Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Gromley tries to take control of one of his foes to sick them on the other. Only then does the massive creature returns-smashing down from a warp portal in the air.

OOC-Using Sudden control on E.

12:43, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 43 using 1d20+26 with rolls of 17.  Sudden control vs Will on E.

E will move, land, and attack 8-with +12 to hit and on damage.

X will return to any space I can see-so I will choose to drop him from a height if possible.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

The suddenly mind-controlled silver dragonborn mercilessly cuts down the remaining legion devil. A second later, the commanding devil returns from oblivion, the smoke from his defeated minions and the corpses of his dragonborn minions lying about him. Suspended in midair, he uses his massive wings to land comfortably as he is dropped by Gromley. He roars in visible anger as Zog’s magic hits him and the dragonborn with a flash of lightning. He utters a word of power and suddenly he appears in the midst of his enemies; his dragonborn ally appears on the spot where the devil was a moment before. The big devil casts a glance at Sonliin, making it  clear the big devil will do his best to slay him, and stabs his massive trident at the warrior, but his blow glances off of Sonliin’s armor.

E takes out 8 easily under Gromley’s control. X reappears; both X and E take their damage from Zog. X does not fall because he has a fly speed; he lands on the ground undamaged. X uses Benign Transposition to change places with E; he marks Sonliin as a minor action and then attacks Sonliin, missing. X makes his save vs. ongoing thunder.

Martha and Sonliin are up!

Well time to send you on a quick trip to some dimensions with stops at the plane of heavenly light, my home plane of electricity for some thunder and lighting, and to finish it off with a dip in the swamps of Greiza for a quick acid bath. You will have us all to yourself when you get back. Bye-Bye." sonliin said as the spell sent the devil away for a bit.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Martha’s blow cracks the devil’s chitinous skin, drawing a bit of black blood. The devil looks like he’s going to say something snarky when Sonliin sends him away yet again.

The invisible devil reappears a ways away from Harald and Agon; he lobs a shadow-net that ensnares Harald and Agon in its cloying, weakening tendrils…

Martha and Sonliin both hits; X is off the map—again :-)

A moves to current location and drops an area 2 burst on Agon and Harald, hitting both; both are restrained, weakened and take ongoing 10 necrotic damage.

Agon, Darratheir and Harald are up! Agon, if you want to use one of your interrupts to get away from the attack, let me know. The update below assumes you were caught.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Harald winced as the damage from the devil sank into his bones.  But it was minimal damage.  More important was the fact that he could not move.  With a supreme effort he burst free of the effect and raced forward.  Realising he could not reach the devil he leapt to the next roof and threw his hammer.

What a throw!  The hammer crashed home, doing terrible damage before flying back to Harald’s ready grasp.

“Just stay there a wee minute.  Ah’ll be over tae finish ye aff in just a tick.”

Take 10 necrotic damage.
No action: Ignore Weakness (Encounter);  Save vs immobilized and weakened at +5.
Move: As per map, leaping gap between buildings.

23:49, Today: Ignore Weakness: Harald rolled 17 using 1d20.
Saved at +5 agains the immobilization and weakening.

23:51, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 48 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 19.  Thrown hammer vs A.  (CRIT!)

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Harald slays the last assassin devil as Agon and Darratheir prepare their attacks.

The remaining silver dragonborn soars into the air; he hovers next to Harald and stabs the warrior with his spear. He then vanishes and appears next to Agon; he takes magic missiles from Agon before he stabs the wizard as well.

E flies next to Harald, hits him for 19 hp and ongoing 10 radiant damage; E then teleports next to Agon, taking the magic missile hit from Agon before hitting Agon back, ironically, for 17 hp and 10 ongoing radiant damage (save ends)

Gromley and Zog are up! Darratheir, your ready is still active for the moment.

Gromley projects his awareness to the roof, and tries to take control of the seeming last foe. However, it seems unlikely he could make mental contact.

