Zog moves up and, leaning out from behind a crenellation and unleashes a little red balll that flies to the dragon and explodes over him!

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Darratheir makes a superhuman leap and lands next to the dragon and burrows into its mind! Namissi reels, not having felt fear like this in millennia. Agon then grabs it and Zog burns it with a ball of fire.

Namissi tries to clear his head from the terror that Darratheir placed in it, but the phantoms in its mind are too oppressive for it! He yet reels...

Darratheir hits with Dragonfear Overwhelming; Namissi is Stunned! Agon hits it once and grabs it, and Zog blasts it.

Namissi fails save vs. Stunned! NOTE: Namissi has Bennies, like you, but he elects not to use one yet. He's got tricks up his sleeve.

Gromley and Harald are up! DO NOT post your turn until your name is called.

Rubble  These areas of loose scree are difficult terrain. A creature that runs, charges, or makes a double move through rubble must make a DC 20 Acrobatics check or fall prone.  Large or smaller creatures moving through areas of rubble on the sloping roof (see below) are slowed.
Rubble Pile  Fallen rock and debris are piled to a mheight of 20 feet. A rubble pile must be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check.
Sloping Roof:  The roof of this section of the Charcoal Palace inside the parapets and the curtain wall slopes steeply up toward the center and the area of collapse. These areas are difficult terrain.
Weakened Roof  The shattered roof has been weakened in the areas indicated on the tactical map. A creature that walks on one of these areas triggers a collapse, and must make a DC 33 Acrobatics check or plunge down in a fall of rubble. A creature that falls is buried. A buried creature can clamber out of the area of collapse with two DC 33 Athletics checks. If the blue exarch triggers a collapse, he is slowed until the start of his next turn.
Collapsed Roof  The roof of this section of the Char- coal Palace has been shattered and collapsed where Namissi and Bahamut fought. The Platinum Dragon lies wounded and half-buried within the rubble. The bottom of the collapse is 50 feet below the peak of the shattered roof. Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

The ripple that started earlier continued as Sonliin changed into his dragon form. Holding out a wing for Harald to climb aboard, he took to the sky with his wings beating peals of thunder from the disruption of the surrounding air. Nearing Namissi, a spell came to the dragons lips as flames rained down but to no avail.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Harald leapt from the dragon’s wing and plummeted down onto Namissi.

“GERONIMO!” he yelled as he fell, arms outstretched, axe and shield at the ready.  He had no idea why he used that word, its meaning was unknown to him, and he concluded, as he sped to earth, that it must have come from some deep-seated racial memory.

His axe bit into the exarch’s thick hide, although whether it got all the way through was anyone’s guess.

“Hello Namissi” he said gently, "the name’s Harald but ye can ca’ me Nemesis.”

He was particularly pleased with the play on words he had thought of during his plummet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move: drop from Sonliin’s wing
Standard: Hack and Slash vs Namissi
Combat Challenge on Namissi

20:58, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 45 using 1d20+33 with rolls of 12.  Hack and Slash.  (If falling from a height to attack constitutes a charge, then the attack roll is 46.)
21:06, Today: Harald Gaptooth rolled 36 using 4d10+20 with rolls of 7,5,1,3.  Damage (if a hit)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to his Cloak of Displacement Harald has +2 to AC and Ref till hit on these defences.
Ring of Toros gives +2 to Fort till bloodied
Therefore AC 43, Fort 43, Ref 36 (and Will 36)

To GM:

The first time Harald is hit he will use the power from the Golden Ring of Toros;
Power (Daily - Immediate reaction)
Trigger:  An enemy hits me when I am at full HP.
Effect:  I gain a +5 bonus to my next attack against the triggering enemy.  If I have reached at least 1 milestone today, I also gain resist 5 to all damage until I become bloodied or until the end of the encounter.

The second time Harald is hit (if he survives it) he will use the Cloak of Displacement +4
Power (Daily - Immediate Interrupt)
Trigger; I am hit by a melee or ranged attack
Effect: The triggering attacker must re-roll the attack and use the second result.  If the attack misses I can teleport 1 square.

Sonliin-the-dragon scorches the exarch while the falling Harald manages to ding the dragon, scratching it.

