Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

In reply to EpicOne (msg # 312):

Gromley once again sends out his projected awareness, and from it-not him-comes the fire that burns both eyes and mind. Hopefully that would keep the huge thing from seeing any of them for a time...

OOC-Minor action-creates projected awareness

Standard action-Mind fire, doing fire damage, and the titan is blinded until end of my next turn

13:55, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 21 using 2d8+12 with rolls of 5,4.  Mindfire damage- fire, also blinds titan until end of G's next turn.
13:53, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 42 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 13.  Mindfire with 6 Psi points. Vs will. I will spend a bennie if that misses.
13:50, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 38 using 1d20+26 with rolls of 12.  Arcana roll.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

OK.  Complicated move.

“Wow!  He looks like a biggie!”

Harald was very impressed by the size and might of their opponent and so he decided to go all out against this chappie.  He used the power of his Cloak and of his Golden Ring to boost his defences before charging, headlong, at the titan.

Smashing his axe into the creatures side he was able, somehow to shift the brute a pace or two to the right.

“That's the biscuit” he chortled, before whacking once more and knocking the creature to the ground some distance away.  "Now you just concentrate on me me-laddo, while ma wee pals beat the shite outa ye."

Move 5 squares
Action:  Minotaur charge (4 squares) - Crit!  44 damage + 20 ongoing (save ends)
Push one square and follow up.
(Critical Hardening: I scored a crit with a weapon and so gain resist 10 till end omnt.)
Secondary attack 46 vs Fort; Push 3 squares and titan is prone.
Combat Challenge on Titan

Cloak of Displacement +4
At encounter start I gain +2 item bonus to AC and Reflex until an attack against either of these defences hits me.

Golden Ring of Toros gives +2 to AC and Fort when not bloodied.
i.e. with both active Harald has AC42, Ref 35 and Fort 42

If the titan hits me I will use the interrupt power of the cloak to make him reroll and the power of the ring to give me +5 to my next attack and resist 5 to all damage till bloodied or encounter end.

19:08, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 46 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 17.  reroll.19:08, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 34 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 5.  reroll.19:08, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 30 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 1.  Secondary attack.19:02, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 51 using 1d20+31 with rolls of 20.  Charge attack vs titan.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Martha is not about to let Harald face this titan alone. Unafraid despite its size, she strides forward and roars at it, a deep gutteral roar from deep in her belly. Her blade flashes with her radiant energy and when it connects with the titan a distant bell chimes somewhere far away and the titan's flesh is seared and lit with a blinding light. The bell keeps tolling, and Martha stares into the brightness of her wound, her words echoing with the tolls.

'The bell chimes for you titan. We come for the seal. It will be broken'.

Move: move 5 north adjacent to pushed titan trying to stay away from walls of water as much as possible.
Free: Scabbard of Sacred Might: weapon gets radiant keyword on next attack (free item power)
Standard: Holy Wrath vs Titan (+2 CA blinded; Guidance of the Past; rad dmgx2)
CRIT: 49 (edited) radiant dmg, powers up healing word; can't hide eont and surrounded by light +1 to hit with radiant powers eont; titan glows brightly and is illuminated by bright light, can't become invisible or concealed and takes 3d6 radiant damage at the end of his turn (save ends).
Effect: Martha gains regeneration 10 eoe while bloodied & +2 atk rolls eoe
Free: Immortal Curse vs Titan.
Minor: Oath of Enmity vs Titan

20:25, Today: Martha rolled 39,45,12,18 using d20+25,d20+25,4d4+5,4d4+5 with rolls of 14,20,1,3,2,1,3,3,4,3.  Holy Wrath vs Titan (+2 CA blinded; use Guidance of the Past; rad dmgx2).
20:33, Today: Martha rolled 24 using 7d6 with rolls of 3,5,3,2,5,3,3.  extra critical damage (seems a bit much?).

Agon kept his more powerful abilities in reserve, waiting to see how the titan would respond to Harald's assault. This thing had an ancient bag of tricks, and he wanted to force it to burn through as many of them as possible. He laid a hand on the nearby stone "What secrets do you have?"

