state wants to require separate licenses to do that. The Hawai'i state legislature tried to make it illegal here, but the law didn't pass."

"Back home, since the problems with the nuclear reactors, they've started pumping hydrochloric acid into the seafloor to do the same trick; force natural gas up. Maybe it's safe. Maybe it's safer than a reactor, anyway..." He lights another in his endless chain of European cigarettes, and shrugs. "Everybody poisons themselves in their own way, I suppose."

On the TV, Karen Kwan is interviewing someone in a hard-hat with a respirator dangling from his neck. "...HMSA detected toxic levels of benzene in the natural gas leaking from the Amphora Peapod. Benzene in the air above 1 part per million is recognized as unsafe; the leak was over twice that, and ten times higher than the amount of benzene you'd expect in natural gas."

"The level of benzene they're reporting?  The gas is a toxic waste!  Whatever Amphora's doing, it's producing way more toxins than normal."

Angela turns to face Ben.

"TechKnight may not be going about it in the right way, but these guys are certainly up to no good.  Even if it's not technically illegal, it's certainly a danger to anyone working around the tanks... and could easily become a public health hazard."

"I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't have hauled his butt out of there along with yours!"

She turns back to the computer and begins typing again...

(OOC: Angela is attempting to find any information on possible previous sightings of anyone matching TechKnight's description.

Angelfish:
Your news search turns up several blurry images of the black-and-silver TechKnight; flying over Akamai City, engaging in a pitched aerial battle with military drones over the old chemical weapons disposal site on Johnston Atoll, and pitching in with local heroes Storm Warden and Beeline in a fight against the volcano-elemental Honua a couple of years ago.

There are news clips implying that TechKnight was responsible for disabling a classified satellite launch, and linking him to a data-center meltdown at Attis Agricultural Biotech. There's an audio clip of Mayor Michael Arakawa angrily denouncing TechKnight as a "lawless vigilante".

"You feeling better, Ben?  I'm thinking we might want to take another look around the cargo docks, maybe have another little talk with our new friend TechKnight."

Ben slowly let his mind drift back into the time stream, when there was no sudden pain or strange images he slipped back out and smiled at angel"looks like my powers have righted themselves ..... Yes I think I'm ready to go have that little chat you mentioned"

With that he pulled up his mask nodded to the doctor his thanks and turned to angel to lead the way

Re: E3S7 - Blue Sea R&D Lab - Angelfish, Time Keeper
(OOC: I am, in fact, thinking of the cargo docks.  Angelfish isn't exactly planning to use any of the usual approaches to the ship.  She's also hoping that since the police haven't been allowed on board, TechKnight might still be in the area trying to get his "message" out. In a perfect world, she'd like to think that she trussed him out sufficiently that he's right where she left him, and therefor they could just "haul his butt out of there" for a little chat! Angelfish does not have that kind of luck...)

Angelfish:
The police haven't been allowed on board, the crew has been evacuated, and TechKnight may have been tied up and dazed--but he's had at least half an hour and has lasers on both forearms... If he's still aboard the Amphora Peapod, it'll be because he wants to be there.

You get a vision of the future--just a single errant strand of probability. TechKnight standing on something high in the air, near water. You know he's arrogant--he might escape from the ship, but he'd surely want to watch the drama he created unfold...

Angelfish:
While Time Keeper is doing whatever it is that he does that makes his eyes go glassy like that, you've been engrossed in the news reports. It's a bit of a surprise when Ishida-san hands you the lab phone.

"Uh... Angelfish? This is Senior Detective Jones witht he MIB. We met a few weeks ago..." You can hear the uncomfortable intonation in the detective's voice as he uses your nom-de-guerre. "Our mutual friend Ian wants me to pass along to you some important information. Skate appears to have been involved in some sort of attack on an offshore drilling platform. Details are sketchy at this point, but Ian wanted to warn you that Skate was in the area and active."

Re: E3S7 - Blue Sea R&D Lab - Angelfish, Time Keeper
Time Keeper pulls up his mask, and turns away, eyes distant and glassy... Disappearing into the timestream for information, no doubt...

The brief delay gives Angela a few moments to catch up with Karen Kwan on the big monitor and to glance over the reports on the smaller monitor in from of her, searching for some insight...

"Angela?  The phone is for you..."  Ishida's voice startles her.

"Yes? Hello?"

quote:

"Oh, crap!  Just what we...  Wait!  Offshore drilling platform?" Angela gestures for Ishida (standing aside, politely pretending not to be listening), and Time Keeper (even thought she's not certain if he is back in the world or not) to pay attention.

"Detective, that drilling platform?  That wouldn't belong to the Amphora Corporation, would it?"

She listens for a moment.  "Uh huh.  Detective, please give Ian a message for me - tell him I think we need to exchange information.  He knows the place.  And Detective?  Call me Angela."

Angela levels her gaze at the two men in the lab... "So, that was Ian's friend  Senior Detective Jones.  Seems that Ian thought we should be made aware of an attack on an Amphora Corporation drilling platform.  Seems like there's more going on here than we suspected..."

She forestalls the obvious question, "I don't think the two attacks are directly linked - I mean we know that TechKnight has occasionally worked with other... "heroes" when need be, but I doubt he would be..." She pauses and deliberately looks away for Ishida, "... the attack on the platform was carried out by Skate and he's not likely to be working with anyone..."

Time Keeper shakes his head and comes back to the present " Couldn't get a precise fix on him but he is definitely in the dock area and up high. Possibly over looking the ship he attacked to see what his handy work has done...... arrogant little bastard isn't he."

He moved over to the computer "Angela is it possible to call up a map of the docks with all  the tall buildings on it? I might be able to narrow it down from the images I saw to where he might be."

Time Keeper:
The map display on Angela's monitor rotates out to a three-quarter perspective view. Just inland of the stacked cargo containers are a row of buildings housing shipping company operations offices. You recognize one of the angles. TechKnight is on the roof of the Horizon Transit building.
