The Dismal Tower

Haveron paused a moment and brushed his fingers through the beginnings of his beard and then finally shrugged and agreed.

We wanted to know how to get to the tower we've heard of to see what things are in and around it. It's expected to be well guarded and contain items as well as information that could be beneficial to our group as well as others in the area.

he paused a moment, taking some extra time to think.

"We want to know how to get there, and what things of value may be held in and around the place.

Also, if the information is available, what threats are present?

Anything else, let me know!

"The tower in question is purported to be on the north coast of Valdassya. The tale was relayed to us secondhand, and came from a goatherd who lost his way and found himself unable to leave the vicinity of the tower and never quite get to it, and it took him a great deal of time to find his way out of the area around it."

Haveron glanced down at Amelia's hand and then responded with silence, allowing her to talk. He grinned warmly as she did and the scribe responded by providing the name and suggestion for one of the sages.

magic and fairie things, eh. I guess our wizards will enjoy this place he thought inwardly.

The scribe steps off, and a few moments later, leads you to a wooden screen, beside which is a table with a ewer and basin. From behind the screen you can see a faint light, and a silhoette of an aged half elven woman.

"Sage Davera has some requirements before a consult. Please wash your hands, and then take a sear to the side of the screen. Do not face her directly."

The Dismal Tower

The man gave another frown when he was asked to wash his hands. Slightly unusual, but no harm really. Haveron just didn't expect it, or know if it was a ritualistic practice, or just for something else entirely. But that was even less unusal than talking, facing a wall, to a lady behind a screen.

He let go of Amelia's hand and proceeded to lower his hands into the water, enjoying the sensation of the water on his calloused and raw fingers. Instinctively he raised a dowsed wet hand to his hair and used it to push the long strands of blondish hair out of his eyes and then glanced sideways at the group.

After washing, perhaps spending a little too much time doing so, Haveron moved over ot the seat and sat on it at an off-angle as best he could. He then waited for the woman to speak, while very self-conscious in this moment of not knowing the details of any particular etiquette or practice to which he should adhere.

His mother had always lectured on the appropriate handling of people and despite his rough and boisterous attitude, Haveron had always fallen into line when it came to behaving in a correct manner in various walks of life. Well, he supposed, not always.

Haveron kept his eyes on Amelia as she told the tale, doing his best to stay quiet so as to not disrupt the process. There was little he could add.

The interest he felt at the words he was sure to come from the elven woman had caused a mixed feelign of anxiousness and excitement, though he couldn't tell where one began and the other ended.

Speeding things along
"I have found records in the diary of a sea captain, who has always used the tower on the cliffs as a landmark, who reported that a member of the crew who was known to be susceptible to sorcery as being unable to see it.

There is also a record from two centuries ago of a mage named
Gahmid al Sahir, who was known to be a collector, who hid himself from the world.
There is also a suggestion that in that same northern area, a demon was bound a thousand years ago, with seven silver chains, and the area of his imprisonment hidden from the world with tablets writ with angelic script.

If you find one of these tablets, or whatever device is cloaking your tower, I will pay dearly for it, but I leave it to you to determine how to transport such a thing without succumbing to its power"
