(22:44, Today: Ty'daal rolled 2,5 using d6,d6 with rolls of 2,5. Ty'daal weight on his shoulders. Erm, that will be -3 result, so a 5 total.)

Angelfish:
[OOC: That sounds like Focused Effort (using Intellect to assist in a Strength feat), so it costs you 1 Determination (and you'll have to pick a Quality to tag). Your roll gives you a Moderate success.]

The strain of holding up the massive dead weight of the fishing trawler is taking it's toll on Ty'daal. More and more water races in through the rip in the hull, displacing the air that gives the ship it's buoyancy. The heavy stern begins to sag, and even Ty'daal's powerful alien muscles begin to tremble with effort! The last lifeboat swings freely in it's davits as the ship lurches...

Ty'daal:
Suddenly, you feel a soft impact vibrating through the hull, from somewhere forward of your position, and you hear the sharp sound in the water of high-tech impellers firing in bursts. Compared to the mass of the ship, it isn't much...but it's enough!

The last lifeboat launches, the trawler's captain aboard it.

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
With the captain safely away, Ty'daal releases the trawler after first making sure the armor-clad human is clear. He watches as the trawler sags in the water, then tips to the side and slips beneath the water and disappears into the dark depths of the ocean.

Turning to look over at Angelfish Ty'daal calls out, "You are...efficient, human."

Ty'daal swims closer pulling up to float in front of the armored human, his arms crossed and answers, "I am Ty'daal, last warrior of the Turquoise Dominion. And who would you be?"

The Turquoise Dominion? Where the heck is that?  Wherever it is, they speak English...

She types again {YOU CAN CALL ME ANGELFISH  I AM A SCIENTIST  HERD THE DISTRESS CALL  CAME 2 INVESTIGATE}

I have got to talk to Ishida-san about developing a neural connection for the speech module!   On the bright side, I think this constitutes a successful test of the TXT-to-speech system!

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Ty'daal stops with his back still towards Angelfish, he looks down, sighs and swims back. "And why should I do that? It was a trivial foe, no more dangerous than a b'eek s'qwed on my homeworld." The arrogant warrior pauses, then continues after a moment of thought, "But I suppose it would be dangerous for someone like you.""

With that said, Ty'daal looks down, judging whether he can catch up to and take hold of the sinking construct.

(Dain, would it be possible for me to (with Aquatic 4) dart down and catch the mecha squid and bring it back to the surface for study before it sinks completely?)

Angelfish rolls her eyes Proof that testosterone overload exists on all planets...

She begins to type again, more carefully this time

{DANGEROUS TO ALL MY PEOPLE  DANGEROUS TO THE OCEAN LAST WARRIOR}

{THIS HUMAN IS NO WARRIOR  BUT I MUST DO WHAT I CAN TO PROTECT MY HOME}

Angelfish will begin her dive to the Mecha-squid without waiting for Ty'daal's answer.  She has no intention (or ability) to bring it to the surface, but she does want to get a good look at it.

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
[OOC: Aquatic 4 (which you both have) is easily enough to catch up with the remains of the Mecha-Squid before it sinks to the ocean floor. Ty'daal has enough strength that (with some effort) he could drag it back to the surface!]

Angelfish:
The conical metal body of the Mecha-Squid spins slowly as it sinks, it's remaining tentacles slack and it's tail-fins flopping loosely on their pivots. It's serrated metal beak is wide open--easily big enough to swim into. The lights on your helmet barely pierce the blackness within, but you can see the gleam of lenses and sensor arrays inside the thing's 'mouth'.

Some distance away:
Aboard the Blue Sea Research & Development vessel Kiyomi Maru, Dr. Ishida monitors the emergency radio frequencies. The Coast Guard is responding to the trawler's distress call. I hope Angela is all right. She's been out of contact for too long...  Nervously, he stabs out another cigarette in the overflowing ashtray.

Ty'daal:
With a sudden, porpoise-like burst of speed, you catch up to the falling machine, and grab hold of it. Muscles rippling with effort you begin a steady kick rhythm, slowly dragging the inert mass of metal toward the surface!

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Angelfish continues to be astonished by the strangers sheer power.  By lifting the Mecha-Squid to the surface, he has given her a much better chance to determine what, if anything, can be learned from it.  Cautiously, she swims around the outside, examining it as closely as she dare, then into the gaping beak to take a closer look at the sensor array she glimpsed earlier...

Angelfish:
[OOC: 5+2 vs a Difficulty of 1. That's a Massive Success!]

The sensor array is a cluster of domed camera lenses and what look like infrared motion detectors. Thanks to the damage Ty'daal did on his way out of the Mecha-Squid, the whole thing is hanging loose, dangling from the access hatch to the machines computer 'brain'. The thing looks like it's built from off-the-shelf components, for the most part, but as you look closer, there's a logo etched onto some of the custom circuit boards.

