Blow off the Finals. Then you just have to focus on Christmas.  ;-)

Seriously, study hard and do well.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Yeah I've been pretty drunk BUSY this season.
Heh-heh.
Seriously tho, the holidays are always eventful times and at work we have tons of people taking off leaving us in a perpetual state of "short handed" since Thanksgiving.
I'm going to try to be diligent.

Now if you're excuse me I need to pick up some more nitrogen. ;)

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

First of all, I wish to apologize for my absence from the game. RL has its way of injecting it’s influence over game play. My absence will have to continue into the New Year for I will be out of town and most likely out of touch till at least New Year’s Day. Thank you for continuing this journey with me.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. In the bottom of your stockings, you will find that Santa has left you 3 XP’s and 2 DP’s. Enjoy family and friends this holiday season and be safe.

Merry Christmas, everyone... As usual I'm fighting the holidays flu (running 102 degrees or so, or just shy of 39°C), so you'll have to forgive me if all I can come up with at the moment is: have a great Christmas, and may 2008 bring you much joy.

Well, more than 330 days to go, so a somewhat delayed Happy New Year to you all.

Finals all went down flawlessly, so I've stupidly committed myself to an even greater workload for this term.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Ladies and Gentleman, Cast and Crew, my friends. I don’t think this will come as a huge surprise to anyone. But, I will be shutting down our game. I no longer have the creative energy, desire, or time needed to continue on as your GM in this game. I had thought that I could manage the RL distractions, but I was wrong. Just before the holidays I was hit with a couple of unexpected and demanding situations. I don’t see these situations being resolved anytime soon so, real life will have to take priority. My family and I are well and healthy, so don’t worry. Let’s just say that my time and my energy needs to be focused elsewhere right now.

I won’t be handing the game over to anyone else at this time, including the Assistant Director. I don’t have any plans to resurrect the game in the future but, if that should ever change I will contact each of you through rmail. If I ever run another game on RPOL, I can’t think of a better cast to have in my game.

You have all been good and supportive friends. You are all great writers and gamers. I have been blessed that on this, my first venture as GM of a Play by Post game, that I was able to play with you all. My game was very enjoyable due to you. I just laid the foundation. It was you all that brought it to life. I’m sorry that it has to end.
I wish you all good health, success, and happiness.

God's speed, Compie.  Thank you for the romp.

Adieu...

Castmates, you're brilliant, creative artists, each of you, and it's been my pleasure and good fortune to watch and learn from your work.

Light to you, and great success in all your endeavors.

Shanti.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Well... What can I say. While the news didn't exactly come out of the blue, it's sad to see yet another good game go.

Anyway, Compton, thank you for everything: going back to look at the meticulous job you've done throughout the entire game, I realize how lucky we were to have such a great Director.

To my fellow castmates: I think Pieran really said it the best possible way, and man I wish I had half of your word mastery.

It's been great playing with you all.

We had some three and a half years of fun: as far as online games go, I'd say we've done pretty well for ourselves.

I wish everyone the best of luck, and who knows, RL permitting, maybe we'll meet again.

Incidentally, does anyone have a backup of the game threads? Especially a copy of the OOC thread before the 1000 posts: dumping and glueing together 54 HTML pages is not quite my idea of a fun time. It was a long-running game with a lot of posts, and RPOL is going to keep it alive for several months, but eventually it'll be deleted...

Thanks,

*

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

It's not a surprise, but it is a shame.  I'll miss you all; we had some fun times together and this game was - and probably will remain for a long time - one of my favourites out everything I've ever played, online and face-to-face.

Take care, everyone.  It was an honour.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Thank you for your kind words. We did have a lot of fun.

Iain, I can and do have all the game threads and OOC threads downloaded and saved. How would you like them? Word format or Text? I can even do them HTML source if you like.

