Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
Polly went first to the house Kendra's friend lived in.  Why not?  If she was going to be awkward, she might as well dive right in.  She tried for unlocked doors and windows first; actual breaking would be the next step.

Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
The front door was unlocked and opened into what appeared to be a clean, unremarkable one story house.

Polly swiftly checked the house for any signs of whether or not the residents had, say, perished, or abruptly vanished mid-meal, or whatever.

Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
There wasn't any pots on the stove or anything like that, but there also wasn't a mess or any kind signs of a struggle.

Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
Polly emerged, shaking her head.

"No sign of anyone or anything," she said.  "Is there anywhere near here where everybody could have gone?  The sea's clear, right?"

Polly followed.  People had been disappearing-- no point in taking chances by letting Kendra go off alone.

Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
You find her standing in the living room of the house.

"This is weird, this isn't how we left it at all!"

Re: A Small Village in Lemnos
Near an empty bookcase, you notice an odd clump of shadows that really shouldn't be there.

"Not so fast!" said Polly.  She shifted to the door and raised her scythe menacingly.

"Trust me, Shadow Buddy.  This blade can cut you, and you'll die."

Polly danced in front of it, calling "Block the door!" to her companion.

She stood in front of the window.

"Last chance, Shadow.  Talk.  Or I cut."

"Yes?" it said.

"Okay," said Polly, suddenly agreeable.  "Well, I wouldn't want you to get in trouble.  But I would like to know... hey, I know!  Why don't you take me to your master, and I'll ask him?  That way, you won't have to worry about it at all!"

"You have good idea!" the shadow said. "Follow, follow!"

It headed out of the house and headed towards the edge of the village.
