The Council of Five

Date: December 21st 2012
Location: The Council of Five, Binah

The Council of Five are the rulers of the Angels. In many ways they occupy a position in the supernatural world similar to the USA at the end of the 20th century. They are the only real super power, capable of facing the next four biggest armies at once, and fight a few brush wars as well.

Re: The Council of Five

So this concludes the report. The situation is as it has been for two thousand years. There are currently no credible threats to Gods creation:
  • The demons have been cast into hell. The few that remain are bound by the Covenant, and pose little threat to God's creation.
  • The pagan gods live in their heavens. Although they travel to earth occasionally, they interfere very little. Their occasional children either serve us, sign the covenant or are dealt with
  • The titans are still imprisoned in Tartarus. As you know we have outsourced their prison management to the Pagan Gods, and I have to say I think that was a good idea. Put one abomination to guard another ::smug chuckle:: and the gods are very motivated not to let their children out.
  • There are still a few cursed creatures that wander thea earth: Vampires, Werewolfs and the like. They however are small in number and power. If they can conform to the covenant, then they are allowed to exist, other wise they are hunted down and ... removed.
  • There are it has to be said a few mortals with magical powers. They are sufficiently insignificant to the greater powers ::he preens:: to be ignorable.

Re: The Council of Five

Raphael stood, brooding. "Yet they still exist. Our remit is clear. The threats to god's most beloved creatures, these humans" he spat the word out then calmed his breathing. "The threats to humans still exist. They need to be cut out like a cancer and destroyed". Even after all these millenia it still hurt Raphael, like many angels, that god clearly loved these humans more than the angels themselves. You also did not discuss the gods of the East. They grow in power and strength. We may have dealt them a serious blow over the last four centuries, but we have no real diplomatic ties with them, and they have not signed the covenant.

Re: The Council of Five

I share your view Raphael. These things, all these things, needs to be crushed like the bugs they are. The signs of the appocalypse is upon us. Twice in the last hundred years the signs for the birth of the anti-christ were detected. The last but 6 years ago. Uriel brooded. When the anti-christ was declared, the final battle would be fought. Yet over the last several hundred years the signs of the birth had occured, but the anti-christ had not appeared... Zerachiel I appeal to you again to track down those responsible for averting the appocalypse. You know that there are clear signs of

Re: The Council of Five

Enough!

When Michael slammed his fist on the table, everyone looked. You are bickering like children, not the guardians of God's creation. You are wasting time on unimportant matters. If the anti-christ arrives, we will defeat him. I will personally throw him down into Hell life I did his father. But: and it is a big but. We are incomplete. The council of Five is but Five in name. Gabriel is missing, and without his reflection of our fathers mercy and love we should not be making preparations for war. I move, once again, that we make the finding of Gabriel the top priority of this council.

Re: The Council of Five

The council meeting closed. As ever its results had been inconclusive. Since Gabriel had vanished in 1210AD the council had rarely come to any major decisions. By its very nature it results in 2 vs 2, almost no matter the issue.

Michaels Palace

Michael sat in his war room, finishing the last few scratches on the pristine vellum.

He rolled the scroll up, sealed it with wax and handed it to a Seraphim messenger. Take this is Ms Feather. She will know what to do.

He turned away and thought hard. Were his plans adequate? Well he had moved the pieces into place, now was the time to begin.

He moved over to his window showing a panoramic view of the plane of Binah, with the world known as Earth lying below. He draw a sharp black stone dagger, drew it across his hand and radiant essence flew from it.

He leapt towards the Earth below, wings unfurling...dagger raised...

Re: Council of Five, December 23rd 2012

Raphael stormed into the council chamber and throw a sheaf of paper on the table.

"How could this happen" the question was rhetorical, he didn't expect the other two to answer.

"We lost every Guardian Angel almost simultaneously". His eyes narrowed "And where is Michael"

Re: Council of Five, December 23rd 2012

Zerachial sat back, fingers steepled together. "Michael told me yesterday he wasn't going into retreat for a month or so, and wasn't to be disturbed." He shrugged "Nothing we can do about it. If he's gone for more than a couple of months I'll invoke an Internal Affairs clause and summon him via his angel's heart."

"In the meantime, rather than worrying about How or Who did this, we need to work out who their replacements are going to be. As you know I like to circulate the Guardian Angels. A few hundred years on, followed by a few millenia of Ecstasis. Stops them going native. I've got a couple ready and trained, but not 50. I'll have to wake some up then arrange for on the job training. Bit of a shock to the system: floating in serenity then dropped on Earth for a few hundred years without any preparation. Ah well probably a few more than usual will go native, but nothing I cannot handle".

Zerachiel paused in contemplation

"I'll invoke our defense clause with our vassal states and get some help from the pagans and the undying lodge"

Explanatory Note

General Knowledge:
Normally when an Angel is killed, it returns to Binah and floats in Ecstasis for a little while. It is rumored to be possible to perform a ritual known as the sundering which casts the angels.

The Angels have destroyed every known copy of that ritual.

It appears that they didn't destroy them all, as all 50 Guardian Angels have been sundered simultaneously

Uriel stood up, and ripped the paper work in half.

"You two sort out who gets to be the fluffy Guardian Angles protecting the liddle widdy humans. I'm going to find who did this. And when I do..." Fires formed in his eyes.

He stormed out