BTW, that goes for anyone who wants them. It will take me a few days to compile the files into a neat package, but I can do it if you want. Just let me know what you are looking for.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

It was a great game. This has been one of the best casts I've had the pleasure of playing with. Compton, you ran a game that is head and shoulders above anything else I've come across on RPOL. I think you, as our Director, deserve a lot of credit for a fantastic gaming experience. I'll miss the game, but I understand how real life can get in the way. And I'll miss all of you but, hopefully we'll run into each other again on RPOL. Take care everyone. I hope to game with you again one day.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Sorry, I would have said something sooner had I been online. I too have to admit it's not a surprise but always a disappointment. Fist and foremost I'm glad to hear the family is okay.

I think I also have to give it to the cast - really. Everyone came to this "table" with such a richly developed story first and foremost. Then there was the idea that  not all the character types were designed to get along with one another and finally that no one compromised this for a path of least resistance.

However, had our Director not set the perfect stage and provided us the right motivation I could also have these stories taking a turn for the worse. It was like Angel meets "the Surreal Life".
Ian - special Kudos to you - as Dren I kept bringing the heat and you always found a way to keep up that "moral high road", not an easy task. And also Alexis who was giving us a very strong yet vulnerable character.
Speical thanks to Raven for the other half of the Dren team - half the time I was the passanger in the plot but it was a hell of a ride.

To everyone really, fine jobs all around. Perian, Johnny and Iona did fine jobs but didn't have to put up with me as much! Heh-heh. If I ever have the chance to play with this team again - I will more than gladly jump at it, and promise not to be as Irish and annoying.

FYI to all, I was saving up all my points as I'd had plans to kill off Dren and bring him back as a member of the Undead which I considered "dramtic irony" as Dren despised Ian so much that he would literally become what he hated and being the thematic type that I am I had this song verse I wanted to use for him but I think I'll lend it to the show as a whole.

G'Night folks!

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore
That cold black cloud is coming down
Feels like I'm knocking on heaven's door

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Yeah, I'm sad that we won't be able to see the Dren & Raven story play out, but lately real life has been interfering with my own RPOL time. I'm not sure that I'd be able to give it the needed attention anymore. For those of you who might be curious, we did plan on eventually making Dren & Raven a couple. Marco was just going to be a little speed bump along the way. And as soon as we brought them together as a happy, contented couple -- we were going to kill both Raven & Dren. Then Dren would be resurrected as some new kind of vengeful undead. I give a lot of credit to Dren for coming up with a truly unique creature.

Dren, I can't express how much fun it's been to be your writing partner for this little plot line.

I really will miss playing with all of you. But I don't fault Compton. Real life can be such a drag sometimes. Thanks to everyone here for making this one of the best times I've had role-playing. I learned a lot from each of you. You guys made me a better writer and a better role-player.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Compton: Mostly I'm just saving the threads as they are... I like to keep the character pictures and the posting dates, even though they aren't always precise.

Dren: thank you, you created a character I really loved to hate, fortunately Iain was kind of a Zen vampire ;)

I'll really miss seeing the developments of the story.

Just in case, I'll leave you my email: asterix99@gmail.com.

Compton, that is also good for any of those game thread files you could send me... There shouldn't be any size problems :P

Thanks, everybody, hope I'll meet you all again.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

If comp does a D/L of the thread there are options to leave all the posts and such.
If you don't mind the HTML I'm sure Compton would do something as simple as:
D/L
check all options.
the "Save Page As" and put it in it's own folder.
Zip the folder up and gmail you the zip file in HTML with all the images and everything...

(Just trying to help you out my Friend)

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

The problem is, the D/L feature is disabled for threads with over 1000 messages.

Otherwise I would've used the "all" page and just saved it.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

Are you sure about that?
I think the D/L feature is just disabled for anyone not a GM (because of the "show private lines" feature it would make it to easy for players to just D/L a thread and see these) but I have a game with 1075 messages in one thread and I just made sure I could D/L it which I did just fine.

In an older game that I ran I think I had "Episodes" upwards of 2000 and could still D/L them as I recently finished off and deleted the game... now what I ultimatly end up doing with this stuff is unknow but I've got them.

Re: Green Room 2 (OOC)

I no longer GM an games with more than 1000 posts per thread so I can't check, I recall asking the mods at one time, and they explicitly told me it was disabled for GM's too.

Things may have changed since, though.
