Los Angeles
The limo rolled to a stop and you can hear the driver get out and walk over to the passenger door. When he opens it, you can tell that you're in an alley somewhere. The nearby streets sound rather busy.

"Minor detail," said Polly.  "This is why I have a smart phone.  Where do we want to start?  There's a record store I want to hit, there are all kinds of restaurants, there's lots of other shopping, or we could just look around... Also, the sky isn't actually made of plastic.  It just looks that way."

It wasn't much of a walk before you found yourself standing before Amoeba Music. It was certainly a massive store, warehouse sized with shelves and shelves as far as the eye can see.

"Nope!" said Polly, cheerfully.  "Look again-- this place doesn't just have vinyl.  They sell tapes, 8-tracks, CDs-- everything.  They even sell movies and posters and things like that!  And over there to our left is a big wall where bands advertise for new members... notice that they mostly need drummers."

"Two things," said Polly.  "One is that you can totally sing or play guitar without a band to practice with, but drumming on your own is kind of limited.  The other thing is that you can buy a guitar for like twenty bucks if you shop around, but you aren't going to find a drum kit for less than maybe two hundred.  I went to a punk show once where five bands were sharing one set of drums.  So, not so many drummers out there."

The movie, it could be said, had a crazy plot.

Insofar as there was a plot.

Granted, the saga of the Dog Clan gaining revenge on those who had wronged them... without realizing that they were doing it... or fully realizing that they'd been wronged... could be said to have a story.  The saga of a clutzy ninja charming the princess of a rival clan and stealing her from her fiance through pure heart... without knowing it... could be a subplot.

But mostly it was an endless sequence of beautifully timed acrobatic farce.  For 93 minutes.

Re: Los Angeles
Polly arrived at the sign.

She didn't have to climb it at all.  Jo was more athletic, and would probably be a better climber... but Polly could run on air.  She could simply be at the top of the sign.

...But that would be cheating.  This time.

She made a game attempt, but the sign was not really meant to be climbed.
