Jareth takes a moment for his eyes to adjust and then scans the room looking for Bertrand, he gets a momentarily cross look as he spots Masugatan, but slides his gaze past him without comment.

If Jareth spots Bertrand, he'll amble over to join him, otherwise he pulls up to the bar.

At the bar is Jean Paul, a burly, ugly man who brews the foul
Ale this tavern is known for. Two dark clad men sit by the fire, both are armed with shortswords, and one has an ornate
Wand in a sheath at his waist as well. You cannot see into
the back room.

Havern stepped into the place, slumped over and was courting a slightly weathered look. He'd been outside through the rain and it showed in the dampness of his hair. Or maybe it was something else, but he slipped a hand through the strap of the large shield on his back and re-shouldered it properly and then made his way into the place, heading straight from the bar.

He made little or no eye contact to anybody, and after catching his gait managed to make a few purposeful strides.

"Gods man, give me a bloody ale before I fall dead on your floor the humour might have sat a little more lightly on the air if he hadn't had a rather grim expression pasted as well as his wet hair across his face.

It was a friendly greeting that he used to give his little sisters.

"This dame is the one and only Ms Montaigne. I have found none other that has such a disarming voice or a heartstopping smile he said with an enthusiasm that grated almosty palpably against the grim, lumbered demeanor that had been present moments ago. A casual smile exploded onto his face and seemed to reduce his age visibly by a decade. The man was youthful, after all, it seemed.

"I like short ones as much, but make sure that ale comes with it too. And I'll be thanking you plenty with my coin tonight" he said casually before asking Amelia Find anything you were looking for around town?". Not the cheapest, but still pretty cheap, I'm celebrating my official admission to the Adventurer's guild! Now I just need to find someone who wants to go raid with me... Hey anyone need a spare wizard for dungeon diving? this is probably really awkward and marking her as one who is clueless, but Berry doesn't really care.

Haveron cast a curious glance at the new woman and then turned to face that direction. One elbow leaned heavily on the bar and his legs crossed and he continued to pull on his ale while watching the spectacle.

Glancing to Amelia, mid drink, he gave a small nod and then wiped the foam from the beginnings of his beard.

Haveron glanced over to John Paul and spoke again "I reckon these two are with me also. Give 'em some ale, would you? he said, purposefully casting his eyes away from Amelia, whom he knew would be rolling her eyes at his spending of their money. She was always giving him a hard time for being too free with the giving, but a Wizard was still a good thing.

Take your drinks from me.

he gestured casually with his tankard to the dark haired woman standing off to the clueless wizard's right.

He handed over his tankard to the shadow elf cabinet maker and then nodded to the barman to get him another "Drink this he said casually before glancing a little more intently at each of the new people. Suddenly the two had become five, and perhaps six once Haveron figured out who the elf's cousin was.

"Well, i've never made a cabinet nor cast a spell. Though these are certainly things in which I take an interest.

I don't know much of either to be fair, but I feel that people who can build things and people that can blow things up and create food out of thin air could be nothing but useful. And I do my best not to require healing too often, being wounded isn't good for you, or so i'm told. "
he said with a wry grin.

"Probably can't see it..." he said with his face refreshed with the grim expression " But the chipped paint of the shield showed the Stormwal's crest, from the duchy that is now a wreck of chaos and a damned fine bloody mess. he reached down and grabbed the ale infront of him, taking a long pull as if to punctuate his words before continuing "Fought for them we did... he said, signalling Amelia too "... lot of good it did though. He grinned again, and lifted his own tankard in salute of his family's province that once stood well and strong

"The frontier seems to be the place where most opportunity can present itself, y'know, if you can deal with the deadly monsters.

I've had a mind to put together a group of people who have high hopes for their own future and use this place as the foundation. So, if you folk, wizards and cabinet makers want to be part of that, you'll be welcome, and it seems like a good way to get richer than I am now.

He casually took another drink and then gestured Amelia to come over "Amelia will help with everything you all think you'd need he offered and then added "We should have work tomorrow, so make sure you enjoy your night too .

