Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 856):

The lamp descends to the limit of the rope, and still the shaft descends.
Twice it passes a set of bronze grates set on opposite sides of the well.
The grates look like they might be a yard wide by half that in height. The first set seems to be on the east/west sides, the lower set north/south.
The breeze upward is constant, as is the creaking sound below.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Narrator (msg # 857):

Brodetick asks if anyone else has a 50' rope;  and wouldn't mind tying these to the end of his so the lantern can be lowered further. If they don't he retrieves the lantern and stores his rope.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Best get this cover back on the well then. Instructs Broderick after he hauled the Lantern out of the well. While the others replace the metal cap and secure it as it was Broderick unties the rope rolls it up and stores it in the Haversack on Smashers back. Once the cover is secured he leads them back to the intersection heading away from the direction they had come.

Ahead, you can see the glint of metal, probably another gate... but most gates are dull with corrosion.

Cautiously move towards the gate. If the area appears safe try the lock.

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 865):

The gate is bright, like fresh brass, but sort of rough to the touch, and slightly slimy as well.

You notice traces of something slick on the walls to either side, and the flooring as well.

In reply to Narrator (msg # 866):

Broderick takes note of the gate and grimaces. His thoughts suggest something isn't quite right. Moving away from the immediate area he gathers the team.Would any of you knowledge of something that could produce this type of effect on the metal surface. It looks like something abrasive has come in contact with the metal thus removing its outer oxidized layer.

In reply to Timeon (msg # 868):

Interesting, something or things that indiscriminately use strong acid, are hereabouts. Hopefully they aren't inclined to be overtly dangerous. But best take precautions. Do  any of you have suggestions about a course of action, should we fall afoul of the cause of this.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Margaux le Manifique (msg # 872):

That's that then we shall return to the Guild and divide the booty we have collected so far.
Each time he'd asked anything of the team he got little assistance, that being effectively lip service. Broderick wasn't going to continue exploring this complex with a bunch of useless members. Asking if the spellcasters had a means of combatting whatever had done this supported his assessment. Leading the group back the way they came as they make their way back to the guild.

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 875):

The sound is coming from the intersection - in the direction you hadn't turned.  All is dark there, and the sound has to be from twenty yards or so.
Your group draws their weapons, Timeon seeing that his crossbow is drawn and loaded.
Gaspard has his rapier and main gauche unsheathed. Frer Noe has a mace in hand, and is looking about expectantly.  Margeaux lifts the orc's polearm from the cart and rests it on her palms, as if making an offering.

Carruthers draws his club, and steps around the side of Claire that Smasher isn't guarding, and keeps an eye on the rear.
