Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
You spend the next four days retracing your route through the Stalking Trees, heading roughly south-west. Thankfully, unlike the outward journey, you are not constantly under attack from woodcrafty tribesmen, and the few threats you encounter are easily dealt with or avoided. After you recent experiences, the journey feels almost like a holiday, and only the memory of you losses keeps you from enjoying it more.

The terrain has become more and more hilly, and this morning you caught sight of the Brooken Pass from atop a high escarpment. Brooken is perhaps a days long march away. You also notice a huge plume of smoke a dozen miles away to the north east, thankfully not in your path.

Later that day around midday, at a bend in the faint trail you have been following stands a dwarf, dressed in leather armour and garbed for war, standing stock still as if made from stone.

Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
Durum stands listening to the world and absorbing the sunlight. He takes in the smell of smoke from the distant fire. A grey squirrel sits on his left shoulder eating an acorn as it chats with the druid. As the adventurers come into view, Durum's eyes focus on them quickly settling on two in particular. The squirrel runs around Durum's head to his right shoulder and takes a quick look at the newcomers before leaping away and darting into the nearby brush.

With the patients of stone, Durum waits silently. His shield remains slung on his back and his weapons remain on his belt.

"You're a sight for sore eyes!" Gilad calls to the dwarf, happy to be back on the outskirts of civilization. "We've been stumbling through the Sun Falls for what feels like an Age. Any news from the pass?"

The dwarf turns his attention to Gilad Rott. As he meets the bard's eyes, Gilad cannot help but notice the odd look of his right eye.

"No," he answers simply. His attention drifts from the bard to the others. "You're late. I'm Durum Stoneguard. There is danger. Your help is needed."

"Once more into the breach..." the bard mutters. He looks back at the others with a sheepish shrug.

"Right then, what's the trouble?" he asks Durum. Gilad wipes his brow, briefly exposing the circlet tightly bound over his forehead.
