Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

As Harald and Zog wound the troll and Zog fells the last cambion, Nemeroff moves up and slices the snake. It tries to retaliate with a word of power, which triggers a quick response from Nemeroff, scraping it further. The magical pain from this wound distracts the snake and disrupts its spell. It hisses angrily at the shadar-kai!

Snake tries a burst 3 attack and would've hit but for Nemeroff's MBA, which hits for 23 hp and gives the snake a -8 penalty to hit, causing it to miss.

Agon is up!

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The battlefield had been moving away from Agon, and he found himself a little far from Harald and Nemeroff to come to their aid. But not too far - few things were out of reach of an Arcane Wayfarer.

"I've got you Harald" he called over the sounds of battle.

Move Action : teleport 4 squares
Standard Action : Hammerfall Step (blast 5) to include Harald and the troll.
40*(+2 if still he's immobilized) vs Troll (Fortitude)
Hit : 21 damage and teleport the troll 3 squares down river
Effect : teleport Harald out of the water
Status : +2 item bonus to AC and Reflex until start of my next turn (amulet)

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The troll, reeling from the remarkable blasts that have taken him nigh the edge of consciousness, nevertheless retaliates, swinging at the dwarf almost madly. Its several nasty wounds are visibly beginning to close...

Troll rolls a nat 1 attacking Harald. It moves up to get close to Harald.

Nemeroff, Gromley, Harald and Zog are up!

In reply to EpicOne (msg # 241):

Despite the wounds and the wooziness, suddenly the troll looks at the snake woman. It is filled with rage, wanders into the deep waters, and smashes her in the back of the head. Screaming and ranting incoherently.

(OOC-Using Betrayal on troll. Hitting, and making it move 'down river' as on map. It is still within reach of snake, and it will do a basic melee attack with +12 to hit and on damage.

14:43, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 42 using 1d20+25 with rolls of 17. Betrayal vs will-Troll, 2 psi pts.

14:46, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 38 using 2d10+19 with rolls of 10,9. Troll damage vs snake.

Hits snake. Snake takes 38 damage and is dazed until end of Gromley's next turn. Troll is in deep water...if that makes a difference to it.)

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Zog's eyebrow shoots up. "Well-played, gnome. Assuming that was your doing. Wherever the heck you are."

Zog strides up and, for the first time since the party has met him, his hand ceases crackling with electrical energy.  A small, red ball appears in his palm; with an almost dismissive action he flings this little ball to a spot between the naga and the troll. It explodes in a blast of white-hot flame that lingers as a corona of fire...

Move up to current location
STANDARD: Ignition, hits Fort 43 on troll for 38 hp and Fort 36 on naga for 38 hp, fire damage.  Creates a zone--any creature that enters the zone or finishes its turn there takes 6 fire damage.

Troll is dead. Snake-woman is bloodied after all that.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

The much-put-upon naga hisses and sings a pretty song. Harald starts swaying for a moment, momentarily entranced by the song. Nemeroff, not nearly so weak-minded, shifts up and attacks the snake-woman, and gets another attack as it slips into the water and tries to make an escape…

The dazed naga does a close burst 5 that hits Harald and misses Zog & Nemeroff. Harald is dazed (save ends). Nemeroff can shift and make an attack--if he hits, the penalty applies to the attack roll made against Nemeroff, so it would have no effect this round.

The snake takes its action point and moves away, which provokes an OA from Nemeroff. It then swims/takes the current to location on map.

All the PCs are up! Agon gets priority in order of actions as he was technically up next but anyone can post their action--if you aren't Agon, assume you're acting after Agon.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Harald swayed gently as a hissing melody played through his head.  Vaguely he noticed move away and equally vaguely he knew he should do something about it…if he only knew what!

In the dim recesses of his mind a power called to him – ‘Use me’ it seemed to say.

He wasn’t sure who or what it was but it seemed insistent – so he used it.

“Come awa’ o’er here ye big eejit!"  He yelled waving his axe.

And to his surprise the snake responded.  It slid through the water and onto the land, once more entering the flaming zone adjacent to the dwarf.

Almost absentmindedly he swung his axe, cleaving into the scaly hide.

Re: Chapter 1: The Land of Betrayal

Executing the "pound the snot out of the naga" maneuver expertly, the party combines to drive the life out of the snake woman with a dizzying array of attack as her flight is thwarted by Gromley's mind-trick.

The group finds a few odd things in nest of the naga on the far side, mostly bones of various humanoids and a chest. The party gets the chest open fairly easily and finds that it contains three platinum rings with inset diamonds (worth 7,500 gp each), seven 5000 gp jacinths, three golden monkey statuettes (worth 10,000 gp each), one 5000 gp ruby, three vials of an unidentified liquid that detects as pretty potent magic and 2,500 gp

What do you all do now? You can take a short rest with no difficulty, and you can choose the left or the right passageway to follow after you leave.

The right passageway is a bit trickier to work with as it is covered in 4' deep water.

The group moves further into this cave complex. They come up on a room soon. This room has a high, vaulted ceiling, and luminous lichen in the upper reaches illuminate crystalline stalactites, some more than five feet in diameter, hanging from the ceiling. The stalactites seem to catch and hold the light, glowing from within.

Before you and to the left is a cliff that rises about 30 feet along the left wall and 60 feet straight ahead of you, To the right is the lip of a clifftop. From your vantage point at the entrance, you can’t see how far down it goes.

You all hear movement within the room.
