E3S8 - Liloa
Time Keeper:
The city is frozen around you as you sprint through the streets. You arrive in Liloa, a residential neighborhood of middle- and lower-income homes. It's the sort of place that has drawn an increased police presence in recent years--over the social objections of some native spokespeople, like David Huli. The large and well-equipped police station has apparently drawn the attention of the Tinker's army...

You're two blocks from the station when you arrive at the scene of your vision--just as the feather-helmeted warrior is slammed to the pavement by the monstrous vehicle!

Suddenly, the front of the tank rises! The warrior, legs braced far apart, hands raised, is lifting the whole thing on his straining shoulders! He's ruined the aim of the main turret and the machineguns, but missiles fire from the launcher on the rear hull--heading for the fleeing crowd!

You have six targets, each moving just a bit faster than twice the speed of sound; they have two city blocks to fly--one third of a second before impact.

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
Time Keeper watched as the missiles sailed through the air and quick as a flash dived back into the time stream. In the hazy world of the time lines he saw the silhouette of the missiles streaking forward.

He traced their time waves back to the tank and from there he unravelled the tank's time line to the moment just before the large native lifted it off the ground.

Pulling the time line apart he attempted to re-stitch the strands together trying to set up a possibility loop that would allow him to alter the outcome.

Leaving a hole in the centre of the web of time he dived back through and into the present minus 10 minutes.

Stepping out he quickly rode the time waves only he could see as fast as he could to make contact with the tank and ever so slightly divert the trajectory of the missiles into the ground rather than their intended targets.

Time Keeper:
Riding a wave of time like a surfer rides a breaker, you blur through divergent realities rewinding causality as you go. Within the pipeline of time, you zero in on the moment before the missiles fire...

At the crest of your time-wave, you run up the rear hull of the tank even as the Hawai'ian sumo wrestler is flattened by the forward hull. Slamming your full weight--and velocity--into the missile launcher, you knock it out of alignment and tilt it downward!

The impact decellerates you to merely vehicular speed just as the native warrior lifts the forward hull of the tank into the line of fire! Six missiles impact on the tank's own forward turret, creating a fireball that fills the intersection!

[OOC: Defend against Difficulty 7 to avoid being hit by the explosion and shrapnel. The explosion does 7 Stamina if you're caught in it.]

As the flame and smoke clears, you see the feather-helmeted warrior still standing in the center of the asphalt crater. "These things are easier to break than I thought!" He exults. Catching sight of you, he yells "Let's find another one!"

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
An upside down VTOL speeds into the area, a long-haired figure maniacally pounding on it as it vectors in.

If an observer was close enough they could hear what he was saying: No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no!!!"

I'll try to rip it apart on the implausibly optimistic theory that lots of small pieces falling to the ground will do less damage than one large piece will.

Strength 9 + Roll -2 = 7.

As time rights itself and the explosion envelops Time Keeper he grabs as much of the time stream he can and wrapped it round him in an attempt to ward off some if not all of the damage that he might take.

OOC: 12:26, Today: Time Keeper rolled -4 using 2d6-7. force field roll (5). total 1 I assumed time keeper would go for the force field option to defend himself..... doesn't seem to have worked :(

Time Keeper:
The force of the explosion sends you flying, then sprawling. From your prone position, you can see Todd in what appears to be desperate hand-to-something combat with a crippled VTOL.
[OOC: Take 7 Stamina from the shrapnel. Ouch!]

Todd:
The weirdly-bumpy metal of the VTOL shreds easily beneath your fingers! Once you separate the fuselage, each of the separate turbofans rips their stub-wings loose on their own. After that, it's all over but the falling...

Shreds of metal rain down on a huge and muscular native Hawai'ian dressed in traditional feather-work cloak and helmet. You know your local superheroes; it's Haikili, avatar of the Hawai'ian god of thunder! He leaps thirty feet straight up, making a desperate grab to catch you as you fall! It almost works...

You both land a block or so away. His eyes go wide as he sees that you are (relatively) unharmed. A broad hand reaches out to help you to your feet. "Impressive!" He booms. "I thought you were a goner. Now, tell me; were you fighting that thing--or flying it?" His dark eyes are hard as he says that last phrase. He's not sure you're not one of the bad guys...

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
Time keeper realised his mistake just as his world was enveloped in a ball of flame and notice. Images spun across his vision as the explosion sent him cartwheeling through the air to land with a solid thump on the cracked and charred Tarmac some distance away.

