Attack with Elemental Bolt with Elemental Escalation; miss. Use Refined Recall to keep a use of Elemental Escalation. No Benny; I think we've got this.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

The titan, more wounded than it ever has been, summons some inner reserves and hits each of the party members near him with his massive blade, bruising them. However, the is unable to blast Martha with lightning again, just narrowly.

He locks eyes with each of you for a long moment and you get a sense of what true chaos looks like in a mind.

Darratheir, Harald, Gromley, Agon (naturally) and  Sonliin all hit the titan; Zog and Martha miss. Titan can’t stand so he attacks from prone, using a daily power to add +4 to all attack rolls for a round, and hits all four PCs—29 on Darratheir, 19 on Harald, Martha for 29 hp and Sonliin for 27  hp. He then gets to call lightning on Martha but misses her.

All PCs are up! Everyone within 10 squares takes 15 damage. Darratheir and Martha are bloodied.

EVERYONE NOTE THE AURA:
Aura 10 around the titan; any creature that enters or begins its turn in the aura takes 15 lightning and thunder damage; creatures other than Nakheten treat the area within the aura as difficult terrain and cannot fly.

REMEMBER THE DIFFICULT TERRAIN FROM ABOVE WHEN MOVING

Terrain Details:
Illumination: While the dense, black clouds othe raging storm block out the sunlight that blankets Hestavar, the near constant flashes of lightning provide a harsh, flickering equivalent to Bright light.
Wall of Water:  The roaring wall of water churns about Nekheten’s prison, driven by the titan’s fury. Nekheten, contained by the power of the seal, cannot pass or be forced to pass the standing stones and enter the water. Characters that enter the churning wall for any reason take 3d10 damage, are slid 6 squares clockwise around the edge of the wall, and are knocked prone in a square adjacent to the wall.
Standing Stones:  Each of these rib-like spurs of stone bears an engraved symbol of Erathis, Ioun, or Pelor upon its surface.
Seal:  The dull metal seal embedded in Nekheten’s chest is impervious to damage while the titan lives.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Even Harald was feeling a tinge of regret as the titan was pounded again and again.  But...needs must.  The fighter rolled his shoulders and set his feet against the roiling winds.  This had to end!  And the sooner the better!

Minor: MARTIAL SUPREMACY: (Stance)
Till stance ends, whenever I use a fighter at-will attack power or basic attack that has the weapon keyword, I may reroll the attack roll. Use the second roll, even if it's lower.  Stance ends if I spend a surge.  Can end it on my turn as a free action.
Standard: Cleave:

Zog unleashes one more bolt of power that rips into the titan...

Not sure if Reflex of 40 hits, so spend Benny to get--41 :-) Also think prone might give me a -2 penalty, so in that case it's 38 or 39 Reflex.  54 damage before resist if that's a hit.

Darratheir was resolute to end this fight. The titan was doing is job, that was a fact. But the Dragonborn was doing the same thing and he had no pity for the guardian.
He then tried to deliver one of the killing blow to the titan, hoping it would be enough to end his life.

Move action: 1SW
Standard action: Howling Strike - 48 vs AC for 51 damage (Forgot to check the reroll 1 but never mind) + 3 additional damage (Oak Hammer Rage) for a total of 54.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

The powerful party delivers a series of jarring blows to the titan. It falls to one knee and looks Gromley right in the eye--and then his eyes explode, his brain bursting into an inferno. The titan roars and then breaks down into a swirl of sound and lightning. When Nakheten falls, the seal embedded in its chest crumbles into dark ash before being blown away on the faltering winds of the dying storm.

As it does so, the Arrow of Fate, long hidden within, becomes visible. An almost tangible release of power pulses from the collapsing seal as the ancient rituals bound to it begin to unravel, washing over the heroes, refreshing and empowering you. It leaps into Darratheir's hands--and transforms into a spear in his hand!

"Prepare yourselves, mortals. There are fell deeds at hand..."

Everyone gets the benefit of a Short Rest. Let me know what kind of healing surges you want to spend. If you choose not to take a short rest and maintain any stances or encounter benefits, you can--just say so explicitly. You have the strong sense that there's trouble waiting for you when you get back to ground.

'Wow!' says Martha. 'What an epic battle!'

'You hold the Bone Dagger, Darratheir'<blue> she declares, delighted. <blue>'You wield the power to destroy the gods!' Covered in titan blood and guts, she rushes forward and gives the dragonborn a warm cuddle, then pats him on the head like a small child 'Tiamat trembles! I will not let anyone harm you before you have a chance to put that spear where it belongs: deep in her black and empty heart'.

