Re: Los Angeles
"Yeah, it's fine if you don't climb, Kendra," said Polly.  "You can watch and cheer us on!  And Jo, ready, set, GO!"

She took off for the sign at top speed, feet literally never touching the ground.

Re: Los Angeles
Polly arrived at the sign.

She didn't have to climb it at all.  Jo was more athletic, and would probably be a better climber... but Polly could run on air.  She could simply be at the top of the sign.

...But that would be cheating.  This time.

She made a game attempt, but the sign was not really meant to be climbed.

Re: Los Angeles
It may not have been, but Jo was certainly doing it. It wasn't exactly at an amazing speed, but she was clearly making steady progress.

Re: Los Angeles
"Can't beat you if I play fair!" said Polly.  "So this is cheating, OK?"

She ran on the air to keep pace with Jo.

"Bah, cheat all you want. I can still beat you," Jo said as she increased her pace.

Re: Los Angeles
"Probably," agreed Polly.  "And I'm cheating, so it doesn't actually count."  She continued to follow Jo up the sign.

And with that, the sun set. A small breeze started up. You can almost hear a voice on the wind.

"Leave."

"You're kidding, right?" said Polly.  "The sun shines brightly on the fields where farmers grow their cops.  Humanity is foolish here, awaiting punishment, even more than usual.  How is this not my place?"

Re: Los Angeles
"Oh," said Polly.  "Wow.  I actually thought you really sold the role in Thirteen Women, but it's a shame what Hollywood did to the script and characters compared to the book.  Hey, is there any way that I can get an autograph?  Oh, Jo?  This is the ghost of legendary Broadway and Hollywood actress Peg Entwistle, who died here by jumping off the 'H'."

"Aw, that's a shame, Peg," said Polly.  "Are you sure you don't want some company?  I mean, it's got to be lonely, being a ghost all the way out here."
