As you load everyone into the refrectory, leaving behind only the bodies of the D'Ivorie troops, stripped of their weapons and armor, you can hear the sound of many horses and horns blowing, approaching from the south road.

"Christine, Azrael, Mal, take cover using the cart.  Walter, stay back, screen them if you can.  Dareos, Haskell, let's form a loose line with Dareos in the center.  Jednesa, hang out over there by the corner of the building, if we give the signal to fight, or they attack, you get in and smash."

As the group starts moving, he notices Chris, "Christine, keep Chris back with Walter.  Use him to run interference or break charges by anyone getting past us."

So with Fit and level 15 recover energy, I can recover 8 points. Thanks.

Christine just nods to Chris to follow Stenets instructions.

"We want to force them to approach us without cover...but over uneven ground. Cavalry will be a problem otherwise. Perhaps we would doo better to fall back inside the building. Jednessa, can we put the cart inside?"

Azrael also seems to recover fairly quickly once awake.

[Private to GM: Hde also has recover energy at 15... given his rest and now being on the positive side of fatigue, he should be close to recovered.]

Fit doesn't recover FP spent on magic and you can't stack FP recovery methods.

Unless gwythaint has a house rule in effect?

In reply to Stenet Fjall (msg # 837):

Fit does not recover energy reserve; any FP can be restored. In DFRPG the only limit is that vVery Fit does not permit 1/2 fatigue lost due to spells, only mundane things like heat and exertion. So Azrael can recover the FP, but not the energy reserve.

As I read Fit, that does not require a house rule. Where do you get that ruling from, Stenet? The description of Fit does not restrict that...

This is false.

Well fuck me running backwards.  Another stealth rules change.  Fit is no longer included in the prohibition from recovering supernatural FP expenditures.

From Basic pg 55:  "In both cases, this advantage applies only to FP lost to exertion, heat, etc. It has no effect on FP spent to power psi or magic spells."

This line is missing from DFRPG's Fit description and is explicitly in Very Fit's description.

As for stacking...

DFRPG Exploits pg 64:
"Spellcasters who know the Recover Energy spell recover 1 FP per five minutes of rest at skill 15-19, or 1 FP per two minutes at skill 20+. Martial artists with the Breath Control skill can roll against it once per two minutes of rest to recover 1 FP. These two abilities replace ordinary recovery, cannot be used together, and don’t benefit from Fit or Very Fit."

I could swear I posted all this yesterday.  The internet gremlins must have got it...

In reply to Stenet Fjall (msg # 840):

Huh, I never noticed that line in Basic that Fit did not apply to points lost from magic, and that they don't stack. Probably should read the entire description sometimes... If not stacking, i guess I only get 4 points back then.

Most of my characters, like me, are not Fit, somewhere between Fit and Unfit, bordering on Very Unfit!

Stacking and not stacking used to be a GM ruling.  DFRPG calls it out as not stacking.  In 3e there were "from on high but not official" rulings that recovery sources didn't stack, but of course munchkins always ignored this (I know my group did back in 3e), and not everyone was on the illuminati bbs.

Thanks, I hadn't read that in exploits. So while there is no stacking, fit can help recover FP losses, but not energy reserve.

In that 20 minutes, could we have pulled the table and benches out of the refectory and established a fortification for the casters to bunker behind?

Yes, clearly.  Stenet can, Jednesa, Chris, Walter, basically the people who can either skip resting as they aren't terribly winded (Stenet, Jednesa) or because they aren't down any FP (Chris, Walter).  Possible Haskell as well, don't know if spent any FP during the fight or not.