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

As Harald started to run in the melee and while Agon and Martha where doing there stuff, Darrathier took a short moment to focus on his large blade, transferring a part of his spirit inside it to give it more power. This done, the Barbarian called out at the Dwarf. "Hey, Harald ! Don't think I will let you take all the fun !"

The Dragonborn had barely finished its sentence that he put his blade in position along his left arm and he whispered to it : "Let's go, Guyya." Then, in the blink of an eye, he put all his strength to charge at the gigantic enemy that was facing them. As he was running, a spiritual trail with the shape of a bear was following his blade as if it was inhabited by his old companion and at the end of his course, he delivered a brutal blow to the titan. "Don't forget to look here too !" he finally yelled at the creature, trying to split his attention.

Minor Action: Heart Strike (Stance) -> +5 damage whenever I use an At-Will attack power
Standard Action: Charge vs Titan with Howling Strike -> 50 vs AC for 50 damage
Note: Guyya is the name he gave to the bear he met long ago.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Zog, impressed by the sight of the titan, gives a little sigh. "In another time and place, we might have been friends."

He unleashes a blast of lightning that hits the giant full on. The giant has very likely never felt that much pain from a blast of lightning before. To add insult to injury, Zog blasts him again with lightning, leaving another mark.

Move up a bit, and use Master's Surge to attack the titan, which does not expend a use of Elemental Escalation. CRIT for 140 hp lightning damage. Then use Quickened Spellcasting as a minor action to cast Elemental Bolt again, hitting Reflex 39 for 53 lightning damage. If 39 doesn't hit, I will spend another Benny to roll a 43. If a 43 doesn't hit, I'll leave it at that.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

A series of attacks that would have slain most creatures in the multiverse causes minor wounds and obvious annoyance to the titan. He roars in anger and hits Harald when the warrior charges him. The sky starts raining lightning, blasting everyone in the party. Winds then start swirling around the titan; Harald stands firm in them but Darratheir is thrown off his feet away from the titan.

He then flies slowly to the north of Harald and lands next to the dwarf, his nostrils flared with rage.

Titan hits Harald for 19 hp as a reaction when Harald hits him. On his turn, his aura begins. He then does a close burst 10 attack, uses two Bennies (on attacks on Gromley) to ensure that he hits everyone for 29 lightning damage (noted Zog’s resistance). He spends an Action Point to attack Harald and Darratheir with a close burst 5; he uses another Benny to hit Darratheir for 40 thunder damage on the dragonborn, pushes Darratheir 5 squares and knocks him prone.

The first hit triggers item powers for Harald and Darratheir. The titan still hits with Harald's re-roll. Harald gains resist 5 until EO (after his resist 10 expires this turn). It also gains -2 to hit and saves (save ends). The -2 is applied to the second attack on Harald and Darratheir and still hits Darratheir.

Gromley uses Intellect Fortress to avoid being hit.

Titan then moves without provoking to the current spot, flying at half-speed from being blind. He takes 10 hp radiant damage at the end of his turn from Martha’s power but makes his save against it to end that effect. He also makes his save versus the penalty to hit and saves.

Sonliin is up! Sonliin takes 15 lightning/thunder damage at the start of his turn.

Everyone else hold off on their turns until Sonliin goes.

EVERYONE NOTE THE AURA:
Aura 10 around the titan; any creature that enters or begins its turn in the aura takes 15 lightning and thunder damage; creatures other than Nakheten treat the area within the aura as difficult terrain and cannot fly.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Sonliin learns some interesting things about the titan.

More importantly, though, Sonliin's spell works marvelously, sending the giant away for a long moment.

Titan is Sequestered but makes his save at the end of next round. The aura goes away while the giant is gone, so Sonliin can move up to where he wanted to.

All PCs are up! You may take a whole round’s action before the creature returns.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Surprised by the titan's wind, Darratheir is projected away from him and dropped on the ground. At the same moment, three scraggy spirits erupted from the Barbarian's mantle and after circling around his attackers, they rushed on him, piercing it multiple times before disappearing in the massive creature.
In no time, the Dragonborn stood on his feet again and he shook his head to clear his mind. Despite the fly he had suffered, he had seen Sonliin banish the giant creature and he used this small break in action to place himself in a more comfortable position.

