The resistance fighter is bruised uncomfortably where he hit the floor of the vehicle on his lower back. There are no visual indicators of any other conditions, but parts of his chest feel loose.

After inspecting the injured man, Ariel rolls the man on is back and runs off to the boat, where sh finds a couple of oars. sing some rope and cloth, she constructs a makeshift stretcher, lifts the man onto it, and then begins to carry him towards the base.

Trees on the northern side of the island display gouges and torn leaves. It looks like something may have cut the trees badly.

     The man is finally brought to the base and laid down in a locked room with a note right in front of his face warning "Don't move. Your ribs are broken. Your friend is alive and well." Some food is left beside his bed with a glass of water and an ice pack is left over his chest.
     After setting up the unconscious man, Ariel decides to go and track down that strange man wandering her island. She leaves the base.

Well, there you two are.
Think opposite sides of the island. You guys are going to be pissed at this, but there's a bit of wonkiness following around the shadow guy. Wormholes and random bits of time are interfering with your current location... Going North leads the shadow man into a dense jungle. The carnage in the trees has become more evident here. Ariel on the other hand ends up in a desert that has never existed in this part of the world. Try walking around, it'll be fun!

     Well then, I suppose Ariel may be experiencing a little bit of panic since she has never even been to a different biome than the cold temperate climate of the islands. Seeing no real escape and no extreme attachment to the lonely island, she decides to walk around a bit and see what she can find. maybe this stranger is responsible.

As the shadowed one pushes deeper, the jungle he is now in collapses around him. Foliage on all sides takes on a sinister air. The very ground seems to darken with moisture and perhaps more than a little menace... The marks on the trees are looking more like claw marks. Something big and tough might be just around the corner...

Ariel on the orther hand stumbles into a new land, turning to the right will give an excellent view across the Grand Canyon, but to the left appears to be Siberian mountains... Or perhaps it isn't the Grand Canyon, just something made to look like it...

Picking a direction will always lead somewhere new, unless it brings you back to where you wanted to be...

The darkness has taken all sight from the first of you, but his inherent powers allow him to sense his surroundings enough to know there is a large creature slowly circling him. The second of you moves towards the canyon, only to be abruptly placed in the center of it, right at the bottom. Towards one end there is a sparse forest with mist layering the ground, and at the other, a verdant oasis.

The mist of the forest enshrouds Ariel as she walks into the bare trees. The large creature attacks the shadow at the same time. The icy grip of the descending mist mirrors the crushing claws of the giant beast attacking Shadow. The creature swipes at Shadow, leaving deep cuts in his chest across his shoulder. All ahead is misty for the both of you...

As Shadow progress through the mist, he gets sliced a few more times, though all of it were really shallow cuts in random placements, but one did get his arm. He is unable to move his left arm, not much more then lifting his forearm up 90 degrees. After the tenth cut, he stops, sits down, and starts patching up the cuts. Once he finishes, he gets back up and continues on his way.

After patching up a good amount of the wounds, Shadow gets back up and continues walking, though this time, he evades the claws of the creature, just by a hair, at each swipe that was made at him. He soon gets annoyed enough that he takes out his weapon and swings at the unknown creature, having learned it's attack pattern by now. He feels his sword touch something barely physical and changes it into a scythe, holding with one hand, and starts spinning it around himself, warding off the blows of the creature or take some damage but also hurting the creature back in turn. This keeps up until he is either out of the mist, he dies from the encounter, the creature backs off, or the creature dies.
