(Minimum TWO full paragraphs - Show us you can play the character)

Are you a returning member? (If you've been part of this forum in the past, please let us know the name you once used if it is different from this one you are using.)

Other Claimed Characters:
(This is important only for members who have already gone through the application process with other characters. Since we use post count to determine how many characters any member can play, we need to know who you are already playing. And who, if any, you are not still wanting to claim.)

To apply for either a canon marvel character or an original, copy the template above into a NEW THREAD and fill it out completely. If it is a Marvel canon, feel free to copy from the Marvel database or Marvel.com. The sample role play will always be your own creation, and will show us your ability to play with us. Please write one for every character and each must be for the character you're applying for.
You WILL need to wait for approval.
The staff reserves the right to ask you to modify your bio or reject it completely. All minimum requirements (paragraph size) on applications are at the discretion of the staff.
(This will most likely happen if you make a character too powerful; something along the lines of a cosmic entity, level 5 [Omega] mutant or anyone like Mimic who can retain more than 5 powers will likely be rejected if not canon.
Remember this is a game and we try to keep the playing field somewhat fair.)

The Application

Read this over to get an idea of what we are looking for in the application.

Title of your Bio: When making your app post, please title it with your character's code name. This is for filing purposes. If they do not have a code name (ex. Jean Grey), or more commonly use their real name (ex Emma Frost) then put their real name. If they are an Original Character (OC), please place "OC" in the title of the app.

Full Name: This is pretty obvious, your characters FULL name. First, middle, and last when applicable. Whether it's secret or not, whether they know it or not, we want to know it.

Super Hero/Villain Name: The code name. The name your character goes by in public while in costume. Especially important if your character wants to hide their identity or if they don't know their own real name.

Gender: I hope you can figure this one out for yourself :P

Age: How old is your character? Be reasonable here, we don't want to see teenagers who are masters of martial arts, unless they have a super power that would allow it for some reason. Remember, it takes time to achieve and learn things, so take that into consideration when you're choosing an age. If your character is canon and you do not know the age, check the Marvel databases &/or give an approximation.

Occupation: Your characters job. Are they a hero to the people, or a villain causing chaos? Do they work for a news paper or construction company? A scientist maybe, or perhaps a politician. Maybe they work as an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. or are just still simply a student in school. Or they could be an unemployed layabout. Whatever it is, we want to know!

Team Affiliation: What team is your character a part of? You can select not being affiliated with any team if you wish, just remember that the government's Avengers, Thunderbolts, and S.H.I.E.L.D. will be looking to arrest you if you do. Be careful to distinguish comic canon and the MCU. Also keep in mind, you are allowed to start a new team or activate a canon team that's currently not in use once you have an accepted character, if you wish. Also remember some teams require your character to have registered with the government.

General Appearance: Pictures are good and acceptable alone, but it always helps to think about this. Height and weight especially, considering this is difficult to tell from a picture. For OC's: If you do not have a picture, please describe them in a paragraph. If you only have a picture of their 'superhero' look, then please describe their real appearance, and vice versa. People want to know what your character looks like!

Personality: This is probably where most people have trouble. Remember to elaborate on things. Don't just say "He's/She's mean and aggressive," or, "He/She is really sweet." Explain how they are these things; why they are like that. Is there anything in particular they like to do when they are in particular moods? Remember, this also covers your character's likes, dislikes, their hopes, dreams, & fears. Anything and everything about them: who they are, how they behave and what they do goes here. Are they religious? Do they like sports? The ballet? Chinese checkers? Cats? Shiny things? Pizza with ice cream on it? You get the idea. This should be two paragraphs at the least.

Also, for canon characters, we know that all the details for their personalities aren't going to be out there for you to find. In the case of that, make them up! Take what you already know about the character and decide what you think would work in the missing areas. Remember that our game takes place in a very similar, but slightly different reality from the comics, so we're not gonna sweat the small stuff.

Super Power: The one you've been waiting for, I'd imagine. :P This is where you tell us about your characters super power! Be very detailed here. Keep in mind that we don't accept characters that are immensely over powered. Give all the details of what the power can and can't do. Remember that the more detail you put into it, the more likely it'll be accepted. Also, it's recommended you decide on a theme of some sort (I.E. Iceman's is ice). This will also also make it more likely it'll be accepted. On the other hand, something we don't wanna see is a character that has as many powers as you thought of cramming into them. That is considered a Mary Sue and is unacceptable. Remember balance! Also original characters will always be weaker then canons. Not all canons at once, mind you, but they will never be power houses on canon level. An example would be if you make a telepath, they will not be anywhere near as powerful as Xavier. Just keep this in mind. Just because there's creative freedom with an OC doesn't mean you can go overboard.