As he pulled himself up into a sitting position the world around him seemed to be in slow motion though he knew instinctively it wasn't of his doing. The fire from the blast evaporated to leave the large native dressed man standing there with no noticeable damage to himself.

Out of the corner of his eye he witnessed what looked like one of the attack ships literally falling apart and was that?..... No surely not..... Yes it was....Todd was stood on its hull doing the ripping. Suddenly it started to fall from the sky Todd with it. With leadened  hands time keeper tried to concentrate on slowing down time to save his friend. But at that moment fate decided to slam the master of time back into the here and now.

Suddenly noise bombarded his hearing as the deafness from the explosion went, that wasn't the worse of it with the sudden sound came the pain, his body suddenly acknowledging it had just been blown up. He cried out and fell back curling into a ball trying to focus on pushing the pain away to saving his friend.

From his position he watched in horror as Todd fell preparing himself to witness the impact when suddenly a blur shot across his vision and Todd was snatched away from his doom. Time keeper tried to keep track of the figure through pain filled eyes as he forced himself to focus he saw the native muscle man standing there with Todd held in his arms. Time keeper laughed in relieve that his team mate had been saved but regretted it as the laughter bought on a sudden bout of stabbing pain and the laugh turned into a groan of agony.

He jerks his arm away. Staggers a bit. Sits down.

Time Keeper:
You're battered, and your costume has seen better days, but you're alive--and so are the people those missiles would have killed if they'd hit!

But the old saying is "there's no rest for the wicked". Which only means that there's no rest for the people fighting against the wicked either. Fromm where you are, you can see that a second tank and a squad of blue-armored mercenaries have seized control of the Liloa police precinct! The tank you destroyed must have been heading there to reinforce the Tinker's control of the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, of course, it looks like Todd and the native warrior are getting off on the wrong foot...

Hailiki stands over Todd, looking suspicious.  "You did not answer my question," he says in an ominous voice.

Todd's had enough. He climbs to his feet, leans his face inches from the warrior's, and replies, "let me explain this simply."

He takes a deep breath. "NO I WAS NOT THE PILOT AS ANY GODDAMN FOOL SHOULD KNOW! I WAS RIPPING THE DAM THING APART WHILE HANGING FROM THE UNDERSIDE, TRYING TO KEEP IT FROM KILLING SOMEONE!"

He steps back, fist balled up and glowers. "And if that's not good enough for you - bring it on. I'm having a crap day and could use a laugh."

Willpower 3 + Roll 4 = 7. Success.

Pity, really. We're overdue for some hero on hero conflict. ;)

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
Time Keeper could see Todd was in one of those moods and although his body complained he pulled himself up and tagging a time thread shot off across the ground to place himself in the middle of both of them.

"OK children Daddy will take your toys away if you don't play nicely." he said through gritted teeth.

" I think this little spate can wait till we take the city back if you don't mind. Todd this guy is fighting the same enemy as we are" he said turning to Todd then back to Hailiki " and you can take my word for it that Todd here is not one of the bad guys"

He looked around "ok no time to waste .... literally" he said "lets go take back the police station"

"Oh and if you decide to pick up a tank again my feathered friend make sure its guns are pointing either up or down, I had to fiddle with time back there to stop your last toy from killing hundreds of people and I got blown up in the process .... THAT is something I do not want to have to go through again"

Todd, Time Keeper:
Haikili looks abashed at being yelled at by both of you. Then he grins, and claps both of you on the back, pulling you into a brotherly sumo-hug!

[OOC: He's really enthusiastic; by rights this should cost you each a Stamina--but Todd can take it, and Time Keeper's Stamina is in short supply, so we'll skip that part. :)]

"Lead the way, little one!" He booms, putting you both back down.

The Liloa police station is a solidly-built blockhouse two stories high, with a fenced-in parking area to one side. A row of palm trees shade the front entrance. Every window is barred and reinforced with steel mesh. Flood-lights are positioned at all four corners of the roof and cameras cover all the approaches.

Not that any of that protected the place. One of the articulated tanks rolled through the fence and smashed a dozen squad cars and an evidence van flat. It's parked half in and half out of the lot, all six machine gun turrets and it's main cannon panning slowly from side to side. A dozen blue-armored mercenaries have taken over the building. The fate of the police officers (and civilians) inside can't be determined from out here...

looking over the building "Well I'm quick and can bend time to my will so I could get in to see what state the hostages are in while you two attack from the front and back. If I can get the prisoners out then we can just beat the crap out of the villains and be done with it."

Time Keeper, Todd:
Haikili nods, the fine orange feathers on the forward-curving plume of his helmet waving. "Done!" Turning to Todd, he continues. "You take the front; I'll jump over the building and surprise whoever is behind it."