OOC-Move action-moving projected awareness to roof.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

The remaining dragonborn looks alarmed as he flies up to Harald. Before the dwarf can react, however, Zog’s outburst takes down the dragonborn in a flurry of lightning as the lead devil returns, watching his allies dead or gone around him and taking a bolt from Zog in the process.

He looks at Sonliin and Martha. "You are far more powerful than we were briefed. I will report this as part of my failure." He stabs viciously at Sonliin, almost out of spite, and snarls when Sonliin's magical protection prevent him from doing more than knocking Sonliin down.

Zog, I adjusted your movement so you could, in fact, target E after Gromley’s move. You take him down—I assume from your IC context that you leave him alive. X remains alive, improbably.

X crits Sonliin for 25 hp and 5 ongoing (save ends); Sonliin is knocked prone.

'A fitting end Harald'. Martha wipes blood from her hands and face with a cloth. 'Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? None of us would have survived this ambush alone - but together we were unstoppable! This is fate!'

Martha's delighted.

'We're basicly a family now. I'm a mother figure and you four are - for all effects and purposes - child-type-figures' she announces, using the same cloth to wipe the blood off her dress and boots. 'In any case, moving swiftly onwards, who thinks this encounter has reveled that Asmodeus has joined forces with Tiamat to take advantage of Bahamut's death?'.

She passes the cloth to Harald. 'I think you have some blood on your face. There'. She indicates Harald's entire face.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Gromley blinked a few times, shrugged at his new 'family', which where certainly more reliable than his real family. As long as they keep me from getting attacked...he thought. He proceeded to recline on his floating disk, adjusting his pillowed throne, and fetched a book to read while the others decided on what to do.

"So what is the next step?" He asked, adjusting his glasses and looking around at the others. Once his chapter was finished of course.

Not the kind of people to wipe blood - it was a good addition to his already frightening appearance, Darratheir nonetheless cleaned his face and his blade. He wasn't sure if they were a family as Martha suggested but he could admit that they were all great fighters and it was a pleasure to brawl with them.

When Gromley asked what they should do next, he answered. "I guess we are still goinf to the bastion. And we should quicken because we might find another welcoming committee."

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Zog staggers back a bit and surveys the scene. He whirls about for a moment and then takes a deep breath. "How did these servants of Hell end up crashing into this plane? Does this strike anyone else as odd?"

He looks about a bit as the party moves on to the Bastion for the angels here who clearly were neglecting their duty to complain to them about this horrid breach in security.

On to the Bastion. But seriously am looking for local security to look into what went wrong.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Zog was right. The basic powers of the gods should have been enough to keep devils from running amuck in the streets. Agon knelt by the corpse of the leader, rapidly melting away. If they had more time, he would attempt to find the breach, but for now they had other jobs.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Harald wiped the hellish gunk from the edge of his axe.

"Aye!  Right enough.  How did they besoms get in here sae easily."

He laughed.  "Havin' said that, maybe there wiz anither 50 or 60 o' them an' they got melted trying tae get in.  They must hae known that this few devils widnae bother us.  Jist a wee bump in the road"

He stopped laughing abruptly. "But maybe that wiz the point.  Were these omadauns just a distraction?"

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Matha nods. 'I agree Zog, these devils should not have been able to enter this plane normally. Asmodeus is taking advantage of the absence of Bahamut to extend his influence in concert - or so he thinks - with Tiamat. He is also presumably taking advantage of the fact that Pelor, Ioun and Erathis are having a conference somewhere else. Of all the times to have a meeting!' Martha scowls.

'That'a good point Harald. Either its a distraction, or Asmodeus is getting an idea of how powerful we are. He might want to get an idea of the strength of the forces coalescing against him and the Slimy Scaly One.'

'Now he knows', she grimaces, punching a wrinkly fist into her other hand with a satisfying crunch. 'It may give him pause and make him reconsider his alliance.'

"It means that we had better work on getting the Bone Arrow quickly so we can put an end to this." Sonliin said. "Not sure what goes on in the mind of divine beings but the platoon of Devils that we just sent back home might give Asmodeus an excuse to not support her plans."