Haveron turned back to the bar and then took another sip, after a few moments he realised that he might have not answered the question. He turned back.
From what I understand, this place is built on old ruins and over the past few decades, or however long it's been, has been contested between a lot of different factions. Orcs, beasts, merchants, thieves, and all the like. People just want a piece of it, and it offers the best inroad to this area of the land, the only strong port in the area from what I gather

He still wears his armor, Black Cloth which is almost too thin to count as armor but has served him well ever since he had it made.

Haveron chewed on the last of his breakfast, some hard cheese and bread mixed in with a sausage and another tankard of ale. It was a good breakfast and made a nice change from cooking pots on the road.

"Well, you have been busy haven't you Amelia, three jobs to choose from. It's like my birthday. he said in between chewing and then took another pull of the ale to wash down his breakfast.

Then, leaning forward he pressed his bristled chin into a hand and considered.

I don't think we should be getting tangled up in matters of love. Plus the group we currently have is probably overkill for offing a charismatic Nymph. I especially couldn't imagine the idea of losing you Amelia
he said with characteristic good humour, a stark contrast to the rather grim visage that he'd painted while eating alone before the woman's arrival.

... plus I doubt that'd bring in enough money... he said, thinking deeply about the best course of action.

I also am not eager to build a reputation as a caravan guard in these parts.

Which part of the rabbit-chasing man was a job? What are your thoughts on it, do you think it could bring us some coin? Or have you heard something more about the tower
he asked in quick succession. Curiosity was getting the better of him and he felt that while the first two would bring a few coins to each person, guard duty for caravans can be gained by anyone with enough sense to throw a closed fist around a blade.

The last option intrigued him, but he wasn't quite sure how it translated directly to work.

"Icing the nymph is off the table. Robbing the pawnbroker pays a thousand coins for his papers, and we could keep whatever else.  The shepherd's story sounds like something because no one would hide a tower and lay that kind of magical defenses unless there was something worth hiding."

Shroud managed to eat breakfast, which was a miracle since he barely has two coins to rub together.

Listening to the jobs, he goes over the last two of the choices in his mind.

"I hate Nypmhs, because they can work you till you are paying them, So I agree on us not taking that job, though it would not be an issue for me to take care of it, the pay would not be good enough. That second one sounds good...If we want to find our own way back, which would probably cost me money. It's a risk to take that last job, though. Too many uncertainties. Don't know where it is or what we can get paid with or if there is a tower. Of course if there is then we can liberate it of all its goods. Its a risk, but I would go with the Tower in the woods."

"Robbing a pawnbroker seems all sorts of illegal and not worth it, plus if I wanted to be a common thief I wouldn't have joined up with the Guild! Now, I'm pretty sure the right answer here is the caravan job if we want to be practical. However, it also seems like way more work than anything else. Plus you'll know they'll try to use us as labor when it comes time to unload or load cargo. Finding this tower seems a heck of a lot funner."

"Then it's settled, we'll take the risk that is that is the tower.

"I was figuring the caravan job would let us get paid to travel fairly close to the tower, and while Mischa over there, as a craftsman might be asked to do manual labor, and I may be involved in trading or supply related work, but the rest of you would be hired on as guards or sorcerous defense. Pay will be based on having cost of living deducted, and is paid as a lump sum on arrival in Al Menir, with a small sign on bonus after vetting. I think we should consult a sage about the tower before we go. Anyone have funds for that?"

"But if we're going to travel that way, we might as well be paid for it. We can use the money to pay for a sage if you think that's the best idea Amelia.

"Good work Amelia, we'll do it that way.

See if we can get a this sorry lot a bucket of coins before we set off to look at this tower.
he said addressing the assembled group, with a grin.

Brushing a handful of hair from his face Haveron's youthfulness became apparent, easily seen when he was in good humour. "So, anyone opposed to the idea of making a few coin protecting some fat merchants before heading out to investigate this mysterious tower?
he asked.

An elf like you should be pretty fleet of foot though, i don't doubt. I'd expect that without a horse to burden you down you'd be as elusive as the name of the wind.

For now, lets get some information and then we can go sign up to save this merchant's fat purse.