Also when describing your characters powers, be detailed on the limits. We need to know what their maximum limits are, along with any and all weaknesses involved. Strengths have weaknesses! And if the only weakness you can come up with is something like "he has anger issues" then your character is probably too powerful.

Weaknesses: Every power has weaknesses. Every hero and villain has their kryptonite. List anything and everything that you can think of that would compromise our character and keeps them from becoming a Mary Sue.

Note that being as vulnerable to injury as any other human is NOT a weakness. That (say) Colossus can withstand being hit by a truck is a part of his power set. That you'd get hurt by the truck just means you don't have a special power. That being said, some sort of special vulnerability to some particular attack (a character taking extra damage from iron, for instance) is a weakness.

-Power Gained By: Easy one here. How did your character get their powers? Born with it due to mutation? Science experiment gone wrong? Magical powers? However it happened, you tell us here.

-If mutant, what class? Let's explain what each class is.
Alpha - An Alpha level mutant is someone who looks no different from any other human being, and whose powers are pretty effective in combat. Likewise, they have no limitation placed on them as a result of their X-gene.
Beta - Beta level mutants are just like Alphas, but with a catch. While at first glance they can pass for a human being, careful scrutiny reveals they have some strange trait that sets them apart, like an eye color that doesn't generally appear in humans. A Beta mutant can also be someone who passes for human but has some limitation imposed on them because of their power, such as not being able to make skin-to-skin contact.
Gamma - Like Alphas and Betas, Gamma level mutants are pretty handy in combat situations. But as a result of their X-gene, they cannot pass for human without the use of a disguise of some sort.
Delta - Delta Level mutants are those who, like Alphas and Betas, can pass for human at first glance. But unlike Alphas or Betas, their power is not something that is obvious and automatically combative. Their abilities are more subtle, enough so that an outside observer can't actually see the power in use. Delta mutants may go for years not realizing that they are, in fact, mutants, due to the nature of their abilities.
Epsilon - Epsilon level mutants either have a non-combative power or no real powers at all, but are like Gamma level mutants in that they cannot hide what they are.
Omega - These are the people who truly make normal human beings and government agencies afraid. These are mutants whose power levels are such that they are considered the most serious threats, capable of wide-scale destruction and proving very difficult to take down, contain or kill.

*No Omega level mutants are permitted to be created, though most Omega level canon mutants are available for play. For examples of mutants who fall into these classes check the newsarama article these definitions were taken from.

Taken Category: This is only a concern for canon characters. OCs can ignore this line if they want, but it can still be helpful for them to fill it out. We group taken characters into three categories. The first is hero/anti-hero. This is more or less a good guy. The second is villain. This is a bad guy. The third is support. A support character may be good or bad, but they are minor nonpowered characters. For example, Spider-Man would be a hero/anti-hero, Doctor Octopus would be a villain, both Aunt May and J.J. Jameson would be support.

Abilities: This is their non-super powered abilities. Everyday type of skills you or me could learn. Anything from cooking to martial arts. List everything your character has learned to be skilled at. Remember to be reasonable about it.

Weapons: Any and all weapons your character has at their disposal. Be detailed. We need to know what they can do and any flaws about them.

Brief History: Your characters history is important because it is what defines who they are. Everybody has a past, we want to know what your character's is! Be detailed. Think of how and where they were educated. If they have a power, how did they get it, when did they discover it? Put in the significant moments, and maybe even a few insignificant ones. This should be two to three paragraphs minimum. Also, consider your characters age and be realistic.

Other Information: Anything else about your character that you haven't mentioned yet. Or any other things you might like to add.