It's rectangular, blue on top and white on the bottom. The dividing line between the colors is crooked and irregular. In white lettering on the blue upper half is 'SOUTHERN' and in blue lettering on the white lower half is 'SHORE'. [OOC: If you go to the 'Game Map' for this game, select 'Group 0' and hit 'View', you can see it.]

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Angelfish studies the sensor array - quickly, as she has no idea how strong Ty'daal really is.

Southern Shore? Where do I know that name from?  Research time!

Swiming back to the surface, she faces Ty'daal and types carefully,

THANX  I O U 1   MY PEOPLE O U

A moment to note her location on her GPS Need to be able to find the thing again and get her bearings... Then she tosses Ty'daal a jaunty wave before heading back toward the Kiyomi Maru.

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Ty'daal considers his situation for a moment. He has not had much contact with the surface world since arriving. The mecha-squid was, despite his attitude, a pleasant break from the monotony of the routine his life had become. His mind made up, he swims through the water quickly and leaps out of the water landing on the deck of the Kiyomi Maru.

He fixes Dr. Ishida with his gaze, and speaks "Greetings, human. I am Ty'daal. Along with your champion we stopped the construct. Who are you?"

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Dr. Ishida’s cigarette drops from his slack jaw. “…”

It lands unnoticed on the deck. “…”

The cigarette rolls slowly into the scupper, and Dr. Ishida finally recovers his ability to speak coherently. “I’m... I am Ishida Kenji—Doctor Ishida Kenji.” Ishida-san scrambles to his feet and bows stiffly from the waist. “This is extraordinary! You're an alien!" He begins to walk a slow circle around Ty'daal, peering closely at his anatomy.

Just then, Angelfish climbs up the stern ladder, and dismounts lightly onto the Kiyomi Maru's fantail. It takes a moment for the blue-tinted rebreather liquid to drain from her helmet into the suit's regulator.

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
As Angelfish heads for home, she is stunned to see Ty'daal racing along beside her!

Just what is he up to now?!

Once they reach the Kiyomi, Angelfish must make the climb up the stern ladder to the dive platform, while Ty'daal merely launches himself to the deck like a porpoise!  Wow!  O.K., this will be an interesting conversation...

Oh yeah... real interesting...

Once aboard, Angelfish begins the process of draining her helmet and expelling the re-breather fluid from her lungs..  it's not a terribly long process, but it has never felt longer than it does this time.  She can feel Ishida-san watching her intently the entire time...

Finally, "Ishida-san, may I present Ty'daal, last warrior of the Turquoise Dominion" She give Ishida a rueful grin, then turns to Ty'daal, "Ty'daal, this is Dr. Ishida Kenji, noted scientist and my mentor."

(OOC: That's odd.  I didn't see Dain's response to Ty'daal until after I posted mine...  If you feel like it needs to be edited, let me know - it's a little redundant...

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Ishida-san marvels at the webbed nature of Ty'daal's fingers and toes. "Amazing aquatic adaptation! Your people are ocean-dwellers, then?" He peers at the alien warrior's muscular neck. "Gills for respiration... but able to breathe air as well..." He reaches out with a nicotine-stained index finger, cautiously preparing to poke Ty'daal in the chest.

Ty'daal brings his arm up to brush Ishida's hand away and fixes him with a stern gaze, "Since you are an elder, I will not strike you down for that attempted insult. Do not touch me, human. I am not here to be studied like some experiment."

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
This could get out of hand real fast

"O.K. guys, play nice.  I really want to get out of this armor, and we've got things to talk about."

Angelfish begins peeling out of the Mk. VII as she speaks.

"Ty'daal here is pretty much responsible for those sailors getting away from the trawler safely kyoushi,  I couldn't have done it by myself.  That mechanical squid had what looked to be a pretty sophisticated computer running it - mostly standard components, but some of the circuit boards were custom jobs, had a logo engraved on them -- Southern Shore.  That ring any bells with you?"

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
Ishida-san eyes Ty'daal for a second, then steps back and turns to Angela. "Southern Shore? It rings no bells--but we can look into it back at the lab. The Coast Guard will be here soon. We should probably make a graceful exit before they arrive."

"Ty'daal, would you do us the honor of being our guest? My home is also my laboratory, but I promise not to experiment on you, あなたが気づくだろうとどのような方法インチ*." The Japanese phrase is spoken quickly and quietly, and Dr. Ishida smiles a small smile.

[*"in any way that you will notice."]

Ishida-san ducks into the cabin and powers up the engines of the Kiyomi Maru,  steering her in a wide arc away from the cluster of lifeboats. Near the horizon you can see two Coast Guard cutters heading toward them at flank speed.

Re: E1S1 - Somewhere at sea - Ty'daal
"Very well, I will accompany you champion, but only so far as we discover the one behind this attack. And I will not stay in your human structure, the ocean is my home," Ty'daal seemingly declares.

(I suppose once Ty'daal finds out where they live, he will make note of it and assist in the investigation, but he will seek out a coral cave or the like to sleep in at night, close to the shore where he can meet up with Angelfish to look into the matter.)