She takes out a biscuit and hands it to Darratheir, then offers more to the others. 'Keep up your strength boys. We have a busy day ahead; no time to waste.'

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

As the Titan disappeared, Darratheir protected himself from the powerful burst of energy only to notice the arrow coming to his hands and transforming into a spear. The Dragonborn was even more impressed as the weapon started to speak to them but he answered nonetheless. "You're right. We have a balance of power to restore."

He then turned toward Martha when she started to speak but once again, he wasn't able to react in due time to the woman's action as she started to cuddle him. That was a feeling in didn't had since his childhood and he didn't know how to react so he simply waited that she stopped to make a step back.

"I may hold this weapon and even if I am a child of Io, I am not sure if I'm worthy of its power. I feel like it might also suit some of you so if you think you might be more worthy, I will give it to you with no hesitations."

He finally accepted the biscuit from Martha that he ate quickly.

OOC : Taking a short rest. Spending two HS.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

'It chose you' points out Martha. 'It is a great honour. You should accept it - and the burden that goes with it.'

She has surprised herself. Was she finding a sort of faith again - a very different one than the false and evil one she has so totally rejected? Was it the experience of drinking that elixir earlier today, and that vision she saw?

Hopefully it wouldn't be permanent; she remains suspicious of any overarching ideologies, but she can't help the words that just came out of her mouth, or her conviction that they are right. Her mind will explode if she thinks about it too much. Instead, she'll take Agon aside when he's not busy and ask him for advice - perhaps the sage can explain what she can't.

OOC: Martha takes Agon aside at a time of his choosing to ask about whether she might be getting her faith back, and if so - faith in what? Could a new divine order be in the process of being born here, with the death of Bahamut and impending death of Tiamat? Or is this just a delayed hallucination from the elixir?

The Dragonborn nodded the head at Martha's word. "Then I shall keep it and make good usage of its power." He then made the spear swirl in the air above his head and around his body in some kind of artistic movement to test its balance before stopping clear. "I feel a great power in this relic. Tiamat's end is near."

Momentarily, the surf descends upon the party--and lifts you up above. Happily, you find the surf to be more of a normal force, so all of you are able to manage swimming quite easily now.

The crashing surf deposits you like so much flotsam on the shore of a small island, your path narrowly avoiding the razor-sharp spurs of rock that dot the lagoon nearby. The familiar, cheerful voice of the tiefling scholar from the library, Guionne calls out: “Ah, my friends! I am so delighted that you were as good as your word and managed to retrieve the arrow.” Guionne breathes deeply, savoring the feel. “Can’t you feel it in the air? The city is already feeling so much more hospitable, and we have you to thank for it. Now ... I need the artifact."

He is surrounded by a rather imrpressive contingent of devils.

Re: Chapter 3: Legacy of Io

Darratheir secured his bear skin in his backpack before they were throw out of the place by the water. When they finally reached the ground again, only to see the betrayal from Guionne, the Dragonborn stepped closer to him, bending his chest and making the spear apparent. He first let Sonliin spoke to them but when they asked for the artifact once again, he decided it was his time to take the floor.

"An artifact ? Where do you see an artifact ?" He moved the head, looking around him as if he was actually searching the Arrow of Fate when he suddenly moved his new weapon forward. "Oh, I see... Maybe you mean this new spear we have found ? The one in my hands ? The hands of a Barbarian who will kill Tiamat and anyone standing between me and her. So you better move with all your pitiful servant before I pierce a hole in every of your chests, one by one."
A lot of anger could be seen in the Dragonborn's eye, a wrath you had never seen before as his whole body ignited in primal black flames.

"Gentlebeings, please!" Gromley said, his floating disk gaining a tiny bit more height so people would notice him. "I am sure there is a very reasonable discussion that can be had between who keeps what and when and for how long. The point is-we just returned from removing said artifact from a elder immortal Titan." He paused for effect.

"Without losing a single one of our number." He paused again.

He looked at all his friends, and then back at Guionne. "I don't even think our clothes got dirty...wait." He peered at Harald. "No, I am right. His armor always looks like that, Titan or not."

Then he relaxed on his disk via his pillows, and folded his arms. "After all that, do you really think a mere..." He did a quick head count. "...30 or so creatures are going to really give us pause? No offense my good sir, but I don't see you as negotiating from a position of strength here..."
