Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

aaaand back. That new workplace has rpol blacklisted for some reason. It also has drug information sites blacklisted as well... funny, a doctor not being allowed to access drug information from inside a hospital... And trying to get gonadal hormone level references results in the firewall stopping you as well - it thinks one is looking for pornography. lol. Those IT guys need some adjustment. With a handaxe.

Anyways. Will try to update asap.

Dwarves have no need for no stinkin' hormones. Their gonadals are draggin' the ground, as it is . . .

And yes, welcome back!

Come on, I'll bet if your beard was getting thin you'd be running off to the doctor to get some supplements :)

Dwarves' beards *never* get thin. It goes against the very Laws of Nature. :)

In reply to GM (msg # 523):

"It was for work! I swear!"

But seriously though that sounds annoying. "Professional" jobs like Doctors, Lawers, and Engineers usually don't bother with that stuff, especially if it's work related. It's not like you need to be micromanaged like that...defenitely bother the IT guys about that.

Well, let me just say that we are being managed by guys who think that we work better while annoyed.

Where's "Punch" when you need it? Sounds like that lot needs a good lampooning. :)

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

IT would only be a move action to go through the window, right? Or would it be an action unless I take an athletics/acrobatics check maybe?

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

It's a move action - an open window counts as difficult terrain here. You get to do other things too.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

Would an 'animal handling' skill roll be appropriate for trying to tame and train kobolds?

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

In reply to Faire (msg # 540):

Diplomacy didn't make the cut in 5e. leadership didn't either.  Persuasion and Intimidation seems to be the best bets, from the few choices allowed. For kobolds, I'd guess Intimidation. There's a reason it's a skill for half orcs. If orcs use it to make friends and influence people, I'd guess kobolds do.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

You'd need a long rest to level up, if you have the xp.

Update probably due tomorrow. This week looks good for frequent posting from my side.

In reply to Caine (msg # 541):

Isn't Diplomacy just a form of Persuasion? You are getting people to do what you want through negotiation and reasoning.

In reply to Librand Silver-Eyes (msg # 543):

A subset, likely. They went fairly minimal for skills in 5e. Persuasion is a catch all for any merchant, diplomat, fast talk, etc, activity.

Leadership is something of a hole, however. Neither Persuade nor Intimidate work well for it, but using raw Charisma doesn't allow for proficiency bonuses. Military Rank, from the Soldier background is the closest thing I can find. And that only works on military types.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

To the contrary, I would suggest that either skill could be used in the capacity of leadership depending on if one leads through fear or trust. Influencing a group rather than an individual would likely prove more challenging indicating a higher DC or perhaps some sort of modifier or Disadvantage (or combination of the three) on the test. But it still seems like a viable use of he skills.

Of course, I am not the GM. Their call on the matter is the only one of an importance.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

I think I might be on the right track with animal handling, as that skill would entail knowledge on training, control and instruction. The closest other one would be survival.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

"Animal Handling" the Kobolds? I know they are depicted as a bit dim, but Animal handling seems specifically geared towards controlling domesticated (PHB is specific about that, to my surprize) creatures of sub-humanoid intelligence. I think because they are able to reason and rationalize trying to get a kobold to do something like you would, say, a dog would just be intimidation. "Do what I tell you or you'll get punished"