Blade at the ready, he then waited his moment to rush again at his opponent. "Wherever you are, hear my words and don't think you will get rid of me like that. We will kill you, no matter the cost and we will retrieve this arrow !"

Move action : Stand up so I'm not prone anymore

The party waits until Sonliin dismisses his spell, and then the titan returns! The party pounds on the titan. The titan very quickly shakes off the effects from Sonliin’s attack.

Darratheir, Zog, Martha and Sonliin all hit the titan. The titan makes its save versus Sonliin’s effects right away, though, as its end of turn occurs when it returns.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Sonliin started to crackle as he summoned electricity from the air and a blast of lightning enveloped the Titan. Calling upon his strength, he then drew back his warhammer and smashed it into the creature before teleporting across from Harald to continue harassing it.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Martha tries to move forward through the Titan's aura but is unable to close the distance quickly enough. Frustrated, she lashes out zealously to sanction it whilst keeping her concentration on the Spirit of Healing.

Move: 3 N (diff terrain)
Minor: sustain spirit of healing (+7hps per hit on Titan if adjacent to Spirit - note Darratheir)
Standard: Zealous Sanction (+2 HolyWrath +1rad) hit vs will with reroll, 16 radiant damage and all PCs who hit titan eont may optionally spend a HS+4 & +2 attacks EONT if they want, can't hide etc, +1 to hit with radiant eont, powers up healing words; +7hps, +6thps.

10:18, Today: Martha rolled 31,16 using d20+29,d8+13 with rolls of 2,3.  Zealous Sanction vs Titan (+2 HolyWrath +1rad).
10:18, Today: Martha rolled 46 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 17.  Bennie reroll.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Bothered by the storm surrounding the titan, Darratheir roared in anger. But it would take more than lightning strikes to stop the Barbarian wrath and these annoyance was just another trigger that would make him go out of control.

Roaring once more, he then drew his blade in the titan's leg closer to him, trying to make him fall prone.

Standard Action: Oak Hammer Rage - 48 vs AC for 46 damage and the titan is knocked prone.
Also, until the rage ends, I knock my target prone whenever I hit with a melee attack. If the target is already prone, it takes 3 extra damage instead.
I used 3 bennies as I'm not sure if a 39 or a 43 would be enough to hit his AC.

11:32, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 39 using 1d20+30 with rolls of 9.  Oak Hammer Rage.
11:32, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 43 using 1d20+30 with rolls of 13.  Benny reroll.
11:32, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 31 using 1d20+30 with rolls of 1.  Benny reroll.
11:32, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 48 using 1d20+30 with rolls of 18.  Benny reroll.
11:33, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 46 using 3d12+19 with rolls of 10,9,8.  Damage roll.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Staying far from the titan, Gromley used his projected awareness to try and dominate the creature's mind and keep it still. So the others could finish it off...

OOC:

13:57, Today: Gromley Underhill rolled 36 using 1d20+27 with rolls of 9.  Sudden control, 6 psi points, vs will. If I have combat advantage from the actions of the others, its 38. If needed I will spend a bennie. If I hit, the Titan is dominated until the end of my next turn, and gets +12 to hit and damage...if there was anyone I wanted him to attack. Unlike normal sudden control-this will prevent the titan from acting unless I wish it. I will wish it to cancel its aura power that causes damage to my friends.

If the attack does not work even after a bennie, say due to a interrupt I will set up a mind shroud.

Mind Shroud: Encounter, Minor action. Until the end of users next turn, has
superior cover and is slowed.

If the titan is immune to domination I won't bother to use mind shroud.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Zog almost reluctantly keeps pounding on the creature, stepping forward enough to do so and then flying backwards away from it as he blasts it...

Use a Benny to hit again for 53 damage before resistances. Chipping away.

21:34, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 48,5 using 2d12+38,2d10 with rolls of 4,6,4,1.  Damage.
21:34, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 41 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 12.  Benny.

Agon hung back, pummeling the titan with force magic. The warriors were chewing it to pieces.
