Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

Writing a novel and not getting picked hurts more than creating a character and not bonding with it. Which I find rare anyway, most of my characters I will eventually find a way to connect to it.

I can imagine it's not great when a character you've put a lot of time and effort into doesn't get picked, sure. On the flipside, I'm fairly certain that every game I've applied for and put some effort into, I've been accepted into. The games I've looked at, said to myself "that looks interesting, but I'll just do a quickie RTJ", are the ones that I don't get chosen for. Coincidence, perhaps, but that's my experience.

Well definitely have differing experiences.

Also, I like writing character backgrounds. Often more than I like actually playing those characters!

Just my 2 CP, but that right there is why I think the games that have a super detailed RTJ process fail.

That aside, are we a go for just doing a big social scene in the barracks? If so, I'm ready to run with that?

Well only a few people have actually responded, unfortunately I think that means only a small number of people are actually still in this game.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm thinking of starting another 5e game where players are gonna have a heavy hand in world building. If anyone is interested, PM me or look for the eventual Wanted Player thread by GammaBear.

You could well be right!

On the subject of a new game, I might be interested if this one gets buried. I prefer to keep a limited number of active games.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

Might be interested for certain. As far as games failing goes, I've found that games using D&d in particular seem to fail...which is strange seeing that they attract players so often. I've been on both sides of the fence numerous times as far as game failures go, and it's kind of strange. Sometimes the GM just disappears, and other times it's really the player's fault for just kind of stopping posting. It's an issue that's really common with online gaming unfortunately.

Cool. I'm pulling a 12 hour shift today, so I'll have lots of time to work on stuff. I'll post here when the thread gets together.

Just as an aside, since my Skull & Shackles game has been going so well, I've been wanting to do a 5e Pirate game too. Would that be something you all would be interested in, or would you prefer a typical land-based game?

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

Pirates are always fun. Somewhat in vogue at the moment since the new 7th Age kickstarter got announced. Depends on the type of campaign though. I'd prefer to be more "sea adventurers" than true, looting pirates though.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

link to another game

There's the link so we can discuss things for now. There's no RTJ at the moment so when you request access just tell me who you are here and I'll let you in.

Oh, and you have to know the super secret password.

It's bacon.

I'm not sure if I have another game in me. I'm going to walk away from rpol.net as I can't get a reliable game.

Last call here for refugees from here for the 5e game I'm running.

It's going to be a home brewed nautical campaign and founding members will have a hand in creating history.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

"Mature" is enough to worry about anything but sex scenes. You only need an "Adult" rating if you're going to knock virtual boots. It's for Sex Games.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

That's technically a misconception...according to the official RPoL rules "Mature" Games can't have anything that you can't have in a general game. Granted, most players don't necessarily care about that.

In reply to Faire (msg # 766):

I've been known to swear in table top games, if appropriate. But then, I learned to play in the Navy: We didn't call it "swearing", we called it "talking".

In my experience "Mature" just means swearing. After all, the violence level in "Immature" games is usually worse than mature ones. All that leaves for a difference is sex. Or a disturbed sort that gets a bit TOO graphic in discussing dismembered bodes, in which case, it's not the game rating you have to worry about.

Re: OOC Lounge, Bar & Grill

I've said before I have Adult ratings because I want to avoid any and all complications with the material I run. Whatever hang ups you have with verifying your age with the site is yours to deal with. I will not change my rating and risk getting in to trouble with the owners.
