What if that option generated double max damage?

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

Depends on what you want. You might also go with 1-3 (2x max), 4-5 (3x max), 6 (4x max) after confirming the crit.

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

For triple damage you would at least need three die rolls, a twenty, then what, two hits?

Vanv:
From a player perspective, I'd always take Max Damage x1 vs Random Damage x2. :)

I agree with this.

In reply to Leonam (msg # 220):

The max damage also doesn’t change the dynamics of the game like double damage can.

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

I think we will go with the double damage then, but only on a natural twenty, not a modified one.

excellent decision!
I like double damage, even if it isn't maxed.
No particular reason why, I just do.

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

Dammit, I said it wrong, most people seemed to want max damage and that is what I meant to say. Now we need to discuss it some more...

In reply to Ruddley (msg # 224):

Excellent decision...wait I already said that.
I'll go either way.  I prefer double damage, but really it doesn't matter.  Max vs double at least we did more damage!!
Your decision I will stand behind!

I am okay with max damage, there seems to be a consensus :)

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

Okay, a natural twenty will be max damage, but for the players only.

Consider if you, an extension?

If a spell caster is using a spell that delivers direct damage, they call roll a d20, as well. A twenty will be max damage for that spell as well, any other number (including one) will have no impact.

Thoughts?

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

IMO, the boost to magic with bonus spells and not having to memorize them is already a huge advantage.  I don’t think spell casters need more.

Re: OOC - 5/21/2020

Maybe on a nat 20, you can decide for max damage or some kind of combat trick, like cutting their holy symbol from their neck or trip them.

In reply to The Twins (msg # 228):

I do like the casters advantage with spells...but agree with one of the Twins.  Max damage for a spell might be too much power.

A cool trick is always a welcome bonus, though!

In reply to Ruddley (msg # 233):

Fighting in a panic, the pole-arm wielding Gnoll lashes out, striking Leonam roughly about the head and shoulders, sending his unconscious spilling backwards on to the floor. It was a futile effort, however as blows from all directions slashed, bashed and stabbed his body into a mangled heap.

Question...Did the gnoll go down or did or did Leonam?

I'd like the answer to this, too, as it affects what I might do.

Wow, that really is unclear isn't it, my bad. But yes, Vanv caught the drift, Leonam went down first, the everyone else joined in in the slaughter of that Gnoll, even Arog got a stab in!

Sorry, but yes. Things should be over this round though, maybe one more. There is plenty of healing power in the party.
