Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
The little clockwork creatures were vicious in the attack, slash and hacking with sharpened steel forelimbs. Vethryn's long spear kept her safely out of range of 0the few that struck at her. Unfortunately, even her best efforts were not enough to allow the priestess to peel away completely and so it was that with a shouted battle cry, invoking the name of Ushug, that the elf lashed out with her weapon.

21:13, Today: Vethryn rolled 5 using 1d20-4.  Disengage Attempt.
21:16, Today: Vethryn rolled 29 using 1d20+12.  Attack on insects.

Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
Vander destroys two of the three workers trying to repair the linkage, but one gets through and working furiously, gets the gears connected again.

Rolled the AoO for you Vander. BTW nice try, but the Crit on Shadow Walk has no additional effect ;) Also, the workers seem to head for damaged machinery, rather than combat opponents, so leading them away would involve smashing something.

Shakru smashes the last insect engaged with him to smithereens.

Zanne zaps the ballista, almost disabling it. As with last round, the first insect to attack her is blasted to pieces by her thunder.

Gilad's hungry blade cuts through his five opponents with a groan of pleasure. The bard, now free to move, heads over to join Sigmund.

Sigmunds blow, although weak, is enough to disable the ballista, which stops winding with a shriek of tortured steel.

Vethryn takes down two more clockwork insects and damages a third, Durum takes care of three more, with another one on its last legs.

The remaining insects attack, with the five that were surrounding Vander seeking new foes. Disturbingly, they are becoming more accurate, as if evolving their tactics to overcome you. Only Shakru manages to evade their attacks completely.

Vethryn 4HP
Zanne 4HP
Durum 8HP
Sigmund 12HP

The clock work insects get an Escalation Dice! It is in brackets after yours.

With Vander out of the way five more workers rush to the damaged linkage, strengthening the repairs made by their comrade.

Another five head for the ballista, but Sigmund and Gilad stand ready.

An AoA for Sigmund and Gilad.

Round 12. Escalation dice +6(+1). Init order: Shakru(3), Zanne(3), Gilad, Vander, Sigmund(5), Vethryn(3), Durum(3), workers, clockwork insects.

Seeing how the only damn thing that can be broken for good around here was the Ballista, Vander appeared there and started breaking all the important wires and levers and such. Then he will spring away, planning to finish off another...

Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
The bard slashes through a few more of the workers rushing for the ballista, then turns his sabre to the clockwork insects swarming onto Sigmund, slicing his way towards the warrior.

"It looks busted." Gilad remarks to him, nodding his head over to the ballista behind them, freshly ripped apart by Vander. "Let's make for the last one, before they get a shot off at the Ark."

22 damage on Gilad's opportunity attack against the workers. He then attacks the clockwork insects engaged with Sigmund, dealing 21 damage if a 25 is enough to hit their AC. It's an odd roll, so I'll use Hang Tough give Sigmund 4 temp hp (if he's staggered, that's doubled to 8hp instead).

Gilad Rott rolled 24 using 1d20+14 with rolls of 10.  Opportunity Attack.
Gilad Rott rolled 22 using 3d8+5 with rolls of 6,4,7.  Damage.

Gilad Rott rolled 25 using 1d20+14 with rolls of 11.  Melee Attack vs Insects.

Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
Stung repeatedly by the stinging insects, Sigmund takes a deep breath and channels his anger in a different direction--at the workers. He steps up and starts swatting the workers hither and yon, destroying a good number of them.

He then turns and delives a blow to one of the clockwork insects, almost as if in a spiteful afterthought!

OA on clockwork workers hits for 13 hp.

On my turn, fighter attack on the workers--CRIT for 36 hp damage on the worker mook mob. Natural even roll (as all nat 20s are), so Hack N Slash on the clockwork insects--hits AC 30 for 20 hp on them.

14:32, Today: Sigmund rolled 20 using 3d8+4 with rolls of 6,8,2.  Normal damage on clockwork insects.
14:32, Today: Sigmund rolled 18 using 3d8+4 with rolls of 6,7,1.  Crit damage (double this).
14:29, Today: Sigmund rolled 30 using 1d20+12 with rolls of 18.  Hack n Slash on Clockwork Insects.
14:29, Today: Sigmund rolled 32 using 1d20+12 with rolls of 20.  Attack workers directly.
14:27, Today: Sigmund rolled 13 using 3d8+4.  AoO damage.

"Damn it!" Zanne swears as her arm gets clipped by one of the insects surrounding her. With a swift motion she swats at the one that hit her.

If a 19 hits the insects, 15 damage and the next one to attack gets blasted; otherwise 3.

14:03, Today: Zanne rolled 15 using 3d6+3.  Damage.
14:00, Today: Zanne rolled 19 using 1d20+13.  Echoing Thunder.

Vethryn spits blood as she twirls away from the attacking spiders, their claws flickering out to strike at her as she retreats. "Kron Ushug kral vorath!" Long white strands of power burst from the Wife of the Colossus and sink warmly into her companions. Renewed by the orcish battle call and wounds healed by divine power, they can fight on.

Re: Chapter Two: Back to Brooken
Between them Gilad and Sigmund destroy all five of the workers trying to reach the ballista.

Shakru's axe rises and falls and the two of the clockwork insects mobbing him are reduced to scrap metal, leaving one badly damaged.

I rolled a recovery for you Shakru, +31HPs.

Zanne burns two more, and the remaining insect is destroyed after it attacks her.

Gilad cuts into the insects attacking Sigmund, destroying three. The warrior dispatched the final two himself, and well and cutting down five workers.

Vander repeatedly stabs the ballista mechanism until it is beyond repair.

You only get double damage on the first attack Vander, none the less it was enough.

Durum takes down his three opponents with a flurry of hammer strikes.

There are now only 4 clockwork insects and one worker left! The last worker, seeing the ballista destroyed and his comrades in pieces, turns its repair drill on its clockwork heart until it stops.

Three insects move to re-engage their last target, Vethryn, while the survivor of Shakru's axe attacks again. They are still improving their technique, but are unlikely to survive to pass on their knowledge...

4HP Shakru, 8HP Vethryn.

With a groan of iron and a rush of steam, the doors on the second steel flying machine open. More opponents will doubtless be emerging.

Round 13. Escalation dice +6(+2). Init order: Shakru(1), Zanne, Gilad, Vander, Sigmund, Vethryn(3), Durum, workers, clockwork insects.

The barbarian was in his element he lived for the fight and although the sound of axe on metal was not as comforting as that of metal on flesh  he had started to judge when his attacks did damage.

Seeing that there was only one foul mechanical creature left in front of him he lifted his axe once more and brought it down to take its life.

Vethryn and Shakru dispatch the last of the wave of insects as they try to catch up with the rest of the party, but a new swarm boils out of the stricken craft and give pursuit. Just before they reach the ballista they are both forced to stop an defend against five each. Vethry is barely scratched, but Shakru takes a hard knock.