Sample Role Play
Not much I can do to help you here, this is pretty much all you. Keep in mind that it has to be in third person and about the character you're applying for. Also remember that you need a new sample RP for every character you apply for. This is so we know how you will play that particular character. Also keep in mind we want it to be a good two paragraphs at barest minimum. The word limit is about 200 words. This isn't difficult to do, just remember to be detailed! People don't walk into a room and think nothing. They tend to take in everything in their environment and have opinions about everything. Don't just make one to fill the minimum requirement, show us what you can do with the character and your imagination. :)

Are you a returning member? If you've been part of this forum in the past, please let us know the name you once used if it is different from this one you are using. That way if you plan to reclaim any OCs or canons whom you one applied for then we will be anticipating it and you may have fewer hoops to jump through to prove your identity. It is NOT intended for players who have never left and who are applying for another character. THIS IS NOT INTENDED FOR CURRENT PLAYERS WHO ARE MAKING A SECOND+ CHARACTER. IT IS FOR PLAYERS WHO LEFT AND CAME BACK. IT IS USED TO DETERMINE IF YOU SHOULD BE PLACED ON PROBATION OR NOT.

Other Claimed Characters:
This is important only for members who have already gone through the application process with other characters. Since we use post count to determine how many characters any member can play, we need to know who you are already playing. And who, if any, you are not still wanting to claim. Please only claim characters who have COMPLETED the application process (eg they have full applications AND have been accepted)

[div align="center"]RICK JONES
[/div]

Full Name: Richard Milhouse "Rick" Jones

Super Hero/Villain Name: Troubler
Gender: Male
Age: Mid to Late 20s
Occupation: Adventurer
Team Affiliation: None Currently

[div align="center"][/div]
General Appearance: (Use a picture or write it out. If you write it, put at least one paragraph describing what they look like. Face, build, height, weight, clothes. All of these are good to know.)

Personality: (2 paragraphs please explaining their likes, dislikes, type of attitude they have, and overall who they are. Do not copy and paste this from somewhere else. Write it yourself, please.)

[div align="center"][/div]
(ex. Spontaneous Regeneration. Explain their limits in great detail, especially for OCs)

Weaknesses: Rick has been known on more than one occasion to exhibit rash behavior. This likely stems from his youth, always feeling like an outcast, and feeling the need to prove himself to others. Rick may continue to exhibit rash behavior due to these reasons, and also possibly because he has a side to himself that is sort of an adrenaline junkie.

-Power Gained By: The Destiny Force

Taken Category: Hero

Abilities: Expert acrobat and hand to hand combatant
Self-taught folk and rock n' roll singer and guitarist
Expert in technology and security hacking
Utilizes high-tech equipment and weapons

Weapons: Battle Batons. As Troubler, Rick wields a pair of metal battle batons that are similar to those used by Avengers and their associates.

[div align="center"][/div]

Rick Jones. Rock Star. Best selling author. Talk show host. Whatever the reason is that people know him, they know him. His face has been broadcast via television and internet on screens all over the world. For many, it feels like Rick Jones has always been a part of their "local" news.

And for good cause. Rick Jones may be one of the most influential people in the planet. Not because of money. Not because of fame. Because of...destiny.

Without Rick Jones, there would be no Hulk. Without Rick Jones, there would be no Avengers. Without Rick Jones, there may not even be a planet Earth. After it had been destroyed by the space aliens in the Kree-Skrull War.

After playing a part in the birth of the Incredible Hulk, Jones also helped give birth to the Avengers by sending out the radio broadcast that united the heroes to stop the gamma goliath during one of his epic rampages. Jones, life long orphan, would finally be adopted. By the superhero community itself.

Jones would tag along with the Hulk, and by extension, the Avengers on numerous occasions. Trained by Captain America himself, Jones even took on the role of Bucky for a time. That, and his other adventures would earn him the nickname of the "ultimate sidekick."

But Rick Jones was more than a sidekick, he was more of a partner. And thanks to continued training and experience alongside cosmic level heroes Mar Vell and Genis Vell, Jones would get to play the part of hero in his own right. And this wouldn't be the last time. Jones would even fill in for the Hulk on occassion, and experience his own gamma ray induced super powers.

How could one young man play such an important role? The Destiny Force, a power that would manifest in Rick Jones time and time again. Each time his life seemed to take a different and more "normal" direction, the Destiny Force would place Rick Jones right in the middle of the superhero community, often in a pivotal role.

Once again, the Destiny Force is tugging at Rick Jones. But this time, he can feel it. And rather than just let himself be swept along, Rick plans to direct the force for his own purposes. Maybe the ultimate sidekick will get his chance to finally become the hero he was always destined to be.