He drops into the super-deep crouch of a Sumo wrestler, then springs into the air!

[OOC: That's going to draw some attention from the mercenaries. Whatever you two are going to do, better make it fast. :)]

Time Keeper:
There's a front entrance to the building, underneath the Liloa District Police Station sign. There's a side entrance, facing the parking lot--probably used by officers going to and from their squad cars. That's likely the easiest path to the holding cells and other non-public-access areas of the station. It's also the path closes to the tank... There's probably roof access as well.

Then he punches it.

Todd:
Your fist shatters the tank's front armor! In fact, the pebble-surfaced steel begins to crumble to powder around the spot you hit, creating a wide and deep crater and revealing the electronics and cabling inside. Sparks fly as the tank lurches into reverse, attempting to turn to bring it's side-firing machineguns to bear!

Meanwhile, the bulletproof glass side door to the station is fitted with a handy metal-framed firing port--which allows one of the blue-armored mercenaries inside to target you with his SMG!

[OOC: Defend vs a Difficulty of 5. The SMG does 5 Stamina on a hit.]

Time Keeper:
[OOC: Do you want to go in through the front entrance or the side entrance? Admittedly, the side entrance is a little crowded right now. :)]

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
Not wanting to push his luck, Todd decides a quick dive behind cover might be a good idea. He hits the ground behind a smashed squad car and rolls as the bullete spang! into the chassis.

Todd sizes up the car. This could work out well...

The instant the firing stops he stands up and kicks the car at the tank.

Dodge: coordination 6 + Roll 3 = 9.

Kick: coordination 6  + Roll -2 = 4.

Todd:
Your kick sends the car skidding and flipping across the parking lot, into the war machine's flank! Machinegun bullets rip through the battered squad car, but the impact of the crash is tremendous! The tank rocks on it's treads, and the entire thing begins to turn to dust!

Inside the police station, the mercenary who was shooting at you grabs his radio. "Unit Lima Sierra to Tinker; we need backup..."

Time Keeper hugged the buildings facade while he took a deep breath. He sent his mind into the time stream and grabbed the hear and now to wrap round himself for protection (force field) and then grabbed onto one leading through the main entrance but just before he let it pull him into the building he gave the time lines one last look to see the possible outcomes of what he was about to do.

Taking advantage of some of the recently shredded cyclone fence, Todd tears up a 20 foot section and hurls it at the mercenary.

Re: E3S8 - Liloa
Todd:
The cyclone fence shatters the bullet-resistant door glass, and tangles the mercenary with the radio in a mass of twisted wire that blocks the entire exit!

From behind the building, you hear automatic weapons fire--then, suddenly, the ground shakes violently! Either there's just been an earthquake, or something really massive just hit the ground over there really hard. The concrete foundation of the police station cracks, and a couple of the mesh-reinforced windows turn white as a webwork of fine cracks skitters across them.

Time Keeper:
Time slows to a crawl as you jog casually into the Liloa Police station. It looks like an explosion went off in here. The bullet resistant glass separating the desk sergeant from the entryway is shattered. Apparently it wasn't also grenade resistant. A pair of blue-armored mercenaries have the desk sergeant in handcuffs and lying on the floor behind the counter. There's a faint bass sound, deep and rumbling; you can't make out where it's coming from.

The pass-through door is off it's hinges; you can see it slowly falling as the air you displace shakes it like a slow-motion gale. Beyond it is a hallway; on the right, a corridor to the side entrance, now blocked with a huge mass of twisted cyclone fence. On the left, more hallway; offices... break room... radio dispatch office... Mercenaries everywhere; at least half a dozen. The one at the far end of the hall is standing frozen in front of a heavy metal-framed door, with one hand out before his chest. In mid=toss above the hand is a ring of heavy keys, floating in midair. At your speed, you can barely see it moving as it falls back toward the mercenary's palm.

"That... 'll... hold... 'em." The bass sound resolves in your mind. It's been this mercenary's voice all along, stretched out to your hypertime perceptions. "Hilarious! Cops... locked... up... in... their... own... jail!"

As you run down the corridor, dodging stationary mercenaries, the floor ripples. It's rising up underneath your feet, moving visibly. That ripple must be moving at the speed of sound! Thanks to your precognitive sense, you see the shockwave propagate across time, and place your feet carefully on the wave's peaks. The merc's aren't so lucky; they're toppling like ten-pins!

[OOC: Either of you can act in whatever order you choose!]
