E4S4 - Pacific Time Clock and Watch Shop - Time Keeper
When you get back to Pacific Time, your childhood friend David Huli is waiting outside the closed-and-locked door. He has a box under one arm, and he's leaning against the pole holding up the awning, as if he's been waiting for some time.

[OOC: Are you still dressed as / moving as Time Keeper, or have you changed back into your secret ID somewhere along the way?]

Having made it back to the out shirts of the city in a timely manner. Time keeper changed back into his civi gear before finding a bus stop and working his way across town to his shop.

Turning the corner he spotted David stood outside, the building still locked up. He knew David had a key so was a little concerned that he hadn't opened up. Still with a smile on his face and a wave he crossed the street to greet his friend and to find out what was wrong

The two of you enter the shop, and David puts his package down on the counter. "What's with the 'closed' sign? First you disappear for two weeks without a word, now you don't even keep regular store hours?" He leans back against the counter, hands in his pockets. "I'll cover the register any time you need me to, you know that... But this..." He looks disapproving, but also concerned. "What's going on?"

" David, I'm sorry I don't mean to make you concerned but I have things going on I'm trying to sort out....." Damn it david was like a brother they shared everything as kids and teenagers but this was just too dangerous to tell him... But he felt so isolated ... And he suddenly made a decision.

" ok meet me here tonight about ten and I'll try to explain it all to you. But you need to come with an open mind.."

Re: E4S4 - Pacific Time Clock and Watch Shop - Time Keeper
As requested, David comes back around ten. He hands you the six-pack of beer he brought, and steps behind the edge of the counter to look at the framed picture of your grandfather that hangs there. "It's funny, you know? When I think about the old man, I always think of him as being so sad all the time." He says, with a tone of faint puzzlement in his voice. "But then I try to remember any single time when I saw him look sad, and I just can't. He spent a lot of time with me, you know--I'm surprised you weren't jealous--and he was always cheerful... but I can't shake that memory of his sadness, somehow."

Re: E4S4 - Pacific Time Clock and Watch Shop - Time Keeper
Ben went and stood next to his dearest friend and looked at the picture in silence for a moment.

"No I was never jealous of you, you were both there for me when my father rejected me and I moved here to live with him. You were both my rock in a very troubled time..... He saw you as much as a grandson as he did me..... He was that kind of man."

He stopped, afraid his voice would break thinking of the old man " I wish he was here to guide me now but he is not.....so I turn to you in his place ...."

Again he stopped but this time it was to think what to say next but couldn't find the words so he decided action was better than words.

Grabbing one of the cans of beer " so my friend you want to know what has gotten into me lately..... Once you know there is no going back. And you could end up being in danger because of it...."

Then Ben cast his mind into the time stream just a little ahead of the present. He knew he was going to throw the can and her knew where it would travel, he was watching it as he spoke with his minds eye.

Back in there present Ben throw the can it arced up fast but as it tumbled to the ground he stretched out his mind into the future and rapped the can there in the time stream pulling the threads tight and slowing the cans decent.

In the present the can suddenly started to slowly fall to the ground touching it as gently as a feather before time sped up again and it rolled along the floor to stop at David's foot.

After an agonising silence Ben looked over at David " well say something..."

David stares at the can, then at you. "What just happened? Did you... do that? How?" You can tell that he wants it to be some sort of magic trick; misdirection and illusion, but all ultimately explainable.

Re: E4S4 - Pacific Time Clock and Watch Shop - Time Keeper
Ben sat down and looked at his feet. " I don't rightly know. When grand dad passed away I started to have dreams and they started coming true. ..... It was like I was seeing real time before they happened. .... I .....I  started to find the places in my dreams at the time I saw them and try to alter the outcome ..... I once stopped a car from crashing into a river and a little girl being drowned in it."

He stopped for a moment to let it all sink in " I then started to wake up in places I dreamed about without knowing how  I got there. Over the last year other things .....abilities have surfaced. Watch...." and with that he was no longer sitting on the counter but standing next to David.

" I can literally speed up time.. or is it slow it down ....whatever it is it allows me to move extremely fast. I can see seconds into the future and move out of the way of things...." he turned his head away and mumbled slightly "even bullets..."

" I can go forward in time....well my mind can and I can see the different paths of the future and evaluate which will most likely come true if certain things happen..... I can also slow time round people to make they freeze like I just did with the can"

" David you might have seen the news today about an attack on an gas platform out at see.... I was there trying to find evidence of a corrupt company that were poisoning the seas in the area because of their drilling..... I work closely with others with ....abilities....we are using what we have to try to make a difference in the world.... but I can't do it alone if Gand dad was here I'd be telling him this but he isn't .... you're the only family I have and I needed to tell someone before I implode with the enormity of the powers I've been given.... why I don't know but I've been exposed to the dark side of the world and I want to make a stand to protect this island and the world if need be.... and using my powers can do that...." he fell silent not knowing what else to say scared his friend will see him as a freak and not want anything more to do with him

Re: E4S4 - Pacific Time Clock and Watch Shop - Time Keeper
David starts away alarmed as you suddenly appear beside him. "You... you were out on the gas platform? What about the tanker in Nimitz Bay--was that you too?" His eyes are wide. You're not sure if it's fear or amazement. "I've got to sit down for a minute..." He drops onto the stool in front of the worktable at the back of the shop.

"This is a lot to take in..." He says, rubbing the back of his head with one hand. "It's weird. What you said about dreams... I've had strange dreams too. Mostly about the old man... They're so real; as real as memories, but I know they're not what really happened..." He shakes his head. "But I've never developed superpowers because of dreams! Wow."

He turns to look at the clockworks spread across the table; parts of something you've been repairing for a client. "In the dreams, I'm usually here with the old man. You'd think I'd dream about times when the three of us were together, but I never do... Sometimes I wake up crying, and I don't know why..." He pauses for a long time. "You know I had as hard a time as you did, when the old man died. You threw yourself into this place, I threw myself into community service; I guess that's how I wound up being the youngest 'elder' we Kanaka Maoli have ever had." He finishes sheepishly.

"Mrs. Kalakona--you remember her, right? She's a real elder; old as time and perceptive as anything. She knew I was hurting. I don't think she liked your grandfather very much, but she's always been nice to me. She gave me the name of someone I could talk to... Mea A'a Ka'aukai. He lives up on the slopes of the big island; kind of a recluse, I guess. Talking to him was like talking  to the old man; he really hears what you say."

David nods. "It takes most of a day to hike up the side of Mauna Loa. We'd better get an early start." He rises to leave. "I'll meet you at the ferry terminal at dawn, OK?"

He nods, and grins slightly. "It's going to take me a while to get used to you being the master of speed and time... But unless you want to carry me all the way to the big island while you run on water or whatever, let's take the ferry."
