Re: Stalking Balar

"There are three alternatives," Darius said. "We can take his proposal. We can turn him in and be done with. Or we can turn him in and expose the merchant he referred to."

"We took a contract. I say we keep it. And what's more - we can help stop dishonest merchants ripping off honest ones." He smiled. "Or at least less dishonest ones."

In reply to Aegis (msg # 805):

"We need to see to it that we meet our contract, but I am not sure I want to see unjust suffering. Having said that, Balar is a bandit lord, who has been robbing many innocent folk, and therefore i think he deserves what he gets."

Re: Stalking Balar

"These illicit trade goods are no doubt stolen, or illegal. So, depending on what the booty is, either the merchants or the magistrate will be interested, and it should do our reputation well with the honest merchants, and also the city. We could make us some enemies, however... we must put our heads together so that we may achieve all we plot, and escape the blame for exposing the shady merchant, because that is bound to make some people angry... how can we do this? Anyone have any ideas?"

What goods have been collected from the fallen and the camp? For that matter, what is being done with the two dozen bodies, including that of the orc?

Re: Stalking Balar

Aegis has taken Balar's personal arms and armor, and he drags the bodies into a heap, the ones that Masugatan had already searched, and taken their coin and cheap arms. He finds the Orc, and calls over the necromancer.
"Ho! Necromancer! Ye might find what this wizard had interestin'. Come'n see, as ye may recognize somethin' valuable, that looks as but a mere bauble to me simpler knowledge..."
13:20, Today: Aegis rolled 11 using 3d6.  soldier 11
Aegis has assembled a rig to drag the wounded Balar, and has collected the camp's pack animals. the food and ale, and everything of value is to be hauled back to the main camp, where we can prepare to load everything up, secure our prisoner, and head back to the city.

Re: Stalking Balar

"Coming," Darius shouted to Aegis. "Let's see now..."
He gave the wizard a once-over, looking for magical items Aegis might have missed.

[Private to GM: OOC: Rolling against Thaumatology, at 12: 21:48, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 9 using 3d6 ((6,1,2)).]

After looking through the items, Darius held up a hand. "Not so fast. There might still be treasure hidden nearby - that which Balar told us about, and that which he might have wanted to hide. I'll find it."

With his staff, he carved a circle into the ground. Soon, magical energies permeated the air inside the circle as he cast a spell.

[Private to GM: OOC: Casting Seek Treasure
First, carving a circle; takes 2 minutes. Skill roll is 12 vs 18.

21:51, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 2 using 1d6.  Minutes to draw circle.
21:52, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 12 using 3d6 ((5,3,4)).

Afterwards, casting Seek Treasure (takes five minutes); rolling vs Augury-0: 14 vs 16.
21:53, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 14 using 3d6.  Seek Treasure Roll vs 16.

Should tell him the location of the nearest treasure worth $1000 or more.

OOC: i don't think we're burning them, cos we'll need to haul them back for the bounties on them. but we'll need firewood to make camp for the night.
