Re: Broderick's Expedition

Broderick nodds knowingly at the others comments. Resting a supportive hand on Carruthers shoulder. Fixing the Priest with a concerned look. Does this prophersy include an end or defeat to or of this World Devour, by any decine being or the champions.

In reply to Frer Noe (msg # 835):

Broderick found this discussion puzzling, it started with his suggestions to Otty. There may be a connection but any would need to be considered at a later time. Otty come or Otty stay? prompted Broderick.

In reply to Narrator (msg # 839):

Broderick suggests the possibility of finding areas of interest in lower levels. However they should find a suitable location to leave the hand cart and contents, or even someone to trade them to for coin.
[Private to GM: out of curiosity and possibly a reminder was the trove the mage detected on this level? Broderick continies mapping out the area as they go]

[Private to Cair Leibert:

So far you have found staircases down to this level at odd intersections to major corridors above, you are not sure of the rubrick for finding further stairs down, but there was an up ladder to the south and west, and to the north there is another intersection...

Brodrick, with Smasher alongside or slightly behind him, leads the team towards the north towards the intersection.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 842):

The barrel vaulted hallway intersects with a similar wide one, four yards wide, by three high
at the center, with the arch beginning at about two yards.  Unlike the upper level, there are
no decorative friezes of tile, only occasional stone markers with a variety of characters
from different languages, as you have seen over each doorway.  Most of them are identical,
save for a number in Roman letters.

The wide passage extends East and West, and from the western direction there is a faint, if stale breeze.

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 844):

The air is not particularly foul, but reminds you of someplace stuffy that has not seen daylight in some time.

Ooc think of the air in a subway or tube system when a train approaches, the air moves, but it is neither  fresh nor particularly toxic.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Finding the aroma was that of a passage which was rarely frequented Broderick hoped this would proove rewarding by enabling them to find a substantive bounty. This thought was counter balanced by the possibility of possible threat, which he suspected may be further undead types.

Continuing along the passage [Private to GM: regularly pausing to allow mapping to be carried out.]

The quiet warrior creeps with loaded  crossbow toward another intersection, where the breeze comes from an openwork gate set to one side.
Within, you see another well like structure, overmounted with a metal pyramid  that is perferated with many holes.

Broderic suggests to Timeon they wait for the others to catch up. When they do he approaches the gate and tries his key. If it fits he opens the gate and moves cautiously towards the perforated pyramid.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 852):

Once the others catch up, you can see that the key the orc had opens the gate easily. Within, you can see that the metal pyramid mounted on top of the well is chained on, and latched, but fairly easy to remove.  There is a faint whistling sound as air passes through the perferations, and a creaking sound from below.

The well is wide enough for Smasher, but the handcart would never fit.  On the other hand, you may not have enough rope... this looks far deeper than the last one.
