Quick question. Did my investigation roll reveal anything inside of the vault like any sorts of tunnels? Or just the vault itself? Would I need to make another? ...Or should I even bother?

I make secret rolls when such things are required. If you make one in advance, it's also fine. However in the current situation, there are no further tunnels from the mini-vault.

I'd like a slight bit more context, what is our exact relationship with the guards and the army in this scenario?

I believe I outlined everything in the background thread. What guards are in New Phlan are von Urslingen's followers. You are mercenaries. There's no other organized military force in New Phlan.

There are several churches in New Phlan. Braccio is the Bishop of Tyr's church. I wrote something about him in the background, near the bottom - he isn't nobl-ish at all.

As for an outreach kind of thing... hmm. There's the public kitchen at the docks.

Serious question, actually, as I have no idea how to do it at my end, but you told me not to forget to.

A guard counts them at the deposit bin. Then they are cooked and the skulls sold to dwarves.

It's actually a very common practice in warfare! The Mongols were known to do it almost obsessively (to the point that they made huge skull pyramids sometimes), some Gallic tribes judged your worth by your severed head and skull collection, and US Marines were known to make skull trophies in WW2. It's been a popular practice for quite some time now.

nb: there's no sewer system in Phlan. They'll get around to building it eventually :D

Damn, now I have the idea for a character whose ambition it is to build huge sewer systems for sanitation and monster (re)habilitation beneath all the major cities in a kingdom.