Sonliin misses but does half damage, 18 fire. Harald, attacking as part of a move only happens as a Charge, so yes, it's a charge--which means you hit. Just.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Harald whirled around the prone exarch like one of the fabled dervishes. His bloody axe rose and fell again and again but the tough hide of his opponent was sufficient to keep most blows out.

"Yes!"

Harald punched the air as one of his strikes punctured the hide and brought forth a stream of draconic ichor.

Hit, 50 Vs AC for 37 damage
Secondary attack missed, no Bennie spent

Does Sonliin's challenge take away my mark?

Collapsed Roof  The roof of this section of the Char- coal Palace has been shattered and collapsed where Namissi and Bahamut fought. The Platinum Dragon lies wounded and half-buried within the rubble. The bottom of the collapse is 50 feet below the peak of the shattered roof. A creature that cannot fly or teleport down into the rubble must climb down with a DC 28 Athletics check.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Agon continued to move his free hand into position. He focused his mind for an assault, seeking a chink in the exarch's mental armor.  Perhaps there was a way to sow some chaos in the enemy.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Zog would not be denied his chance to cause the great dragon pain as well--he lobbed another ball of fire at it, smelling the roasting of its scales from his vantage point...

Ignition + Elemental Escalation, hit using 2 Bennies for 63 fire damage. This effectively sustains the zone, so he takes 6 fire damage at the start of his turn.

14:31, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 48,15 using 2d12+36,2d10 with rolls of 7,5,8,7.  Damage.
14:30, Today: Zog the Faceless rolled 48 using 1d20+31 with rolls of 17.  Another Benny.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Striking with all his fury and helped by the power of the Arrow of Fate, Darratheir got his blade biting the dragon's flesh twice violently. "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH !" His cry echoed all around the battlefield, his face distorted by all the accumulated anger he had unleashed if these two strikes.

Standard action: Rage Strike (Spending Desert Wind Rage) - 54 vs AC - Crit for 204 damage + 33 damage (If Nassimi is not bloodied from Land's Fury)
Free action: MBA gained from first crit - 53 vs AC - Crit for 117 damage + 33 damage (If Nassimi is not bloodied from Land's Fury)

That make for a total of 387 damage if the first attack didn't bloodied him. Either way, it's "only" 354

10:40, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 54 using 1d20+34 with rolls of 20.  Rage Strike vs Namissi.
10:45, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 204 using 9d12+116 with rolls of 11,10,2,10,12,12,10,9,12.
10:47, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 53 using 1d20+34 with rolls of 19.  Free MBA from Rampage.
10:49, Today: Darratheir Burnedbear rolled 117 using 9d12+56 with rolls of 4,8,8,7,11,6,1,9,7.  Damage roll.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Agon grips the mind of the great dragon, making it easier for Agon and Darratheir to hit it. As Darratheir strikes it, a wave of colorful energy washes over the dragon, healing some of its wounds.

Agon knows what this is and communicates it to you--it now has resistance to ALL elements that it's not already immune to. It also breathes a bolt of lightning that hits Sonliin, leaps to Zog, then jumps to Darratheir and finally wings Harald. All four of them reel from the blast. This does not stop Darratheir from hitting it again, however.

Darratheir's crit triggers two free actions: an ability that heals it of a quarter of its hit points and gives it Resist fire 20 and resist cold 20. (Sorry, Zog.)

It then also gets Bloodied Breath. Close burst 10, four targets, so it misses Harald for 19 lightning, who is dazed until end of Namissi's next turn; hits Sonliin and Darratheir for 38 lightning before resistance and they are each dazed (save ends); and crits Zog for 70 lightning before resistance and leaves him dazed (save ends).

Agon please declare what the dragon does on its turn--one action only, of course.

Reminder: DO NOT post your turn until your name is called.

Re: Chapter 5--Test of Fire

Namissi was an ancient being, the next best thing to a god, and his mind was a dark labyrinth of unholy desires. The dragon's true consciousness battered against Agon's spell in waves, but for now, Agon had command of scythe like claws, burning breath, and the deadliest weapon of all. A commander's voice.

Namissi roared orders to his army.  A retreat here, a general advance there, abandoning siege weapons and ordering the cavalry to charge straight into prepared positions.

OOC: Using Namissi to give bad orders to his army. Not sure what roll that is.
