Narrator:
Broderick was earlier able to kill the brute troll that Gaspard had cut and Timeon had shot, the nearest available opponent is the archer who Timeon just cut in the face. Is he your target?

ooc apologies there wasn't any posts showing his success so I assumed he was facing a difficult opponent. Yes target the archer.[Private to GM: I've amended His and Clairs posts accordingly ]

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 907):

Broderick fells the noseless troll.

Once again, the hag's spell fails. It was Deathtouch about to be flung with Throw Spell.

Whatever Margeaux is doing, it is not a spell. By the way the items in the cart are moving, rising three feet above the cart, might be the effects of a poltergeist spell, but if it is, it isn't being cast by Margeaux, although she seems to be directing the activity.

Gaspard runs another archer through the abdomen,  his rapier penetrating its scale armor.
Timeon swings his sword at the last archer, his blade grazing its torso and causing it to bleed greenly.

Frer Noe is struggling to get past the cart.

The billhooks you took from the orc launch themselves at the hag, one of them impales her!

Re: Broderick's Expedition

With the defeat of the ambushers Broderick arranges for the bodies to be stripped of these will be placed in the handcart, along with the equipment they had gathered. If Otty wishes to eat any of the bodies he's welcome to do so. [Private to GM: Broderick takes note of the items taken from the creatures. ]

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 909):

You find: 3 sets of smallish light scale armor, and two slightly larger ones, all cheaply made, 5 throwing axes, 5 long knives, 2 battle axes, 3 bows and quivers with a dozen arrows, all cheaply made, a carved staff set with garnets, a number of pouches with old copper coins ($81) some personal vasica and questionable rations, a satchel (from the hag) with four potions, and one set of crude lockpicks.

You notice that even the most greviously wounded of The trolls are showing signs of slow healing, and one or two begin showing signs of still being breathing after you strip them of their goods...

Re: Broderick's Expedition

Thanks to everyone's effort, we've netted a passable reward from these would be assassins. declares Broderick. Stabbing the Trolls a couple of times Broderick considers the items gathered Otty do you want any of this food? he asks indicating the Questionable rations. As the booty is placed in the handcart Broderick asks the group if this type of activity is common place event? and if they have any idea how to keep the trolls from regenerating. ie if they had something that was large enough to contain them, the cadavers may net some coin from mages who utilise the natural regenerative capacity.

"I spoke with that beast, Rafik. After exchanging intentions to make an end of eachother, he mentioned that he, unlike many of his k8nd, is now proof against fire, so I would say that that would end them. I would beat him, if he had not a chance to use his bow against me. His blade is small compared to m8ne, I would strike him before he was close."

As there were no other suggestions the best they could do was to burn the bodies. Unless Mistress Margaux le Manifique has some fire based enchantments We'll need to find some timber for a pyre.

I mean, I enjoy a good boom as much as the next fellow, but I didn't think that was the plan.  Tip some of that lantern oil over here, and we will see how they burn. I don't think our friend would be able to get through more than one of them anyway, and I would rather not have them atr our backs."

Re: Broderick's Expedition

I doubt we have sufficient oil to do the job however if there is nothing else available it will have to do. I suggest coating the creatures full body with what we have before they be set ablaze. Broderick instructs stepping forward he starts the process, removing and bundling any garments in a pile which he'll use to assist burning the trolls. Starting with the limbs Broderick gingerly coats the first creature with oil.  ooc how many flasks will this process require?

Re: Broderick's Expedition

In reply to Broderick Leibert (msg # 918):

It tajkes one flask to coat each troll, however, you make a discovery: trolls burn very easily, and you are able to make a bonfire fairly quickly.

Unfortunately,  this makes the air hard to breathe. Where do you take your cart loaded with weapons? Toward where the trolks came from(west), toward the area that had unusually clean metal(north), directly behind you (east), or back toward the stairwell up (south)?

You lead the group down the corridor, and find a door wedged partway open at the next intersection.  The inside of the lock has toolmarks and within is a wellshaft with the chained cover off to the side.

That's a Pity, another of those Well shafts. he thinks to himself before cautiously peering over its lip. I'd guess these Trolls didn't came up the shaft because they couldn't have got past the cover especially if it was secured properly. he informs then searches the passage for signs of the trolls passing.

Timeon produces a small greenish leather wallet with a handful of crude iron implements.
"One of them had these."

To be clear, the covers of these wellshafts all screw on like a jar lid. The have handles above and below, and a chain hanging from the center to a staple in the wall of the shaft opposite the ladder. No tools are needed to open them, although sometimes a crowbar or other tool is needed for leverage.

Surely there's a set of stairs to these lower levels somewhere. he complains.

They must do it somewhere."

Broderick who was peering down the well turns to face the others, giving Gaspard a nod. We'll do much better locating such an entry, than crawling in and out of wells.

Ooc are there any of the screws etc that held the steel cap lying about or were with the lockpicks that Timeon had found? If so the cover will be put back and screwed inplace
