In reply to Giant maned rats (msg # 220):

Hograth will step forward, axe still ready to deal with whatever rat is closest, but keeping the shield up. Those quills worry him.

OK, narrower than I imagined. Still, Hograth sleeps well back from them, unless he has no choice. Is there room for us both to advance safely to the bottom?

A good shove with a weapon would knock the dead rat off the steps,

ST roll plus dodge vs quill. Two rats are dead, the third has scuttled off.

In reply to Hograth Podkarmen (msg # 228):

With the stairs clear, you get down into the  large room below, which has an archway straight accross from the base of the stairs, and another straight accross. Several broken statues are here, along with fourstripped corpses that have been chewed to the bone in places. There are gnaw marks on the bones, and the fingers and toes are gone.

Goran touches the morningstar that is still imbued with holy flames to anything flammable on the corpses, but also moves to separate the bones.

The dead and chewed cultists have little on besides smallclothes, and hose in one or two cases. One has stained socks on, generally not too much to burn.

Urun can smell a faint odor of incense, the odor of spiked rat thing, and something acrid and unnatural.

The bouda sniffs the air. Carrion he is used to, even comfortable with,
But this is something different. Acrid, reminiscent of the smell of air after a lighting strike, and faintly nauseating.

Demons and other, possibly worse things were reported to have been fought here. Urrun had smelled the remains of a demon in the large room under the dome. This apparently, was something else.

There is no sign of a summoning circle in this space, but there is an archway, through which you can see another archway. Urrun indicates that second space as being the source of the `other` odor, whearas the first room smells of incense.

There are the gnawed bodies, the bodues ofvthe two maned rats and shattered statues that look like they were pushed off the top of the stairs. There is a large archway to the left, at the base of the stairs, and the smaller one to the right, leading to an anteroom to another archway.

Hograth will separate the bodies, ensuring valuables are removed, and lay them neatly, respectfully and separately along a wall before readying axe and shield and heading to the next room.
