Hograth will check the dead undead, looking ostensibly for signs of where they came from, but also for valuables...befoe checking the location of where they were from...and loading his crossbow!

Re: A matter of concern for the Hadereum

In reply to Hograth Podkarmen (msg # 666):

With the crossbow loaded, you can see that these dead are penniless, or at least they are now. The trail of fingertips and earlobes they left leads rurther down the hallway, to a room with doors flung wide, a recently sawn through rusty chain still looped through a ring on one of the doors.
The cavernous room beyond reeks of old death.

Re: A matter of concern for the Hadereum

In reply to Hograth Podkarmen (msg # 670):

The room had been chained shut, and the chain was sawn through. Within is a vaulted room with pillars. A great deal of debris is scattered about, and tbere are three dead shuffling aimlessly about, that become interested in the light sources you are carrying. The bad footing is causing them to stumble about.  Something is sloppily written on the back wall, in what might have been blood...

Urrun sheathes his sword for the moment and gets his sling out.  (from the description, I take it there is some distance between us).

You have time to prepare and aim, although the dead start moaning when they see you...when they get in range, they are at the end of their move and cannot yet attack.

Goran smashes another with his flaming flail, lighting it up with the force of the winter sun.

All three are staggered, Urrun's is knocked back, Hograth's nearly split in twain, and Goran's is on fire.

"These shrouds... I fear this was a mass grave during plague times... and our graffiti artist was mistaken for being dead. He must have starved to feath unless he took to eating the dead, but it looks liike his last action was to lay a curse, which must have resulted in those restless dead. This is their grave."

Urrun finds a silver ring still on a finger, worth $100.
